Umm the one where you scratch the paint, if you use clear packing tape and seal the background and then paint with black on top it, then it works wayyy better
Yes! Also, I’ve done it with my kids and as they scratch it flecks of black paint get all over the place. So, it was fun, but more messy than you would think.
Yes, it works best if you use crayons (even the oil pastels would probably work), then normal school paint, not acrylic. You can add dish soap but I have had success when I have missed that step.
Yes I tried it before but the down side of using tape is you need to be careful while scratching the paint of else the tape will peel off too! Still a fun experience 😊

Chloe the people that are hung up on if something is a hack or what have you really need to go touch grass. Don't worry that much about it. Love your vids!
Hi Chloe putting in the sponsor while you do the art work is very clever it makes it more interesting plus I'll support in any way I can as you are the reason I picked back up my art work again so thank you Chole xxxx
Chloe, good way to remember: The word Stalactites has a “C” and so does Ceiling which they grow down from in a cave. The word Stalagmites has a “G” and so does Ground which is where they grow up from.
Hullo Chloe Rose, I have enjoyed watching your videos for quite some time! I saw a few comments on the “quality” of your air dry clay. I believe that if you don’t want to paint the clay, just use colors and Sculpy clay. Form your flower pieces and bake. It is a much better quality “hack” on the subject of a hack anything that is a short-cut to an established method of working could be called “hack”. To the knob that said crafts are not art, obviously they have never created a parade float for the Rose Bowl Parade. This is a unique art form and crafting skills are needed up and down the float! To be a crafter is to be an artist. Thank you for sharing another lovely video of creating art with us Chloe. Please take care, be safe and keep creating Art for sharing with all of us.
Try Murphy's Oil Soap on your paint spots on your shirt. It works great removing dried paint from brushes - I have had good luck with using it on clothes over the years too. Love the pumpkin! And the handprint was neat - I think I would turn it upside down and draw from there...more options to build on to me.
I've never, ever used air dry clay that is...stringy! 😂😂 Tbh with you, Chloe, air dry clay is so inexpensive and comes in every colour imaginable as you can buy a cheap starter kit online for next to nothing. If you want more detailed and less "pre-teen," I would suggest using polymer clay. It also comes in a billion different colours and finishes (brights, pastels, metallics, glitters etc, etc). It's a similar thing, but it's baked in the oven to cure it and will stay that way after baking it. You can bake your pieces several times so you don't smush any details in a finished part while you work on the next. It's much nicer and less messy to work with, too!
9:00 is, I’ve done this trick before you basically put down a good colour range like a bunch of colours and what you get is like a paper full of colours. You can do it with crayons paint whatever you want, and then might it is to add black paint on top like normal black paint, do not use body, yeah, any black paint will do so that it’s easier to scrape
I liked the giant marker storage container. I like the crafty stuff more than hacks. Using the shipping container and the Mod Podge were both hacks/tricks. Using the wrong coloring paper was a trick too, but on you. 😊
I used to make scratch art with my daycare kiddos - gave us all an excuse to use the crayons that gathered dust! I always advised to use a heavy hand with the crayons because a thicker waxy layer made sure our black paint wouldn’t stick to the paper. I also loved how accessible the craft is because we tend to all have a ton of crayons hanging about and hopefully everyone has a little dish soap too!
I've played around with coloring the clay and the trick is to use very little paint in it. I used super cheap stuff (both the foam clay and craft paint) and it worked really well. I think you added too much paint which is why the clay became sticky and stringy.
People get so crafty with mirrors!! I personally wasn't a fan of the expanding foam trend, but I did have fun painting clouds on some mirrors as a gift. :)
Put clear packing tape on your background image, then put the black paint mix on top. When you scratch off, the result is better. Glad you are doing these again. So fun
Okay so I want to state I did enjoy last video and this video, even though I was one of the people that commented on the hack/project topic. This is a very fun video. I do have a Tip for you. I think the air dry clay you got is foam clay which is stickier and holds less detail. But there are also other types of air dry clay like paper clay which are less sticky and can hold more details you may enjoy working with more. ALSO, I got a project idea for you. You could paint your palm a stone color, press on paper then fill the inside cavity on the paper with crystals of any color you like to make a geode. For crystals you could use glass, beads, rhinestones, real crystals or even kosher salt (though you'd want to paint under the salt to add color I think)
These were all such good ideas. I love everything you made today. I had no idea about the paint possibly being mixed in with air dry clay. Definitely a hack for me too! You could make a 3D bear in a forest piece on a tray. It would take ages but it would look so good!
Loved the pumpkin, your ‘hand’ was clever and thought the air dried clay interesting, now can’t wait to see what you come up with next. Personally think you should make a hanging bear to go with the flowers on the mirror 😊. Always love watching you
My friend told me a similar hack to your soapy black paint. She had used it for scratch offs. So she would print whatever she wanted, put scotch tape (or a clear plastic tape) then added black or silver soapy paint over that and it would scratch off and show what was underneath without mixing.
I love your down-to-earth approach and sense of humour when things don't necessarily to go plan. The palm printing looks like fun. Also, I'd like to try the coloured clay that Jackie used (in the video you've linked in the description) maybe that'd work for this flowered mirror too? Plus.....no messy mixing! Bonus! 😉😄
Awesome hacks! I especially like the paint chip inspiration and the air dry clay painted ideas! Your jack o lantern and clay flowers were so cool! Much love from grains!
I enjoy the crafts, honestly. Arts and crafts! And there's so much that I, personally, don't know and I'm grateful to have a place to go to see hacks cos I don't use tiktok or Instagram or really any other social media so I appreciate people not assuming that all their followers know hacks that might be more common knowledge
So funny! That's my favorite liner, too! I find it so smooth to use, and the nib is great that it's so variable. I got mine in an art box at some point and it has grey on one end/black on the other. Editing this comment to also say: I totally agree! The hand idea is so fun. ❤ it. You're so great at those reverse coloring book drawings. Would love to see you do more of them.

You look stunning again, and your hair looks so cute every way you wear it!! Love you, Jackie, Mira, and Rae so so much! I love even more that you are all friends❤ Ps. Stelagmites grow up and stelactites hold on tight from the top.
I think it would've been easier to add paint to the clay in larger batches and then separating the already coloured clay into the little balls also ensuring that too much paint wasn't added as that would change the texture of the clay.
Chloe all I can say re the first thing you said.... people are petty! Personally I really enjoyed your last art HACK video oh and every video I've watched of yours sooo thankyou!
That handprint one and the clay one were so cool. Also legit the only difference between stalagmites and stalactites is whether they grow from the ceiling or the floor of the cave.
I have a hack tip weird idea thingy for people who either hate swatching or love it….. swatch your colours in random square and oblong shapes leaving spaces or not between them and ensure to leave a wide space between each row, then doodle a house/shop/pub… on each swatch and give each door a number. The numbers can be listed as a street directory below your village/city. This lets you have a cool picture to put up to reference your colours without the shame of displaying swatches (no shame if that’s your thing!).
lol your orange finners made me giggle 🙃 I watched Jackie’s video first(I’m catching up on videos) I absolutely love what you guys have made. You make it look even easier to make these things. So cool. Love how creative people can be 😊
I think the original artist who came up the concept of painting on paint chips the same color is Temi Danso Art. She's here on YT & over a year ago she started learning how to goache paint by painting on painting on a stack of them. :This goache painting took me 2 months to complete" *I dont know the artist featured in this featured video, but it definitely looks like they were inspired by her.
Stalactites are going down (like you drew), stalagmites are growing up. In French, it’s easy to remember … stalactites tombent (fall down) and stalagmites montent (go up).
The dishsoap trick really works! I used to make scratcher cards by just putting tape over whatever was meant to be revealed, then painting over it with a mix of dish soap and (usually silver) acrylic paint.
I think the air dry clay was maybe to warm, it looked really stringy and melty. If you watch the original video it was not like that. I love sculpting and I have never seen air dry clay so stringy. I think you would have had an easier time if the air dry clay was not like that.
@@bootercup001Chloe used the exact same bag the girls used..it was the foam kind. Not sure what the og commenter said before the edit but from the new edit she wasn’t saying she didn’t use the right one just that it was too warm. I think she just used to much paint because it got sticky
@@skylightergacha6791 Thank you this is exactly what I was trying to say. I will try my best to get my paws on it but, I have a feeling I am not the only one who will be lined up for it.
I loved this video! I saw Jackie’s too. Y’all did some really cool things! I love the idea of the mirror. I think I would use clay that already has a color - it just seems easier. 💜💜
Just did scratchboard with elementary school students. We did black crayon over colored crayon with one group, and rainbow commercial scratchboard with the other group, but lesson plan suggested using tempera paint. We sharpened paintbrushes using a handheld pencil sharpener to make scratch tools, and the other group used pennies. I'd recommend heavier paper or cardstock for this project, and ALWAYS plan your drawing BEFORE you start scratching.
I remember doing those scratch papers in school. we used a good card stock, and crayons or oil pastels. Then mixed a little soap with the acrylic paint (think bulk school paint quality) to help it "stick" to the oily/waxy layer and painted a decent layer on. Loved scratching these off.
For the air dry clay hack, Chloe! What I did was buy colored air dry clay it comes in small pouches and is quite easy to find if u search it up ,and if you don't feel like buying that you can colour tge same white clay a little tip is to add only a tiny drop of paint rather than that much and mix it into the clay that way it saves you time n your clay won't be messy at all and you can wear gloves to it won't stick that way ! (I've tried this hack before and just noticed you adding too much paint into the clay ) hope this helps! 😊
The clay you used doesn’t look like the air dry clay I’ve used in the past,I’ve bought good air dry clay from The Works(I’m British so I don’t know if The Works is in America and such) but it’s not stringy or sticky like yours.
It’s foam and it looked like that because she got it too sticky with the paint. She used too much I’ve colored my foam air dry clay befit and u just need a litttle
We used to make the scraping papers in primary school, and we just used oil pastels and then a layer or 2 of regular black watercolor on top. Worked great!
On the scratch paper we have done it before with crayons on the background and straight black acrylic on top no need to dilute. I’ve also rehydrated himi gouache in the past just add loads of water and leave overnight with a couple of drops of clove oil to prevent mould
I posted the same thing. Guache works exactly like watercolour as in it doesn't dry eternally like acrylic but has the pigmentation of acrylic. So yes spraying it with water does activate it back to how it was brand new.
A lot of people go to a ton of trouble to restore them by mixing in water and stirring and stuff, to where they are all really wet, but you can just spray them lightly and pick them up just like watercolor.
Fun video!!! Loved it!
With foam clay you just need a few drops of paint… to much paint reactivates it and makes it sticky; and that’s why the flowers don’t look fluffy…
I think they pour paint on it in the reference video just for the wow effect

You can also just use it dry like a watercolor pan. I use all my gouche dry because I don't paint enough to even try to keep them wet.

Chloe all I can say re the first thing you said.... people are petty!
Personally I really enjoyed your last art HACK video oh and every video I've watched of yours sooo thankyou!
The second hack absolutely works. You just need to use crayons underneath. As a kid I used to love doing fireworks with this
Hello Chole, I absolutely love the Mirror! I now want to do something for my daughter!
That sounds so nice! If you do it I’m sure she’ll love it
That handprint one and the clay one were so cool.
Yes! Two videos two days in a row! Plus a Mariah video at
4 today! 🎉🎉🎉
the paint stain zoom in on your shoulder made me burst out laughing 😂
How dare anyone out there not love the giant marker!!😱😡 I love the giant marker!!🖍💙
You rule and haters drool, girl!!😗✨
The one with the colorful paint under the black paint mixed with dish soap, you need to use oil pastels underneath!
The mirror reminded me of trix cereal, now i want a fruit loop mirror 😂
You are so creative i am always amazed by your art ❤ lot's of love from New Jersey ❤
lol your orange finners made me giggle 🙃
I watched Jackie’s video first(I’m catching up on videos) I absolutely love what you guys have made. You make it look even easier to make these things. So cool. Love how creative people can be 😊
I think the original artist who came up the concept of painting on paint chips the same color is Temi Danso Art. She's here on YT & over a year ago she started learning how to goache paint by painting on painting on a stack of them. :This goache painting took me 2 months to complete"
*I dont know the artist featured in this featured video, but it definitely looks like they were inspired by her.
Stalactites are going down (like you drew), stalagmites are growing up. In French, it’s easy to remember … stalactites tombent (fall down) and stalagmites montent (go up).
Much love from grains. Love your videos
Yeah I have to agree with someone else and you, that wasn’t air dry clay, that looked like **foam** air dry clay, not **paper** air dry clay.😂
I do also agree that she added to much paint but also you can see her grabbing the clay before the paint and it looks like it was too sticky from the get go vs the OG video. The OG comment was the same I just added a period to make it more clear.
The marker was literally my favorite wtf😂❤
hacks, tricks, crafts...whatever. This is fun content and I am hear for it. I really thought the hand one is a great way to get out of your head and get lost in something for a minute. That can be really helpful for artblock. I also think its a fun little date night activity too! I am also so excited for your shop opening on the 19th! That bear desk mat is just so ding dang cute. I will try my best to get my paws on it but, I have a feeling I am not the only one who will be lined up for it.
I loved this video! I saw Jackie’s too. Y’all did some really cool things! I love the idea of the mirror. I think I would use clay that already has a color - it just seems easier. 💜💜
Love the Tombow pens as well and I ALWAYS have paint on my clothing somewhere, even if I haven't been near paint in weeks.
The mirror looks sooo pretty! 😍💕
Love nerdecrafter. I'm really enjoying your videos, too.
Chloe, I liked the crayon and marker craft hack. Thought it was really cute.
Love your work❤❤
The clay you used doesn’t look like the air dry clay I’ve used in the past,I’ve bought good air dry clay from The Works(I’m British so I don’t know if The Works is in America and such) but it’s not stringy or sticky like yours.
It’s foam and it looked like that because she got it too sticky with the paint. She used too much I’ve colored my foam air dry clay befit and u just need a litttle
@@skylightergacha6791 ah,ok,in other videos I’ve seen people use a clay with red packing,so that’s like air dry clay,as you said Chloe used foam clay
Easier way of doing a homemade scratch card = color with pencil crayon and then coat very heavily with black wax crayon
We used to make the scraping papers in primary school, and we just used oil pastels and then a layer or 2 of regular black watercolor on top. Worked great!
Handprint hack was cool
Fun love these dear Thanks for sharing 💖
On the scratch paper we have done it before with crayons on the background and straight black acrylic on top no need to dilute. I’ve also rehydrated himi gouache in the past just add loads of water and leave overnight with a couple of drops of clove oil to prevent mould
My cousin and I used to collect paint sample cards and bookmarks.
Much love from grains!
Love these!!
These are fun!!
YAY ANOTHER CHLOE VIDEOO
I've seen people reuse their gouche paints and always spraying them with water so they come back to life. Idk if you tried that.
2 in a week 🩷 love you and Jackie, when worlds collide
Much love from(a Dutch) grains! Love your channel ❤
