    Advaita is most commonly translated as ‘Non-Dual’ but I also find the definition ‘No-Separation’ or ‘Not Separate’ to be a useful pointing to truly ingest the teaching.
    It is often frustrating for the seeker to attempt to make awakening ‘happen’ but if instead the approach of the seeker is switched to perceive the illusory reality clearly one finds that the collapse of appearance of separation is the result and this is awakening to one's true nature. No action or event is required, simply a recognition of an illusion that was previously believed to be real.
    An illusion is only dangerous if it is believed to be true.
    The mind IS the world of illusion. By recognising the inherently incomplete ability of the mind to perceive clearly the seeker appropriately loses faith entirely in the mind’s ability to form an accurate picture of the universe. It becomes far easier to dismiss the ego’s attempt to persuade you into unhelpful thinking habits once you have clearly seen it’s inherent inability to perceive reality correctly.
    By it’s own nature the mind exists as a tool for navigating and understanding the world in terms of being an almost infinite number of multiple objects, in which it places itself as one of these objects, partitioned and divided into ‘understandable’ and ‘defined’ sections. It places itself as Subject to these Objects and reifies itself as a necessary tool to interact with Objects according to it’s own desires and fears.
    When eliminating the division between ‘Object’ and ‘Subject’ we find that ‘I’ was ‘One’ with everything all along. It just very convincingly did not appear that way.
    It did not appear that way because previously the seeker was identifying with the mind - In essence using the wrong tool in an attempt to understand something this tool is not capable of understanding. Upon perceiving the illusion clearly, the mind does not ‘understand’ but instead simply disappears.
    Therefore the illusion of 'Inside' and 'Outside' proved to be a mind created framework of perception and is not in fact the reality of the situation.
    So what is the reality of the situation? Nothing at all. Nothing is here but space containing an illusory appearance, and the consciousness with which the illusion is perceived is the space in which it appears. No further analysis necessary, just enjoy the recognition forever.

    The mind with reference to itself is reality. Exclusively a mental event. Consciousness living a mind wake.

    I’ve had glimpses of this all my life. I assumed it would always be fleeting until one day I woke up with pure bliss and it stayed with me for almost 2 weeks.
    I couldn’t chase it when it started to dim and I also couldn’t deny it revealed that all of us have this capacity all the time no matter what… except when we identify with our thoughts, experience separation from others, slip into our daily grievances (2 factor authentication is my daily downfall:) and let our traumas take over.
    I’ve listened to Rupert, Eckart and Kastrup because they absolutely exhibit this in their lives and teachings but you - in this video - really showed me something I needed for a next revelation.
    Very grateful to find you today and the birdsong in the background made my heart sing.
    Thank you.

    Does that mean that my wife, my kids, my family, you as a separate person in a video I can watch it’s just an illusion of my mind? How do I count for the presence of other people? Who are you teaching? Are you just teaching the illusion in your mind? Genuine questions

      You have to allow for the possibility that life is but a dream. In every dream we make the same mistake: we identify with the person and regard the rest as other(s).
      Each time it takes awakening to (be able to) realize our mistake: we were the whole dream, experienced from the point of view of the person.
      Any dream appears in consciousness, is perceived by consciousness and consists of nothing but consciousness. All is one.
      Look back on any dream: were the persons appearing in it really separate or just appearances in consciousness?

      @@corinbryant I can understand conceptually what you’re pointing to, that it’s all just oneness experiencing “itself” in a myriad of forms/experiences. But I can’t help but be left with the thought that it’s all so pointless then. That I’m just pulling the wool over my own eyes temporarily, and for what? To die and go “oh it was all a dream” or to ‘wake up” before death and realize that the majority of my life was spent suffering in a prison of my own making. I don’t find that liberating, on the contrary the more I dig into this the more melancholy and numb I’m becoming to this “human experience”. Clearly I haven’t “gotten it”
      Just seems like a cruel universal joke

    • @GeertMeertens
      @GeertMeertens 15 днів тому +4

      @@FromRuinRise Melancholy and numbness can only be taken serious if you identify with the person, a requirement for all suffering.
      Pain is unpleasant but useful: your body is telling you it needs attending to. Suffering is as helpful: it is an alarm telling you your perspective is wrong.
      If you leave the erroneous personal perspective, suffering becomes simply impossible. Awakening is the purpose of suffering.
      Suppose you could dream a dream again but with one difference only: this time you KNOW that you are dreaming
      although you still don't know what will happen or how the dream will end.
      Wouldn't you experience the dream completely different compared to the first time (now knowing you are consciousness dreaming)
      and look around in awe and wonder? Wouldn't that be liberating?

      Yes, but at the core “love” is the only real truth it does seem like our family and pets are also only in a dream, it really believe this is waking many people to awaken that we are in an illusion.

      A fair assumption, however upon inspection we find it only appears that way. What you 'know' in this instance is just the 'feeling' - The separation isn't inherent to the sensation itself, the mind assumes it is separate as a result of the sensation.
      The separation is created afterwards by the mind in response to the pain. From the non-dual perspective this sensation can still appear within the wholeness of being without creating duality, and it still makes sense for the apparent body-mind to avoid these scenarios in non-duality.

    Is mind aware of awareness? It seems to be a busybody that get involved in everything and is affected by where “I” place my attention/awareness. Thx

    • @corinbryant
      @corinbryant  11 днів тому +1

      This is a very good question, only awareness is aware, mind is 'made out of' awareness but mind itself is not aware. All activity of the mind requires conscious attention to function, but consciousness itself is perfectly fine without mind. You are right about the 'busybody' nature of mind and yes the mind is affected by where the attention is placed, so withdrawing attention from everything and instead allowing attention to rest within itself brings the activity of the mind to a close and it can no longer be a busybody.
      I hope I have answered the question here it is a very deep topic and one I will put on the list of upcoming video topics :)

      Really looking for an answer to this because it seems to me that there are things external to us that can affect us so how can this premise be right?

    • @corinbryant
      @corinbryant  16 днів тому +2

      It's a fair question so thank you, to the individual body it appears as though these things are external to us, but the internal/external duality is created by the mind and is not inherent to reality - Yes the body requires food, drink and sunlight, but the food, drink, sunlight and body were never separate to begin with, it was the body that perceived the separation. The body-mind thinks 'I am eating this food' But the reality is that You are the food you are eating as well as the body that is eating it.
      In this understanding everything appears within the same unified whole. In this teaching you recognise you are not limited to a single body mind, but in fact you are the consciousness that is aware of the singular body mind. In time this develops into understanding consciousness is the space in which the unified whole appears and transpires in, and 'You' are this consciousness, everywhere and everything, and the individual body and mind as it appears only appeared to be seperate.

  • @matts7442
    @matts7442 17 днів тому

    There are still separate minds though aren’t there. External histories to oneself and perspectives. Just to be clear. What you are describing is the unity of one’s experience. I don’t see that that equates to there being no external world ontologically.

    • @corinbryant
      @corinbryant  16 днів тому +1

      A fair point so thank you, I didn't go in depth into this at the end of the video as I was aware the video was already quite long and began to exceed the scope of the point I was making initially, I may have to make another video to answer this one fully but in brief: I suggest according to this understanding that although it appears there are separate minds, the consciousness that is aware of each mind is the same one, so 8 billion minds but only 1 awareness.
      To one individual mind it appears the other minds are external, because in order to have an individual mind there must exist the belief in separation. So to one mind it appears yes there are many minds, but to consciousness there is no separation, all minds are perceived by the same singular consciousness. Each mind believing itself to be separate has simply forgotten it's original nature.
      Ontologically speaking the external world as it appears is an illusion, it appears separate to the separate mind. It begins to break down into semantics here, but essentially I am suggesting as the external world only exists as an illusion in the finite mind, and that the finite mind is ultimately also an illusion, there exists no internal/external separation and thus no 'external world'
