    This is incredibly helpful, I am getting the same issues with my white pigment sinking like a rock to the bottom of my molds. Your tutorials are seriously some of the best I've seen on YT, please continue making them! You are clear, detailed, precise and emphasize safety as well as giving us the tools to troubleshoot our own projects in the future. Thank you so much for taking the time to do these, I know it takes far more time than just sitting and recording to put out these videos 💜💜💜💜💜

      yes, pigment weight does have an impact - I have a number of flower videos where I experimented with various timings, tools and techniques ... my favourite is my original one; using a fine paint brush, which adds less pigment and creates delicate blooms.🥰

      @@LiaDiaDesigns I recently bought a small electric heater for use in my craft room when I get into the epoxy resin. That room tends to be colder than the rest of the house & I didn't want to run the big furnace just to warm one room. The only other thing I need now is a set of pigment pastes. I've also learned to buy the best (higher price) pigment pastes I can to get the vivid colors I want! It was just something you said in passing that alerted me to that one. Thanks again!

    Thank you so much for making this video, it was very helpful but, one thing you must keep in mind is that white4 is a very heavy pigment so it will always drop through the most

    • @LiaDiaDesigns
      @LiaDiaDesigns  2 роки тому

      Yes that is true, but you can control how much white paste you mix into the resin, so that also affects how heavy/ how much the white sinks... I've also done some other resin flower styles (not using a piping bag) and the white doesn't sink very much at all, because the technique is different.

      I've heard that some people are starting to do that... after doing a bunch of flower testing videos, I actually really like the defined look of the thicker/ heavier pigmentation compared to the more lighter/ feathery ones.. but everyone has their preference and it's good to know how to do either options 😊 I will definitely be doing a video on adding alcohol and seeing the difference😊💖

    • @LiaDiaDesigns
      @LiaDiaDesigns  Рік тому +1

      I have😊... there are other tutorials on my channel where I've used alcohol inks. I realize that they are easier to create floral effects, but many (many) Resin artists have experienced fading of the alcohol ink colors, some to the extreme where the colors almost completely fade away in months. I prefer to create pieces that keep their beauty for many years in the future for my clients to enjoy💕. I also prefer the florals made from pigment pastes, as you get beautiful depth and details once you master it.

    Thank you very much for this tutorial, I've tried sooo many times and had given up. I waited 25 minutes and thinking I could go to 30 it looked very good other than my piping skills 😂. Is there a reason everyone uses white?

    • @LiaDiaDesigns
      @LiaDiaDesigns  2 роки тому +1

      🤩💕I'm so happy this video has helped you! I think white is popular as it seems to work well for most people without too many issues... but technically any Pigment paste should work to differing levels. Mixing colored Pigments pastes with white is also popular.

    You are so wonderful with your tutorials. I've been struggling with creating petals using the piping bags. Question on the timing of resin please - If I'm waiting for the 25-30 minute mark, is it the resin that it's in the mold or do you also wait that length of time to mix your pigment/paste to place in a piping bag or both? Some artists have suggested that one waits a certain amount of time before piping or even to wait till the temperature of the resin is 'warm'. Your suggestion would be so appreciated.

    • @LiaDiaDesigns
      @LiaDiaDesigns  2 роки тому

      Hi Calli, I'm glad you enjoy my tutorials 😊. In most of my flower tutorials, all the resin for the coaster is mixed at the same time... the clear that goes in the mold and the pigmented resin that is piped in (you'll see I have a few videos where I create flower coasters this way). The video below shows the difference when I mixed a fresh batch of resin for the pigmented resin... so it was newer than the resin in the mold... you can see the results. Everyone has their own preferred method and adjustments they've made based on their resin. Hope this helps! ua-cam.com/video/2A9AKJ4jRds/v-deo.html

      @@LiaDiaDesigns Oh thank you so much! Watched the video you recommended. I didn't realize you could use colored pigments for the 'flower petals' - I've been struggling using the angel white paste from le rez - I seem to be getting better feathering with the castin craft white and not as much as the angel white. And amazing that whether you wait the 25 minutes or fresh batch - the effects are quite similar. I so appreciate your videos and your responses!!!

    • @LiaDiaDesigns
      @LiaDiaDesigns  2 роки тому +1

      I'm so glad you liked it! I haven't used it... but I have heard some resins require the artist to wait upwards of an hour... when your resin thickens something similar to a light syrup... that's when you want to start your first test... from there you can figure out the right timing...

    When you use the heat gun to remove the bubbles.... do you regulate how long you heat it up? Or you keep heating it until all the bubbles are gone? (wouldn't that mean that the resin 'sets' faster and therefore more of a challenge to guess the proper 'go' time.???) Have you tried Krystal Resins new 2:1 resin?

    • @LiaDiaDesigns
      @LiaDiaDesigns  3 роки тому +1

    I think your pigments are too heavy, and/or you use too much. Also layering and layering forces the pigment down. Use less pigment, single layer till it starts working. Check out Julie with Pouring Your Heart Out. She makes these blooms look easy and hers never blob and sink. Maybe her pointers may help.❤

    Just my opinion ...
    I love your work as you are clearly very talented with obviously a ton of experience. However, I was hoping (and kinda expecting), that for the focus being a "teaching" video, that it would be done in real time & not time lapsed.
    The steps you take in your process are just a blur.
    I would not have learned any more than if you just showed each finished coaster, while telling us the recorded time intervals.
    There are so many more variables that impact the end result, but all of that was not captured.
    Because of this, I was disappointed with the structure of this video as unfortunately I didn't get much out of this at all, when the possibilities of learning so much from you are endless & priceless.
    With sincere thanks.
