Get onto nintendo chat or call customer support. It shouldn't cost you anything and takes a few minutes. I just did this the other day. Note that the master key generatedwill only work with a specific inquiry number. If you navigate away on the switch and get a different inquiry number, the master key you got the first time round will not work.

I was given the switch but it is linked to a phone app. Thing is i have no access to that. Did you sort your issue out ? I do see an option to unlink app, not at home now but if i press that it might just look for the password id say ?

enter the password incorrectly until it says to wait 30 minutes
then press help, it should show the screen in the video

Sorry, I was disappointed too when mkey didnt work. Only other way to find a device number is by hacking it, which can be a lot of work.
