Night of the Demon (1980) Movie Review

I continue my 80s movie marathon with a review of the 1980 horror flick Night of the Demon...in other words a very low budget flick in which Bigfoot is pretty much Jason Voorhees' father...
Night of the Demon is a 1980 American horror film directed by James C. Wasson, and written by Jim L. Ball and Mike Williams.
The film centers on a group of scientists who set off on an expedition to prove the existence of Bigfoot only to be stalked and slaughtered by the creature.
Due to the film's graphic violence, it was listed as a "video nasty" by the British Board of Film Classification, and underwent heavy censorship.

I found the Wanda subplot to be just as unsettling as the ending massacre scene. She's the most developed character in the film. During the massacre scene, she's so nonchalant about what's going on.
Apparently, the original negative is lost and the DVD release that this had used a master tape from a VHS release.

Night Of The Demon 1980 was officially released on DVD by Code Red. I have the dvd. Hopefully we get a Blu ray from Arrow or another distributor one day.

I saw this in 1982 in my good mates house and he got the film from "under the counter" in his mates video shop!!! How times have changed, sadly! Great film, lots of gore esp the biker stoppin for a burst and well ule see, ouch baby!!!

The only NIGHT OF THE DEMON (CURSE OF THE DEMON) in the States) to watch is a 1957 version.
Spooky as hell, adaptation from a classic M.R. James story.

Sounds like good cheese 6 pack lol :-) I've always got a kick out of B movies,it's not taken seriously and that's it's charm in my humble opinion :-) it's way I enjoy sleepaway camp 2&3,creepshow 2(my favorite horror anthology film) night of the Creeps,night of the demons,feast series etc
