It’s so funny cause it’s a very close contact sport, but you’re so focused on trying to win/not die, I feel like it doesn’t really cross your mind (at least that’s how I feel when I roll)
I’m very fortunate that I’ve never had any inappropriate interactions with folks, especially as experiencing SA was what brought me to BJJ. Finding a good gym and good community makes such a difference

Yeah in a gym I went to we literally practiced "shrimping" which was little wiggle-shimmies across the mat as a warmup before practice. It helped us to get used to the action.
They called it “shrimping” when I was taught 😂

These were some of my favorite videos Julien did with Jenna. It's great to see him instruct others. Ethan's reactions were hilarious and everything was surprisingly educational. Julien would be a good teacher if he decided to become one.

Jenna's videos with Julien actually introduced me to BJJ, I have been training around five times a week for over ten moths now, and I can't really imagine my week without it. Julien is a good teacher! The brief time I taught classes in martial arts they advised us the importance of "praise, correct, praise" and he's so positive about Ethan's progress (which is even more important for beginners) 💖
You could SEE Julian reliving trying to teach Jenna at 1:25 and the fact that it happened so early bodes very well for the rest of the video

Julien is such a good teacher, you can tell it’s so fun for him to teach people something new! Wow I didn’t realize BJJ was that intense it looks like you could get hurt so easily, like one wrong move and you break your arm or something. Julien must be crazy strong and athletic to be able to do this sport so easily. This was such a cool collab, great video!

I've been doing BJJ for about 6 years, and watching this was really really cool!!
I'm currently a blue belt in BJJ, so I'm in the territory of getting my ass kicked by techniques with tons of little details that makes the move more solid. I really like watching higher ranked people teach or show the fundamentals because I can analyze what makes the technique more successful, and improve my own skills :)
I also really like expirimenting with moves that are harder to perform (inverting, x guard, de la riva, bow and arrow, etc.) because I think it's really fun to just fuck around and find strange positions from complex areas.
Also I thought it was really funny when they talked about some people having "freaky bodies" and they might not tap to certain submissions.
Idk why but I can hang from my ankles in an ankle lock and it does not hurt at all. My instuctor is like 6'5 and he picked my up while he had double ankle locks on me, and I started doing curls lol. My buddies call me a freak as a joke sometimes LMAOO
