  • "The Legend of the Sword in the Stone" music and lyrics by Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman. Hoping Randy Thornton or someone else in Disney Co. will produce the Original Sound Track of this wonderful masterpiece of animation (I'd like to hear "Robin Hood", "The Rescuers" and "The Fox and the Hound" as well).
    A legend is sung
    Of when England was young
And knights were brave and bold
    The good king had died
    And no one could decide
Who was rightful heir to the throne
    It seemed that the land
    Would be torn by war
Or saved by a miracle alone
    And that miracle appeared
    In London town
    The sword in the stone
(And below the hilt, in letters of gold, were written these words: Whoso pulleth this sword from this stone and anvil is rightwise king born of England)
Though they tried for the sword
    With all their might
    No knight
    In all the land
    Could draw the wondrous blade
    From its resting place
Its secret, they could not understand
The one who was meant to rule the land
    And worthy of the throne
He will seek the sword with a humble heart
    And not for himself alone
He will be the one who was born to claim
    The Sword In The Stone
All the rights for it belongs to the Disney Company. It was not meant for profit.

Music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, sung by Fred Darian. Fred was born in the States in 1927, an actor and a composer himself. He starred in "Cuban Calypso", "Out of Sight" (he was the composer of that movie), "Walk the Dark Street" and was part of the "Colgate Comedy Hour". This song should be used in the trailer for the planned live action, Disney film of the sword in the stone.Maybe a more haunting or ominous version and the first teaser should show off imagery that matches the lyrics then when it says the sword in the stone the title should come up. When it says the miracle appeared that should be the first time in the trailer we see Merlin, maybe stepping from the shadows. Derek Jacobi would make a good Merlin like the animated one, Disney should cast him.

One of the only things I like about the constant and unnecessary live action remakes is the beautifully forced epicness of the trailer versions of these iconic songs. It's there in the Aladdin trailer, Maleficent did it with Lana Del Ray's Once Upon a Dream, even the Nutcracker (which of course I know isn't a remake but still). I look forward to the Inception bwarms bombastically sounding through a full on orchestral instrumental version of this song.

Though many men tried for the sword with all their strength, none could move the sword nor stir it. So the miracle had not worked. The peoples of England was still without a king. And in time, the marvelous sword was forgotten.

Thanks for uplording. I first heard this version recorded DQ1287(LP), Disneyland Record, coupled with "Tubby the Tuba" ,which releaced at London in 1970 as one of "Disneyland Castle Series". The second verse was not used in original movie.

Movies back then were absolutely magical in storytelling and scope. The beautiful scores were final icing on the cake 🎂. There's no magic or inspiration anymore 😢, seems to be all political and personal agendas and corporate profit. I've noticed that most movie scores sound very generic with "NO" hearts or emotions. I really want to bringing the back those types of movies that I grew up with ever since I was toddler and younger ages in 2000s era with more "Absolutely Magical", "Storytelling" and "Scope". Even more "Heart and Emotion". There totally needs to be a time when humans really need to make a "True" animated movie that touched the soul and heart of the viewers of all ages. Somebody hand-drawn and computer animation, it's not just the movies, TV shows as well for all ages on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, and the Walt Disney company needs to take there place in the circle of animations shows and movies for everyone. I hope sometimes in the future, My family would see the newspaper or different articles on the internet of their own cellphones 📱 about I finally got my dream job as "Ian Cassidy save the Walt Disney Company for bringing the 2-D animated style in order pay homage and tribute to past Disney's 2-D animated style movies were made in old glory days". "Ian Cassidy made his promise to have more Magic and/or Inspiration from 2-D animated movies from Disney."Walt Disney Company made an agreement with Ian Cassidy to have Disney's 2-D animated style movies to have music to be more Heart and Emotion with Absolutely Magical, Storytelling and Scope as well". "The Walt Disney Company celebrated Ian Cassidy's birthday party for being our Savior of bringing the old school Disney 2-D animated style movies." I'm thinking Disney stuff never meant always for kids, it's for everyone, mostly adults, back in the day, same with Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry, unlike nowadays. Everything is for kids and family. Movies back then taught us about the importance of friendship, loyalty, kindness, compassion, determination, etc. A lot of movies do that, but there are still some good ones. The main ones that are awful to me are intentionally bad just for money, a cash grab. 😒 Cause The old Disney movies were so awesome. I had a little dark things that you don't see now those days in Disney movies. Movies still have an important message, though, but the movies are too sweet. There's a video Looney Tunes that they are soft and not that dangerous silliness we know. Because it's saver for the kids? I mean I can understand kids now those days are misunderstanding and would do anything for likes and views but making the cartoons soft won't change the fact that they grow up to be misunderstood, they become uncaring anyways because of the internet. People became too soft, with real snowflakes. Wow, I really missed the good old days when Cartoons were good. Today, it's a quick cash grab, with the use of effects and big names in the movies. I love the storytelling part, the sending a message to the audience, that's what should be, the soul and heart needs to come back in films and Hollywood became too powerful, meaning they can get away with making bad movies. Back then, movies had individualist them. Today, it's about ideas like social justice and feminism. Those ideas take away from the true hero's journey and make it difficult to identify with the characters. This is the reason so many people nowadays just stick with the older movies, and the ones grew up with them because that's precisely what those kinds of movies did for them. They were heartfelt, funny, for all the ages, full of value, and are consistently good every time you watch them. While one of the purposes was the company to make money, they still wanted to deliver a quality product to the viewers, and it feels like they've lost that. We took for granted 💔 how well animated movies in the 1990s and 2000s were, outside the animation being revolutionary for its time, the writing was also well written that even being 30. I can still watch movies like Ice Age (2002) and actually enjoy them. Yes, and a lot have avoided those powerful, morally complex stories in favor of something safer. Sure, the effects look amazing, but the heart isn't there anymore, The Toy Story series is an exception because all fours are capable of rivaling each other. Who says that Disney movies are just for kids? Adults can watch it as well, They have some life lessons which apply to both kids and adults. For example, what do we learn from The Little Mermaid, from my perspective, that movie learned us that never sell yourself to an evil person, also if the deal is bad, don't take it. What about Cinderella? It taught us that dreams can come true and that no matter with circumstances, they are always good and kind. What about Pocahontas? Love conquer all, and one must find their own way, other movies that have powerful messages, and excellent music. Nowadays, everything must be political ,which is sad and heartbreaking 💔. I definitely want to bring it back for my dream job in the future. Movies today are made to appeal to as wide an audience as possible and make as much money as possible. Back in the day, while profit and marketability were important, producers and directors had more freedom to be creative and make movies that were original, innovative, and memorable. People think it's all nostalgia goggles and being unfair to modern movies, but no. It's all the value and quality of the movies back then, the delivery, lessons, everything all that is gone nowadays. Technology creates the story these days, not the soul of the writer. Like how back in the old good days, we didn't over-analyze anything. We just sat back and enjoyed stuff. 😉 Animated movies are not like what they once were. The effort, the details, and the passion just aren't there anymore in modern animated movies, really sad. Movies nowadays are made by algorithms, not people. Today's cartoons don't have as many good, fun, and exciting masterpieces as the old cartoons. Too political... everything has to have "a message"... and the sense of pure fun is missing. I also find alot of movies nowadays try to be comedy's with over the top cringey dialogue and try way to hard to be funny, Not everybody wants to be laughing throughout the entirety of the movie (Or so they expect us to be laughing). It seriously is heartbreaking to see all that hard work and time people put into a film only for it to be completely thrown out near the end because studio executives lost faith in it. I can't imagine how frustrating that is. We don't want or need a joke every two seconds. Just give us a movie where the serious scenes don't get ruined by an out of place joke. That's not how movies should be made. Technology is supposed to simplify our lives and should not mean taking responsibilities away from us altogether. Box Office movies nowadays wouldn't even hold a candle even to a classic cartoon like This (The Land Before Time) in terms of depth and feel. Those big hits feel like they are just watched because of their name brand, not because of the quality itself at all. Once you watch them, they make you feel like you just wasted your time leading up to it and the huge money of it, too. That's why I feel like a winner when I don't watch the movies of this decade or even the past decade.

I have an old French vinyle disc with the whole version of the song; there is the translation's text:
    "D'après la légende
    L'Angleterre autrefois
    Avait un si bon roi
    Que lorsqu'il mourut
    Nul ne put décider
    Qui serait son noble héritier
Alors le pays pleura son destin
    Lorsqu'un miracle un matin survint
Car dans la ville de Londres
    On vit soudain
Do someone could add the whole English version, but without the reading of the sword's words?
