GREAT JOB TO BOTH LINES. Hampton has came a long way in the past few years. They look and sound good. Can’t wait for these two matchups in the future !!
My take on this. Being an MD fan for about 15 years now I can say that the snare line is dirtier than usual. Overall MDF$ narrowly pulled this out only because they had a little more groove to their cadences and you can hear the tonals. Hampton has a clean snare section and is cleaner than I've ever heard them, but the only thing that is a pet peeve of mine and that holds them back is the fact that Hampton's top three tonals (bass drums) are tuned too high, and the lower bass drum has no pitch and is dead tuned. The pitches of the top bass drums clashes with the quints and the pitches of the single tenor drums. Hampton has really come up over the past few years. MD better tighten up forreal. Clean those snares up. ASAP!!
This is the difference for sure. This is why I say MD has a more mature sound the tuning is 60% of that the. The arrangement is the next 30% they just gotta lock it in just a lil tighter for that last 10% the lock between the sub sections as a whole was just a little off, more that usual for sure. Hampton has come a long way, we battled them at least twice when I played. Do I hear the CS influences yes but what do expect when A&T literally brought there old head BD to direct and some CS alum to run the line it’s the same when u hear MD influence throughout different lines or Cookmen alum take on other school ie EWC or MOrgan. It’s natural.
