Great video..the best in youtube!!
Thanks man, appreciate it !
Great video. Thank you.
I have the 2003 C220 cdi. I just accidentally bought a panel air filter instead of the cylindrical filter. Least I know now
Good video friend .
That was so good
I see you use 40 Oil not 30
niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice bro
Hi, many thanks for your superb video!!! I've seen others and they use an oil filter cup removal tool you only tight it by hand, is it enough?
Hi @ACM There, I've also used an oil filter tool to tighten it just a little more. :)
@@anthonyvds all right, many thanks!
By the way, regarding the ATF flush I believe it's impossible a full drain because the torque converter has no plug, so just replacing from the ATF pan will drain 3.5 l out of the 8 l capacity. Do you have have recommendations? Thank you very much in advance.
Kind regards
@@acmthere3674 Hi! Mercedes dealers suck these automatic gearboxes empty if I'm not mistaken. This way they can get most of it out and it's also a little easier to do.
@@anthonyvds Many thanks! I'll consider to get a pump then.
Kind regards
Pumping the oil out like that wouldn't it need an engine flush? Good video by the way
This way is just a bit faster. The best thing to do is indeed draining the oil from underneath the car. But if you just pump all the oil out thoroughly, pumping out is also fine.
good video and nice song, mercedes is hard car need to inprovise like Bear Grylls
Hey great video. I will certainly do this myself next time. Just one question how do you get the red oil dipstick cover off. I have tried and tried but it seems to be stuck fast. Is it a push fitting or screw cap?
You have to wiggle it a little bit from side to side, it is just a push fitting indeed. But in my case it isn't very useful since the only way I can check my oil level is via the on-board computer.
Hi Anthony, brilliant video thank you. I do all my own servicing and enjoy learning. I've serviced my E220cdi 210 model for the last 7 years and when changing the fuel filter it was easy , just top up the holder with diesel and your done. However recently l both a 2009 E220 Cdi 211 model with the fuel filter as you have in your video. When you replace it with a new one how do you prime the filter with diesel ? ? so there is no air locks. Do you just turn the key and wait a minute and let pump fill up the fuel filter ? and then start the engine. l'd be grateful for any help, regards Larry
Thanks Larry for your comment, really appreciate it. And yes, to fill up the fuel filter you just have to put on the ignition and wait a few seconds, this will fill up the filter and you won't have any air locked inside. Hope this helped you out.
anthony vds Thanks a million Anthony, very much appreciated, cheers Larry
Should I refill with 6.5 ltrs even though some may remain from before?
Thanks
@Michael Sims, No indeed, definitely go with 5,5-6 litres first and then check whether you can still add oil or not... if you don't have an oil dipstick, you can check this via the boardcomputer of the car. Grtz
@@anthonyvds thanks, too late it wrecked on 6.5 😭
dont you have to bleed the fuel filter as it's empty?
do you have any oil consumption with 0w-40 ? It is a very thin oil. I have the same om646 engine without the Dpf
Hello @joesaric1, it is indeed a thin oil but I have no oil consumption whatshowever. :)
@@anthonyvds does it really have a lower fuel consumption ? I am about to choose this or Mobil 5w-40. Any advice ?
@@joesaric1 Fuel consumption is quite the same I think. I have now around 200k km's and I will be using 5w30. I just feel more comfortable with it. 5w40 is also an option.
Happy new year. Is the same procedure for e220 cdi 2005?do you know
Hello @Man bites Life, For you also a good and healthy 2021! This is indeed the same for the e220CDI (W211) (with the OM646)
@@anthonyvds Thank you so much!
@@anthonyvds You gave me confidence to work on my car after 15 years
@@manbiteslife3110 Awesome! Good luck with the service of your car!
Hi anthony vds, your video is very helpful! Why do you use 0W-40 oil? I use a 5W-30 oil, is it ok?
Yes 5W-30 is perfectly fine. These numbers refer to the viscosity of the oil when cold/hot. Thanks for your comment !
@@anthonyvds hello, i have same car, and i use oil 5/40 is it ok this oil? thanks
@@AlbparajsaPortal The viscosity of the oil is for one part depending on which engine you have. But it also depends which climate you live in.
anthony vds i have w203 benz, and live ne country with hot clima, (summer 30-40 cencius, winter 15-0 celcius. which is better 5/30 or 5/40?
@@AlbparajsaPortal If you often go for long drives the 5w30 is better. But when you drive more short distances, I would go for 5w40.
Does the fuel filter need to get primed?
No, this is not necessary. Just, when you've replaced the filter, wait 30 seconds with the ignition on before you start the car. This is al it takes...
I have a high mileage w203 cdi 220. I use 10w40 oil. Is that okay ?

HOW ABOUT DOING A DIESEL FUEL PURGE ON YOUR COMMON RAIL DIRECT INJECTION MOTOR. CANT FIND A VIDEO ANYWHERE, MUST BE HARD TO DO
I will take this in mind. Thanks for your advice!
@@anthonyvdsmy mercedes e220 cdi 2006 pick up problam only 85ph speed
@@ranasharjeelali5212 The best you could do is to read out the car to be sure what exact the problem is. Usually this is something like air mass meter or oxygensensor.
Hi blessed 2021 hope u well, will this be the same on my c32??
Hi @Jake Jameson, it will be different on the C32
I have the same car a w203 2005 Avantgarde c220 cdi model.
Did you not change the pollen / cabin air filter? plus I normally use the 'mahle original' brand but mann is good to.
I have no dipstick but you can get one from eBay
Hi, yes I already changed the pollen filter that's why it is not in the video.
Hu718/1k Is it also suitable for c180 kompressor t model(2006)?
Hello @marian G, for a C180 Kompressor it should be: HU514X :)
are these steps going to be similar on E320 CDI as well?
Yes, only the amount of oil, what fuel filter, etc .. will be different. But the steps are the same.
anthony vds thank you so much, this is awesome stuff.
Is that a siphoning pump that you used? Where can I find one?
Yes indeed & you can find one in an autoparts store or just online.
Tell the location of the throttle body E 220 to pass, w211, 2004. I can not find the location
I don't know the exact location, but it should be somewhere in front of your inlet manifold. Where the hose of your intercooler attaches to.
Is there no sump nut to drain oil
Yes there is one. And to be honest, using the drainplug is actually the better option. But it costs you a little bit of extra time.
@@anthonyvds thanks for info. Sump nut is usually the way I go. Never serviced a Merc before so I wasn't sure. Thanks
Can i drain oil from bottom of engine ?
express DIY Yes, you just have to remove the plastic skidplate to get to the bolt.
hi anthony, i wanted to ask, how often does one need to change their diesel filter?
Every big maintenance you should change this, like every 50000 km or so..
1998 w202 2200cdi mobil 6lt ??6.5lt?🤔
yes indeed.
DID YOU TRIM THE BOTTOM OF YOUR FUNNEL SO THAT IT WOULD NOT TILT SIDEWAYS IN THE OIL FILL HOLE
No, it's just a small bottom end and that's why it doesn't tilt. ;)
Thanks excellent video.
I would also disconnect that stupid EGR valve..
Has been disabled through software :)
@@anthonyvds how u made it? Cause I just disconnected the cable but I have that annoying check engine light
Mik B This can be done via the OBD port, but you need a softwaretool for this. So maybe stop by by a chiptuner... Hope this helps you out !
0- 40???no 5-30??
Music actually pissed me off so bad I just stopped watching 15 seconds in
Om 646
