Fun story. Tom Osborne is about as down to earth as a person as you will ever find! He actually owned (sold it a couple years ago) a small lake outside of the city that I live in...in Central Nebraska. My Dad knows Tom really well and we would go out and visit him & Nancy from time-to-time. Most summer days, Tom would be in the middle of his lake fishing away in his little boat. Him and Nancy were often seen taking walks on a nature trail just outside of town and attending a local church. Anyway, really a kind and amazing Man!!
Beautiful stadium. CFB is better when Nebraska is competitive. Im glad they've got a coach now that is sure to turn 'em around. I hope all our Big 8 brethren are happy with their decisions about their futures in conference alignment. The times they are a changing. This Sooner fan wouldn't mind play games between OU OSU and Nebraska on a regular rotation. Good Luck All
The side you like is considered the front. As the stadium has grown it was built around the original so you can appreciate the original stadium architecture when you’re walking around. Nebraska won 87% of their football games for 25+ years. Consecutive sellouts since 1962. More academic all Americans than any other school. There are quotes all around the stadium etched into the building that are words to live by. The gym and operations have moved several times over the years. The staff and team used to be in the South end and they came out of the tunnel down there. When they expanded and built the North end with the Jumbotron the team relocated there. The last building is the Champions Club. Built for donors to tailgate and hangout close to the stadium. People actually watch games there too. “There is no place like Nebraska”
Thanks for posting this! I hope you can revisit it next season after the Go Big facility opens ($165 million facility due to open this summer.) You can see renderings of it online, it looks incredible.
The first statue is Bob Devaney and the second is Tom Osborne and Brook Berringer. The South education area was the old football offices. The massive walkway connects the football and baseball stadiums.
At 8:36 you were discussing those stairs, that walk from there north in the winter for classes was always so cold as the wind would gust between the practice facility, and the buildings. Oh and all that parking is student parking however kiss it goodbye on weekends. If you leave your spot on a game day you don't get to come back. AKRS is a john deere dealership chain in Nebraska and thus the main sponsor on the building.
In the southeast corner there’s a self tour entrance, the brick building by the bridge has beach volleyball practice facilities and a couple other things if I remember correctly
you are mistaken the brick part of the Hawks Championship center was built at the same time as the indoor practice field and the Tom and Nancy Osborne athletic Complex opened in 2006 The "Brick" on the West side was added around 2009 or 10
Literally the greatest venue in college football. To continue their sellout streak over consecutive seasons of losing streaks speaks volumes about the fan base. Other than Colorado or Iowa Hawkeye fans they will treat you as one of their own.. They fill the stadium win or lose with 90000 people which is more capacity than most NFL stadiums. NFL missing a lucrative diamond in the rough for themselves in Lincoln. They’d fill 8 home games a season easy there for a pro team in the state. They take over some opponents stadiums with their own fans at times even. Sea of Red is madness. The Boneyard is an experience unlike no other for sure.
They had a game or two last year where attendance was around 70k; the colder games. People are keeping their season tickets, but not necessarily attending. And, Nebraska just lowered the price of their season tickets too.
The reason you didn’t see the name on the first statue is because that’s a new one I think, so it isn’t finished yet but it was Devaney, also I haven’t finished the video at the time of this comment but I don’t know if you found the entrance to the student section, but there is a little red gate (23A) and certain times it’s unlocked for visitors to go inside the stadium, for free. And there’s a fenced off area so you can stand inside and look down at the field and the rest of the stadium from inside the student section.
I haven’t been back to the campus in ages… so it’s a bit heartbreaking to see that the track I used to enjoy running on (between the stadium and coliseum) is now obliterated by the new construction. Oh well…
All that money “wasted” on sh*tty big 10 football. Football was a million times better 40-50 years ago when it was “just football & homework”, no over inflated coaches salaries(coach Tom Osborne’s last contract, early 90’s was $250,000 a year) no nil, no transfer portal. Back in the day when you “signed” with a school(Nebraska) you were there for 4 years. You got a “free” education because you could play football. Also, back in the day dudes gave up “full ride” scholarships to other schools, to “walk on” at Nebraska because they wanted to play for T.O.💯💯💯
Yeah and how's that football thing working out for Nebraska not very well they haven't won a right to go to any bowl games in the last what 10 12 years there has been or as was
That's life. Things change, so I guess we'll wait and see whether Nebraska can rebuild. That isn't easy in the era of the Portal: it giveth and taketh away, essentially pandering to the worst feature of the current generation.
I've been to that stadium and it's amazing and intimidating...Nebraska needs to be back, it's good for college football.

People like you are why I love Oklahoma as a Nebraska fan. No antics, just a healthy rivalry. Not anymore so much with the rivalry tho lol.

Thank you for the kind words and the nice video about the stadium. 😊
This is an awesome stadium❣️ Thank you for sharing this with me 🤠. I really like the red brick 🧱. This stadium is a must visit.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you enjoyed your stay!
You guys will love Zane Flores respect from Nebraska

thank you for the clarification

Thanks for the post! Gives me chills every time I see memorial
Nice work! It is a beautiful stadium for sure!
In the southeast corner there’s a self tour entrance, the brick building by the bridge has beach volleyball practice facilities and a couple other things if I remember correctly
The first building that you approached and recognized it was the gym is new. The other gym that you remembered was the old “Champions Center.”
thank you for clearing that up
Quite expensive to park there almost 100 grand
you are mistaken the brick part of the Hawks Championship center was built at the same time as the indoor practice field and the Tom and Nancy Osborne athletic Complex opened in 2006 The "Brick" on the West side was added around 2009 or 10
you are probably right, I just did not remember it being there from when I saw it in 2010; but then again it was 13 years ago.
Oklahoma state fan and I live 30 minutes from Lincoln.
5:50 There's a plaque in front of the base of the statue of Coach Bob Devaney
you should have gone in gate 23A to see the field
Happened to click on this video and u highlighted the apartments I’m currently living in lol

I live in Nebraska. They don’t fill the stadium anymore they just buy all the tickets so it’s a sellout and part of the stadium is empty every week.
They had a game or two last year where attendance was around 70k; the colder games. People are keeping their season tickets, but not necessarily attending. And, Nebraska just lowered the price of their season tickets too.

7:26 Inside the new exterior of the stadium, you can see the original exterior (I believe it's made of granite)
U should come back during the season

There is a nice new track north of the Devaney Center. I wonder what will happen to the columns.
@@quatele - yikes, I hadn’t thought about the nearby columns! I hope they were relocated to an even better spot than they had.
I don’t think that’s a memorial For both. That’s a plaque honoring them. coach Osborne is still alive, but Devaney passed away quite a few years ago.
12:13 The north end of the stadium.

They were in a bowl game at the end of the 2016 season, so 6 years.

This is not college football. It’s the minor leagues.
