  • Football shirt designer and all round kit expert Rob Warner joins us on the podcast to discuss the quality of Aston Villa's shirts which we've seen dripping with sweat in matches so far.
    Castore: “There has been some media speculation about a potential issue in the football kit supplied by Castore to Aston Villa Football Club. We are working closely in collaboration with the club to address this issue as quickly as possible to meet the standards we expect. We would like to thank the club for their patience and support to date.”
    "As a proud new British brand, we always hold ourselves to the highest of standards and strive to do everything we can to constantly improve the performance of our products. This means addressing any customer concerns with promptness and humility.”

    Thanks Dan, Rob. The detailed explanation was very interesting.
    Not sure if you heard, but Newcastle fans complained about the poor quality of their Castore shirts. The club recognized that the material was inferior and they quickly reacted, cancelled their contract and moved on.
    My question is, why didn't the Villa react to what they could see with their own eyes. Its now Sept 28th and the club is only doing something about it now. Not good enough, its embarrassingly unprofessional in my opinion especially as now national media are talking about it 🤦‍♀️

    • @sebblackmore3697
      @sebblackmore3697 10 місяців тому

      Its the same reason why we are happy to have BK8 as the main shirt sponsor, even though Norwich got rid of them swiftly when their fans spoke up. Money talks.
      Europe(3rd tier version)has been used to blind supporters with optimism. Hype up the eagerly anticipated return to that competition, while dishing out an inferior product eleswheres. Jump on the bandwagon, but notice the subtle nuances at the same time. This week alone, talk of another new club badge. Kits that are a lower pro standard that Under Armour/Luke/Kappa. Olsen, Dendoncker, Tielemans, over Philogene Bidace, Carney and Archer.
      Kesler Hayden should be around for nights like yesterday. Barry and Finn Azaz too. To mass produce a fit for purpose sporting garment takes months/years. When the object of the club is to make money, quality and standards gets pushed to the side. What track record do Castore have in the marketplace? What kind of relationship did Gerrard have with the brand? Rangers had Castore also. Unprofessionalism spreads faster than the alternative. Short sighted money grabs

  • @coconuts4596
    @coconuts4596 10 місяців тому +2

    Great show lads. I would add that the kits should launch 2 weeks before the season. When the 3rd kit (which is usually the most interesting or unique or fashionable) comes out in mid September, your shirt is going to be out of date by May, then it really makes the price hurt a bit more knowing that it will only be used for 3-4 games and only for 8 months rather than the full year.

    It looks like the finish is on the wrong side and moisture is being trapped. The worst so far was in Florida with 90% humidity and in Poland in high 20 heat. Seems worse on the claret material, maybe it's ok on the away and 3rd kit. Seen some Chelsea shirts in similar state made by Nike, in the weekend game but it was less noticeable on the blue. Feel a bit sorry for Castore and hope they can sort it.

    This shirt seems to have a ‘satin’ finish (for want of a better term) to the material, so in IMO this would add to the ‘wet look’. This type of finish I would expect to be more ‘clingy’ too, which would feel horrible when wet and deformed not something you’d want. Clearly the material appears to not be the suitable for the job at hand. On a funny note, it would be funny to see a fan throw the shirt back when a player donates it to a fan! (Joke obvs!).

    Castore needs to be binned ASAP, Villa needs to be fully compensated, and a new shirt made NOW-drop all else and prioritise a new shirt. In the meantime last season or Luke shirts can be worn.
    I also have to consider why did has happened to Villa; is it deliberate, because we may be a threat to the so called 'big 6' clubs.

    What can go wrong if your CEO is 33 years old. Their whole schtick was they would have production in europe to respond to clubs demands but seem to have shifted to China. Clear misrepresentation to investors. FTXesque.

    Powers that be - "How do we slow down a team on the rise that we hate, I know, we'll tell & pay their kit suppliers to make it extra heat provoking so they sweat alot more, dehydrate & tire out faster, job done, they'll never know" lol Simplest answer is usually the right one.✌🏼

      You genuinely can't rule this out but most likely is a manufacturing issue, perhaps Castore have a new supplier and somehow QA has not been done properly.

    Absolute DIGRACE!! Embarrassing beyond belief, Villa Women shud point blank REFUSE to wear kit! In light of #MeToo and rampant sexist behaviour in Spanish Football! To Make Villa women wear this kit for next 4 games is scandalous and a National Disgrace! VILLA and the whole of UK sport should bin this kit immediately! The Sporting World will watch if Villa women are forced to wear this joke kit against their very real concerns! 🙏

      Castore is Manchester based. Made there I think although an Indian group are major shareholders so I'd imagine a lot is made in India. Castore on 8 years old so will be some learning issues and there's a good chance they are actually using a really light and more expensive material that is just not suited

    Kit material 75% polyester, 25% elastane. LOL there is nothing to see here, inorganic material, bad for the human body. Test yourself, wear a Villa Shirt on holiday then try a 100% Cotton Shirt, a natural material. Weight of the material make sit bad to worse period. You never should wear this garbage. He will not say it is crap, he would be biting the hand that fed him. 100% Cotton is the answer to any sport shirt when body heat is high.....This guy is talking bollocks
