    Hi Marie! I tried this recipe for the first time about 2-3 months back, when due to my clumsiness some water accidentally fell into my recipe. So my bar did not harden and was soft and mush even after cure period of a couple of weeks. But at my second trial I made sure I was extra careful and it turned out perfectly! This is the best bar for not only my face but also my body! Love it! Thank you!

    Your tutorials are awesome. May I please know if ASM matters in cleansing bars. From the research I gathered the "ideal" ASM of face cleansers is 8-10% but in your formula it's quite high. Does that have any effect on the skin?

    can you please please please make a formulation for a Acidified Cleansing Bar that contains mandelic acid? I am a huge fan of Lume but it's so expensive and I can only get it on Amazon :(, if you could do this and/or maybe a similar to Lume's deodorant recipe would be awesome, I'm sure many of your viewers would love that. Stinky pits are real and good products that work are so expensive :((

    Hi Marie, i found that cationic surfactants (positively charged) and anionic surfactants (negatively charged) will cancel each other. But anionics, ampotherics, and nonionics can be combined. If this is true then, in this recipe it is best to replace BTMS 50, a cationic emulsifyer, with a nonionic emulsifyer like emulsifying wax NF to keep the negative charge of SCI.

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  4 роки тому +1

      The original has both, which is why I used both :) I've also read that the opposing charges can make for a gentler product, though I've only really found one source for that statement so I'm not sure how much weight I give it.

    What difference does it make skinwise to use this syndet bar instead of a reg soap? Love ur videos btw

    • @Elvoalven
      @Elvoalven 5 років тому +4

      Regular bar soap will have an alkaline pH, which isn’t great for our skin, especially with repeated use. Over time it may affect your skin’s acid mantle and its ability to recover from having the pH disturbed. A surfactant-based bar like this one is balanced to be around 5.5 on the pH scale, which is where our skin is most happy. :)

    I was looking for a probiotics cleansing bar (soap replacement) so it would have a ph of 5ish and probiotics in it, as well as not having reach during the process a high temp, and of course no lye, I think this is similar to what that would be but now quite, do you have any idea how one should go about attempting to make a probiotic bar for cleansing purposes?

    I've been thinking about preservatives recently and have been struggling. Your blog post says because this product will be in contact with water frequently you will need a preservative. My struggle is that when I make a product that doesn't contain water I assume I don't need a preservative. Help me understand.

    • @thecozyconstellation
      @thecozyconstellation 5 років тому +2

      anything that comes in contact with water can develop bacteria.
      so if you have an anhydrous product, such as dry clay, for example, but then you stick a wet hand into the clay, the water wil contaminate the clay. see?

    • @christopherspence9412
      @christopherspence9412 5 років тому +1

      @@thecozyconstellation so you would add a preservative to clay or another anhydrous product that would come into contact with water? This leads me to wonder if the need for a preservative is influenced by the pH of the product.

    • @catzkeet4860
      @catzkeet4860 5 років тому +5

      Christopher Spence well no. In that example you’d simply avoid getting the whole amount of product wet. Example is the clay cleanser that Marie did quite some time ago. This is anhydrous and for my own use I don’t add preservative because I know that’s the case and I know to not get water in it or stick fingers in it at all. I use a popsicle stick. However I also give it to a friend, and although I have explained this to her, I do add preservative to hers because, if she forgets, I don’t want there to be issues. It’s pretty simple really. Anything that contains, or has water added to it, can be bacterially contaminated. If you added water, add preservative. If you think there’s a good chance the end user will add water (taking a container into the shower, using wet fingers to dispense product etc) add preservative. I’d also add preservative to anything you think people are gonna stick their fingers into.

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
