I totally agree. I have used both and I always end up keeping the the things I make in Adobe Express. The only problem I have had is Chrome does not like it on my Mac. But I got past it. So I am not going to continue using Canva. No need to pay for it when I use Adobe Express. Great job on the video.
I have been using Adobe products from Photoshop 3.0, to see the way things have progressed in the last 3 decades is so awesome. I am still getting to know Adobe Express. Thank you for the wonderful video
Adobe Express, as of Sept 17, 2023, does not have "bulk create" which is a SUPER useful/critical tool, and Canva DOES have it. That feature/tool is THE reason I can't switch to Adobe Express.
Yes! Agreed. I feel like I keep discovering amazing features in the "Add-ons" - so much fun! I know that Canva has more add-ons, but their directory is really hard to navigate.
Whether we like it or not the Adobe CC remains the most powerful collection of design tools out there. In terms of overall design capability/functionality: Level 1: MS PowerPoint, Canva, Visme, LibreOffice Draw, etc.; Level 2.: CorelDRAW, GIMP, Affinity Designer, Inkscape, Krita, etc.; Level 3: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Express, etc. Peace.
Hi, it is nice that you only speak about the pros, but there are so many issues with Adobe Express. There are no rulers or guides, the text boxes or any object on the page has no coordinates or widths heights as numbers this make it super hard to align text boxes etc on multiple pages like calendars. The image upload doesn't always work if they are large images for print. There is no feature that makes it easy to work on multiple page designs.
As I designer I prefer the tool that fits my workflow which adobe express is however Canva is designed for users who don’t have a design background. Adobes marketing needs to do a better job at making adobe express appear to be as easy or easier to use than Canva. In that context text adobe is playing catch up.
great to see the possibilities in AExpress. Strange that Adobe support import from PS, AI, PDF, but not from InDesign. Wish they added import support for InDesign in the future. But will give this a go thanks to your video here. Good work Phil 👍👍👍
Transparency in AI? If they were transparent, they would tell us whose photos they sampled to create their tools and whether or not those photographers and illustrators were compensated (which were not).
Thank you so much for this video! I never knew about the majority of the features you mentioned here. I am certainly going to try them out. I do have a small issue, which I hope you can help me with. If I am creating, say, an Instagram reel and I want to use a "vintage" template, I type "vintage" in the search box and I get a lot of options. Now, how do I open a template that I like in a "new window"? I tried every possible way, but I still haven't found a solution. If you know a workaround, please let me know. Thank you.
I have been using Canva for a year. Simple and easy. I will use Adobe Express from now on to try. I use Canva makeup. Great add-on. Does express have makeup? Can you make a photo bigger with AI? Example. photo of the outside of the house and I want a larger photo with landscape for AI. There will be several more questions for you if you don't mind
Great explainer, helped me confirm how this is a superior tool, I only started using Adobe Express a few days ago, been a lifetime Adobe user. Quick question: are there keyframes, to have different movements features starting and finishing at different points in the timeline?
Not a beginner question at all! Both can work. I designed one recently in Adobe Express by preselecting the project type, "Book Cover" and it creates a canvas at 1,410 x 2,250 pixels. That should work great!
nice video. i had Canva pro subscription for about a year, but i had to cancel it as i found Adobe Express more handful for my You tube content creation. Whenever i wrote a word in Persian language Canva showed me the word in the form of separate letters. moreover, doing a word by word action is more easier in Adobe express than Canva.
Thank you so much for this! Do you know if there is a way to put a pattern inside a brand logo? For example, the nike check logo you used in the video, is it possible to put a checkered pattern inside the symbol? So instead of a black nike check it would be a checkered pattern as the color?

I am a very frustrated Canva Pro user..my back n forth email with them is exhausting. Constantly dicovering new things I CAN"T DO as a pro user who creates online courses for commerical purposes. I have been looking for something better. Can you pls tell me if I purchase AdobeExpress would I be able to use all "elements" for commerical purposes? Thxs Phil!
Yes! If you're on a premium plan, you can use stock and templates for commercial purposes - however, if you use any assets, double check each individual license. Using them for products, for example, is generally not allowed with the standard free license.

Thanks for your reply. Keep up the good work! 👊🏽🦸🏻♂️
So far I haven't worked out how to get the power of type styles in Canva which I use every day for long reports and brochures. Flowing text across text boxes is literally impossible, so I've learned to use Canva and InDesign together. Also after 30 years using Indesign I've got some power shortcuts memorised that are huge timesavers. On top of this, Canva has lost so much work with glitches and version control is almost non-existent IMO.
Thanks for the transparency but it still became irritating how Adobe pro heavy the video is. Canva IS for the masses (and more affordable...) not necessarily for pro graphic designers and in that way it is an amazing tool, improving constantly! It is super intuitive and user-friendly and I can't say the same for AE... Obviously for those who want some more creative freedom Adobe Express is a better option.
Yea, but more people use canva, because it’s affordable and easy entry to learn. If you’re in the education business no one wants to learn Adobe unless you are a professional. They have always been that way
"However, in Adobe Express it is only possible to copy and paste elements from the same project." has this already been fixed? I copied images from outside Express to a project and from this to another one of the same express and it worked. I can't open two different projects in express. I have to close one to open another. Love this Phil - such a helpful comparison
Thanks this has been really helpful :) i'm not a creative cloud member but i do have a subscription for LR and PS does this mean i have the same access as a CC member ?
I don't believe so, Theressa - if your subscriptions are individual for those platforms, you'd need one for Express if you want premium. Otherwise, you can still use the free platform!
I'm concerned that Adobe accepts image submissions to their stock collection that were created by AI. If Firefly is trained on other unethical AI-generated content, I find that highly problematic.
I'm in the Philippines and CANVA is so slow most of the time, a 2-minute job can take 2 hours. I'm not sure if I'm on Philippine servers (My GEO) and I don't have a VPN to connect through the USA. I've used different computers and I still have the same problem. I now need to look at dropping CANVA and going to AdobeEx.
Adobe Express is a joke!, considering all the noise and decades Adobe has spent in developing background removal it still does a mess of it in express, the hair comes with hallows, borders are not removed, Canva does far better!, Adobe express is time waster

What is the bulk create feature? I don't really know Canva OR Adobe Express very well so just interested to know what it is

I didn't know about the add-on section! The icons section is so convenient! I also love the QR code generator 🙌
Yes! Agreed. I feel like I keep discovering amazing features in the "Add-ons" - so much fun! I know that Canva has more add-ons, but their directory is really hard to navigate.
Nah, Adobe sponsorship money made you switch.
10:20 To be fair: Canva also has layer positioning. You just have to click position on top menu then you will see the layer's positioning.

The part about Adobe being a leader in "ethical AI" is strongly contested by some according to recent reports.

I use Express for all my flyer but how do you blur pictures edges like in photo shop
OK - Is it possible to insert URL links into videos ?
thank you for the comprehensive overview!
Are the videos in media are copyright free?
What an amazing video! 👏
Thank you so much!
Can I share my video directly on UA-cam without the need to download it with Adobe Express?
Hi, where is the rulers and guides in AE? Also print bleed settings? Thanks.
you can see separate layers in canva. click position at the top

another reason canva is better is that it has sound effects that you can add and adobe express doesn't
Good morning your video was ver helpful. why I done have photoshop icon in my stuff so I can fix my pictures in photoshop directly

Adobe Express Premium is definitely included with Creative Cloud!

Adobe express bit slower as compare to Canva
After going through the article on your site, the unbalanced leaning is very obvious. This is an Adobe ad.
