I saw Manfred Mann in concert about the time of Solar Fire. But they weren't the featured band; they were the intro for The J. Geils Band. But most of the audience came to see Manfred Mann, not J. Geils. It was the only time I've ever seen the intro band called back by the audience for an encore. By the time J. Geils came to the stage, they seemed visibly upset that Manfred Mann had "upstaged" them. Lots of people left after Manfred Mann was finished.
Wow, they did it AGAIN? Once more I'm expecting one song, oh Mighty Quinn, interesting...how it turns into Nightingales And Bombers! I really would love to see a whole concert from the 1973-75 edition. Manfred at his prog-rock peak.
I saw this on Swedish TV when I was 12. Loved it! MMEB's best period! It was a Finnish music program with different artists. It was the acoustic blues guitarist Stefan Grossman who was the presenter !?
I hate the fact that it's incomplete... but other than that, it's fantastic! You can really hear how "As Above So Below" evolved in the middle of the song before being distilled into the "Watch" version.
YLE (national tv and radio broadcaster in Finland) studios in Pasila, Helsinki probably. OR Tavastia Club, Helsinki, but I'm not sure, if that club was already established in 1974.
Hello John.Sorry, but in my oppinion,it was Mick Rogers, who was the Best at all time in the MMEB Line-up because he was the main Singer from Beginning and give his touch with his marvellous clear voice to there typical Sound and also when you listen to Solar Fire,Messin or Nightingales...you must accept,it was her best Period of music. After ''Watch'' ( who was perfect ) with Thomson, they decline very fast to a semi commercial Band without soul ,because Thomson was a bad Guitar Player without ideas and just a ''good Vocalist '' All Fans from the early decade have been terrified of that different kind of music....Love the 70's and early 80's and forgot the Rest and this is applicable for so much other Bands after her 70,80's career . Best regards !
MM, a very uneven band. Couldn't decide what kind of music they wanted to play: jazz, blues, rock, pop, funk, electronic/experimental. Early hits were interesting but they got weird fast with a lot of personnel changes. Pop stuff sucked. I remember a couple of albums in about 66--68 that were cool, if obscure.
@@RAPTRx-xm7zb Maybe crossover prog rock, but they were never a heavy and hard rock band--they did manage a fairly big sound on some their recordings, a bit Phil Spector-ish. I don't recall anything of an Arena Rock nature. I basically lost interest in them in about the mid 70s, so what do I know?
Exactly how I remember them in '74. '73 and '75 too! Always got tickets when they were coming-- never disappointed!
Manfred Mann Chapter III is in my top 5 albums of all time!
В детстве манфред ман был для меня мрачной непонятной группой сейчас мне 67 лет и я наслаждаюсь их музыкой!
А мне она в 70хочень заходила.
Была в почете у музыкантов.
Называли просто Манфред
Mick Rogers so good
Mick Rogers is a very underappreciated guitarist, IMO
Very -
Классная группа

Это лучший состав этой группы .
Необыкновенно, настоящие творцы...
that's how composition "As Above So Below" was born, from instrumental jam in the end of this song
Amazing!!!

Part of the British Invasion of the mid- Sixties , these guys actually evolved as times changed . Not a trick every band could pull off .
Dalla nostra generazione 👑
В СССР его любили

Фанат Бузовой наверно.
На самом деле он такой не один,их миллионы. И самое страшное,что они считают,что Моргенштерн и Даня это вершина всего... Очень жаль...

Yes! I was at their main concert, photographing Slade and others. This session is from the YLE tv/radio studio.
And bass Colin Pattenden
As awesome as this is am still partial to Blinded By The Light.
They improved significantly after singer-songwriter, Chris Thompson joined as lead vocalist.
John Wicks I like Mick but Chris is absolutely Mantastic
He really is!
Chris is good in his own rite - But he no Mick Rogers!!!!
I call BULLSHIT on that - Their biggest hits were F**Kin covers!

I’d probably say their 70’s work is Crossover Prog Rock with heavy Hard Rock and Arena Rock influences.
