      @@owey. Well UK blade law specifically forbids all katanas. Unless “it was made before 1954, or was made at any time using traditional methods”. So if it was made using a modern production line, it's illegal in the UK. So I THINK S.O.N. should be fine.. they're made by hand traditionally right?

    I just got my first sword from you guys yesterday and it’s great. I’m really impressed with the quality of the sword and it’s definitely better than some other swords I’ve gotten around the same price. The customer support was also very good. You guys were very helpful and I will definitely be buying another katana from you guys in the future.

    thats a nice katana and it looks like it was well put together and everything looks solid ! I like the leather ito wrap but I couldnt have leather ito wrap on my katana because my hands are so rough and they tough as leather , and it would wreck the leather and make it look worn out pretty quick . although I could go for a suede ito wrap like they use at hanwei , but I would have to put a couple coats of lacquer on it to make it more durable . but great sword and I like the audible feedback that was coming from it when you was cutting the bottles

    Just one more question sorry, Does the Katana come with a Certificate of authenticity stating its traditionally forged etc because we have very strict custom laws here in the UK for curved swords.

      It includes a certificate of authenticity, but it doesn't state by default that it's traditionally forged. This can be specifically requested. We haven't found any problems with shipping our swords to the UK though

    Does the unokubi zukuri style blade you offer decrease the weight or change point of balance much?

      It decreases the blade weight very slightly, therefore bringing the point of balance closer to the handle

    The blades great your technique needs work try sweeping its likes using a sword but good for learning how stay balanced then try scratching a tree with a stick practice to scratch the tree swiftly without the stick breaking or you being pushed back...

    1060 high carbon steel is good enough for cutting?

      1060 steel is good for light to medium cutting (tatami mats and thin bamboo) and you'd want 1095 steel for heavy cutting (thick bamboo and bone)

      they have many different options to choose from. it comes with the price. the only things that really add more money is steel types engraving and other extras.

    thanks for the presentation, im awaiting my first sword from them now. same steel blade but not folded, just clay forged 1095....question did you choose sharpened with niku..or Razer sharp(3rd option) cause if its not razer sharp im impressed as it cuts through paper like butter, they told me razor sharp is not recommended cause it could make the edge a little to brittle...thanks for the reply...really looking forward to my sword

      This is sharp with niku, which will have a bit of trouble with lighter things like paper and water bottles but is best for cutting hard objects such as thick bamboo and bone, where razor sharp would be too fragile. We only suggest razor sharp if you'll solely be cutting light objects

      Yes, they are made in china, but not "made in china." Its not a large manufacturing company. Their custom swords are hand forged in a small village.

    Is there a big difference between niku and razor edge?

      There's a noticeable difference, but it can't be seen when looking at the blade. Sharp with niku can cut printer paper if you use some friction, and razor sharp can cut paper easily

      @@TheFearlessWill Razor sharp level is not quite as sharp as a knife, or it would be too fragile for cutting. It still has some added durability, but yes that's the idea

    Rope ? I don’t see a pattern but I’m sure it’s in there. I’m guessing your not a practitioner considering you called the sageo rope. I personally need a blade around 30 tp 32 inch long and a tsuka around 13 to 15 inch long because I’m a tall big guy “ not fat at all “ anyway there is a museum close to my house and there are around 12 authentic 14th century up to 19th century katanas on display there and it’s surprising how small they are but the Samurai just were not big men around 5’2 to 5’5 on average and they considered Musashi a very big man at 6 feet tall .

    I can do the same with a kitchen knife! My KATANA can cut the bottle in half without to move the lower part. The lower part MUST to stay still! :)

      Meh, I got 70 dollar t10 tool steel katana that can do that. Also there's more then one style then just yours. Nobody cares what you can do, when all you are is letters.

      @@Richard.H This has more to do with his technique rather than the blade itself. He is cleaving and powering through his cuts instead of using the full length of the blade to slice through.

      Yes since this blade is not clay tempered, it can only have an etched hamon. We offer clay tempered blades with a variety of genuine temper lines too

      @@emperorpalpatine5559 Cutting water bottles? Yes. 1060 can cut plastic when sharp and survive. That's the cheapest steel in their custom katanas so I assume it's the cheapest they use

    Looks not that sharp from what one can tell from the cuts. The price is way too low for what it should (!) be. Never ever is this a true folded steel with various sorts of steel. Hamon looks fake aswell. Polish the blade after a while - completely through and you'll see if the Hamon line goes throught the whole blade / edge. At least the results of this "masterpiece" do not hold up to my 1095 YNH Nami Katana for 700 dollars.

      Everyone can be satisfied with whatever he wants. Though make newbies the illusion you can buy real folded steel (Tamahagane, Kobuse- Kitae etc.) for some hundret bucks is just not very cool. To put if friendly.
