Unless the elites around Putin do not deal with the dictator this will change nothing ... Not really. One of their main problems apparently is micromanagement and high ranks being near the front line because otherwise they would be unable to coordinate. At least that's what brass casualties suggest.
Two issues I see here: 1) Russia doesn’t really care about it’s citizens so the plight of the border population doesn’t matter to them 2) Russian leadership has always traded space (ground taken) for time. I can very much see Russia letting Ukraine play in western Kursk because they don’t think Ukraine can penetrate far enough to cause a real problem. We’ll see what happens.
It might however force Russians to be more conscious about the war, either to condemn it or blame Putin for the incompetence of his dictatorial regime. And hopefully rumors of how much more humanely Ukranians treat civilians and POWs will spread. You can block social media, but it's not as easy to block word of mouth from thousands of civilians.
@@pomkomakyx Prigozhin could have driven to Moscow with his group of merry men because they weren’t really being challenged by the Russian people. Seems like the Ukrainians attacked when the Russian offensive was nearing culmination - I wonder if that timing is making it especially difficult for Russia to transfer frontlines troops to adequately address the Kursk offensive? This response is baffling to me otherwise. Ukraine seems to be limited more by their own numbers than by Russian counterattacks.
Yeah Anders Nielsen pondered what are options for Ukraine when russian offensive culminates (between doing a counter-offensive again or saving resources in case russian coup in USA they will do in November works), and now he's saying that Ukrainian forces prevented russia from stopping to rearm and forced it to keep attacking as defense is favorable for Ukraine, attrition-wise.

Setting up your headquarters and being immediately overrun means there is no frontline or organized resistance established between where Ukrainian forces are and where they’d like to go If it can be organized with securing supply lines, not having units cutoff or encirclement being of high risk… there is absolutely no reason not to continually push upon objective to next objective point until the capture of Moscow is achieved and hopefully that will be a sufficient signaling point that this war is finally over. I think it’s been a relatively long point in historical terms that we’ve gone without the capture of a strategic point on a map bringing about the end of a military conflict. Not exactly saying that things won’t end a different way or even reach that point before putin is removed from power or meets with an unfortunate end .
The Russian defense plan for the next few weeks looks "good". 1. the territory seized or which can be taken by the UA doesn't have much economic value. 2. unless and until the UA moves its 155 artillery to the abandoned Russian 1st and 2nd trench lines, the new Russian defensive position is out of range. 3. The UA does not have the air power to disrupt the preparation of a new Russian defensive line and a logistics road to the new line. 4. The UA logistics line from 9 miles inside the Ukraine to any point beyond the taken two Russian defensive lines will be vulnerable to SU34 air power delivering gliding bombs. (Which is why the UA hit 4 Russian airfields last night at the same time for the first time in the war). The vulnerability of the Russian plan is as follows: 1. The supplies to repel the UA advance already exist in Belgorod. The UA deliberately delayed an incursion to Belgorod until it was able to see a re-distribution of Russian troops occurring. Taking out railroad track at one location delays transport maybe two days. Taking out a railroad bridge can delay transport for a week or more. 2. Taking out transport to and through Belgorod as well as supplies would terminate the construction of a new Russian defensive line
Ukraine was warned of the ruSSian invasion back in Feb. 2022 and they were like "Nah, Pootin can't be that stupid", but he is. Now Pootin was warned but he was like "Nah, they can't be that smart", but the Ukrainians are. 😁
Nah RUSI has actually done a pretty good report on it if you check their website. Dated from 15th Feb 2022. Ukraine knew there was a very good chance it was coming, but if they reacted too hard then it could cause negative consequences which would also likely have had significant destabilising results.

I suspect that regardless of the Russian announcements the military situation in Kursk is in chaos. If the Ukrainians can find defensible terrain it would force the Russians to throw redeployed units into another meatgrinder. Kursk has important historical significance as it's the location where the Soviets crushed a Nazi offensive in 1943. If Putin can't hold Kursk that is a significant blow to his credibility.

Nobody talks about Korenevo which could be a potential big objective for Ukraine : it is 40 km (25 obsolete American miles) North-west of Sudja. It is already an axis of expansion of the military operation in Kursk. It is a town easy to defend which have a train line going directly into a train hub in the Sumy Region of Ukraine and from there to the whole of Ukraine. If taken, it could be a major operational advantage in terms of logistics if the Ukranians want to defend the terrain controled.
The point of all this is that even if Russia knew about Ukraine's build up and knew the entire Ukrainian plan to invade Kursk, what was it they could have possibly done about it? Ukraine was brilliant with this move since it created a dilemma for Putin that has no positive solution. Does he pull troops away from the battles in Ukraine and face having those collapse or does he let Ukraine run wild in Kursk?

Hm, Aside from the economical importance of Kursk Oblast, there is the historical legacy that some Rossians hold as Sacred, Holy in the fight against Germany in 1944 and the location of arguably the biggest and baddest tank battle in WW2, The Great Patriotic War. They see this as the glorious turning point in their fight against the Fascist hordes. Being defeated there by the Ukrainians must sting a tiny little bit more to the average Rossian than losing some Moscow Oligarch's pocket change.

It's why Russian field grade officers keep going to the front, to try and get an accurate picture, and then then being eliminated.
The relocation of RU brigades which were formerly stationed on the southern front leads me to believe that weakening that front, which has been less active since last year's counter-offensive, will create an opportunity for the UAF to make a significant push on the southern front in the near future.
Highly doubtful. Those defensive lines and minefields will create a continued nightmare for any push there. Unless they have absolute air superiority.

Setting up your headquarters and being immediately overrun means there is no frontline or organized resistance established between where Ukrainian forces are and where they’d like to go
If it can be organized with securing supply lines, not having units cutoff or encirclement being of high risk… there is absolutely no reason not to continually push upon objective to next objective point until the capture of Moscow is achieved and hopefully that will be a sufficient signaling point that this war is finally over.

Oooooohhh SLAVA UKRAINE 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
The vulnerability of the Russian plan is as follows:

I suspect that regardless of the Russian announcements the military situation in Kursk is in chaos. The point of all this is that even if Russia knew about Ukraine's build up and knew the entire Ukrainian plan to invade Kursk, what was it they could have possibly done about it?
