Sofi Montero - Oh yes, me as well. But I think some people don't really have that "sense" or maybe they just totally ignore it because either they think they are invincible, or they are just "mentally challenged."
I have a hard time noticing and relying on my "gut" feelings.. I grew up with a lot of abuse and experienced multiple instances of violence as an adult. When you're constantly afraid, dealing with PTSD/CPTSD already, what's the difference between old panic and new? It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.. and then lucky people who don't understand your trauma say "stop acting like a victim." That's privilege for you.
Here’s something that happened to me when I was somewhere between 10-13 yrs old. I was at the shopping centre with my dad+older brother and we were at the last shop (which was about 15m away from the sit) we were going to go to. Two male teens (they looked to be 17) wearing hoods and backpacks walked in. They noticed me and one of them whispered to the other and within a few seconds, the one being whispered to moved away, and began walking on the far right side, meanwhile the other one slowed down and came closer to the left side, which is where I was. I saw him glance over at his friend, (who I then looked at) and saw him nodding to his friend before glancing at me. I looked back and the guy on the same side as me was about 3-4m away now. He is looking at me, not blinking, not tilting his head, just facing forwards and looking at me. I’m guessing my brother saw my expression because I was absolutely terrified, and he turned around and was face to face with the 17 yr old. (My brother was about 0.5m diagonally to the left- inside the store- infront of me) and with that, the teen stopped looking at me, turned away and sped up while walking over to the right side with his friend. No idea what his intentions were but glad nothing happened. prolly one of the most terrifying things that happened to me at that age.
Yeah in South Africa people are desperate for money. I had a friend who was tied up during a robbery too. Luckily her and her family were fine. Also most homes have dogs for protection which is why the poor puppers were targeted. My dogs have had lightbulbs thrown at them once (they were fine but we took them to the vet right after just in case). It’s scary but if you take the right precautions and listen to your gut you’ll be fine.
I'm crying at the Canadian army man one, I'm so glad that dude was there, her guardian angel and his were looking out for both of them, by saving her he got help, by saving her she is still alive, holy crap that's so scary 😢
I live in south africa. And places like johburg and capetown are seriously crime riddled. I had a few bad vibed experiences. On that scared me the most was a man chasi me with a metal pipe when i was walking home from a friend. I was walking across a park infront of my complex and he was already past me in the opposite direction. My caught the huge 1m metalpipe he had in his hand and when we made eye contact he just turned around and started chasing me. I made it to my front door intime and banged and yelled my mom to open up. Our complex that we lived in didnt have security or fencing so anyone could walk by. The ass chasing laughed and walked away as if it was the biggest joke. I was terrified after that but wouldnt let that stop me from living. I love walking and hiking and i refuse to let that experience ruin it for me.
Personal story, TW kidnap One night I was waiting for my mom at a VERY public setting. I was standing on the corner of the block of an after school hangout place I'm my home town waiting for my mom to pick me up. Keep on mind it's around 5 and it's really dark out. I'm casually waiting and a black car pulls up but doesn't slow down so my initial reaction is "Oh, they're going home" I also, at this time, get the GUT FEELING TO RUN. But before I did, a 6 foot (ish) tall man wearing ALL black comes out with his hands in his pockets walking towards me. I still don't believe I didn't get taken but I turned a 180 and went to grab a friend who was still there around the back of the building to help me. She was with a few other kids and I was bawling me eyes out screaming at her because I was terrified. I was a 10 year old 5th grader just waiting for my mom and some dude tries to kidnap me. A few minutes pass and my mom shows up and I told her everything and she says to me, "I will no longer pick you up at 5. You stay inside and wait for me until 4:30, do you understand?" Glad I survived and I haven't gone back since.
I got so emotional hearing most of these, I can't stand the fact that some people can be so horrible. The one with the group of 3 helping freaked me the heck out. If someone is following you and you manage to find a group of people who get you out of the situation STAY with them no matter what until you are able to call the police. I don't care if they are walking to the other side of town, in the completely opposite direction from your house. Continue walking with them. The fact that she kept trying to go home is not a good thing to do in that situation. She was just leading him closer and closer to where she lived. So even if he didn't do anything that specific night, he could come back and do whatever he wanted because he would have known where she lived. Thank goodness for that group noticing and rushing back. Like I said keep walking with that group and call the police, explain everything that happened, you can not only file a report but you'll have a more accurate description that you can provide to them. And you'll have witnesses that can also add to the report you file. They can even escort you personally back to your place to make sure you get home safely later on when the creep has hopefully left the area. And if there is ever a moment especially when you are in the safety of a group you can try to take a photo of the creep to help with the investigation. With that one, you have to be careful though, because if he's unstable enough to stalk you like that, who knows how he'd react to you taking his photo for evidence. That one is a do-with-discretion step.
People, if you have a gut feeling, LISTEN TO IT!!! 9/10 it's right, please be safe. Third story: mental illness is a serious thing, if you're struggling, please seek help, you may think that people don't care but there's someone who cares and will help you.
Many doors have a peek hole. It's foolish to not use it before you unlock the door. I always use mine even though I'm a mature male adult who can take care of myself pretty well. I just think of all the bother if I harm a potential intruder or get harmed . . . police interrogations, forms to fill out, insurance & repairs, medical, etc. Never be too lazy to double check locks and safety procedures.
How are you doing my dear sweet friend? How are you feeling? In the very first story, the house cleaner stereotyped him very hard. In the second story, I feel bad for him because he's completely lost without his wife. In the third story, that homeless guy is a straight up hero for saving that little girl's life. Those two men they probably were the grapists. In the fourth story, that man was a bad guy who definitely wanted to hurt her for some reason. I love you so much!! Stay safe!!
The cleaner stereotyped him, really? She's in a house by herself cleaning, some huge guy comes into the house and she's terrified. If she wasn't told that someone was coming in, and the photographer wasn't told the cleaner was there, both were scared. The realtor should have told both of them to expect someone to be there.

In their minds, that gets rid of the first ring of defence around a target home. I won't call people like this animals, because that's insulting to animals.
Can you imagine in a perfect world where every human being on the planet is allowed to own and practice with a loaded firearm, and to also carry that same firearm on them everywhere they go, plus also have firearms in the house so they can defend themselves and keep these evil evil people out of their lives out of their homes this is so yesterday's news these evil people know there's not going to be any repercussions they do what they want.
Wouldn't a perfect world be one where firearms aren't needed? Like what twisted sense of perfection do you believe in that you think a sleeping person can make use of a firearm?
You've been playing too many first person shooter "sociopath training" games. A perfect world, (which may never happen of course) is that neither you nor I nor anyone NEEDS to have a closet full of weapons just to go out to buy bread.
As a woman, I make sure to ALWAYS trust my gut feeling
So true! We have to!!!!

Yeah, but imagine if bad people also owned guns. There would be mass shootings. Think of these things before being a "pro-gun" activist
