That's not exactly true - it rounds upward, so it causes single rupees to be worth 2 rupees. The break-even point also depends on what price you get it for, since prices have some random variation. And of course, it's pure profit if you get it for free from a chest or Zora's Pond or something. Don't forget about the hundreds of free rupees you get from the quests in the Rebel Village, as long as you get it before then.
Kind of typical for king zora to scam you like that by giving you the level 3 inventory upgrade that you already had (it didn't stack so it was wasted) and the bow you already had (it doesn't upgrade so it was wasted) and thus essentially wasting the 200-something rupees you spent on those earlier. Also, the amulet of wealth for 120 would pay for itself after you have picked up 600 rupees while holding it, and only then would it start providing actual profit.
The game manual tells you what you what you get for the different gem combinations at Zora's Pond, it's worth tabbing out to take a look and make an informed choice. The amulet is great if you get it before the Rebel Village, since there are hundreds of rupees you get from the quests there. Also it's a little more nuanced than needing to pick up 600 rupees, since the gains are always rounded up - most importantly, this causes single green rupees to be worth 2 rupees apiece.
I played this myself after seeing vinny play it, it's really great! My only critique is the gimmick of the final boss, that was a bit infuriating to run into blind and lose a two hour run to.
Yeeeeah, the Zora wasn't the best as both the bow and inventory were wasted as they were already maxed out. Kinda wish when that happens it's converted into rupees or something, oh well small nit-pick in an otherwise fantastic game! Been watching a few different people play it while grinding Korok seeds whiles doing a 100% BOTW in prep for my first play through of Tears.
The final boss is kind of bullshit. I save scummed to allow myself to practice without having to play full 2-3 hour games in between each attempt; I did eventually succeed on my fourth try. So not insurmountable, just something to be aware of.
If you didn't upload anything but daily episodes of this for the next month, I wouldn't be toooo mad.
I wouldn’t watch.
Wow, I didn't even know the gem bag *could* get too full to take another item.
The Rebel Villiage - it's there to rebel against the standards of good taste in architecture.
Oh HECK yes. I’m gonna need you guys to play a lot more of this one 😮
James gameplay!
Love when that happen.
That fetch quest was so amazing!
You have to collect 600 extra rupees to make the amulet of wealth break even. It is almost never worth it unless it's right at the start of the run.
He picked up more than half of that on floor 7, so it seems like it would be worth it if there was at least half of the run left.

It would have saved a bunch of money if they had found Zora before going on a buying spree...

Also, according to the internets, Poindexter was originally a cartoon character from Felix the Cat.
I really really liked watching this. It gives me nostalgia
I wanna see the run finished, even more than I wanna see my weekly dose of NOVA DRIIIFFFTT
This is Super Awesomazing!
Looks fun to play, here's hoping it doesn't get under the eye of Ninten-lawyers though...
You will show us the end of the run, right? You *have* to show us the rest of the run!
😂 Let's go! I'm looking forward to part 2
Welp, guess I am going to have to go down this rabbit hole eventually :P
I'd love to see the end of this run!
The Inventory bag from the Zora just didnt do anything either - you had 18 slots going into that cave and the bag you got says it has 18 slots.
Somehow, despite being subbed to this channel and the vod I missed this.
