- We’ve invited collectors, nostalgia seekers, bargain hunters and resellers from all over to our estate sale at my storehouse in Earlington, Kentucky…and now, we have to put it all together! Items came from 4 or 5 different estates, with a variety of flavors and a host of collector categories that make us think how we put together items from so many places.
Organized themes? Yes. Items that vary at eye level to keep the shopper engaged? Absolutely! We’re trying to make everything visible, full and attractive, we have a lot more stuff than the average Kentucky Highway 41 Sale house, so we’re pulling out all the stops (even mailing snail mail personal invites to area antique dealers!).
We show everything we’ve found, from 1980s figures and Royal Albert china to paper ephemera, clocks, uranium glass, 1940s books…there’s a lot of potential for someone here! With three guest sellers coming from two states, we want to put our best foot forward, so air conditioning is expanding (thanks, Xeno!), the selection growing and prices …well, they’re going to be cheap. Cheap! We want people to have a real yard sale/thrift priced experience, this is a true estate liquidation where all must go.

A Banquet of Bargains! So many neat things! That ladybug doorstop grabbed me, along with so much else...the colorful kitchen display with the calorie graphic tablecloth, the 70s stainless flatware, the copper frame, so many nice things. Hope the sale went great!

Wow, thank you for that! I want people to see the whole world of collecting that I find, not just the things that are "trending". I'm glad you're enjoying it! Hard to believe my Mexico City visit was back in February. I would say a good estate sale onsite excites me the best, you know you can buy and for how much right now, and it's all what you spot that you value more than someone else.

Good evening, George. Oh, I like those salt dips. I have an _Old Country Roses_ tea set, made in England. That Nippon ewer is really pretty. That old embroidery is a beauty! I like that midwestern oil jar. I'd love to have those cat bookends. I'd use them as doorstops. You have several wood boxes there that caught my eye. The egg that opens, with the cross in it, is something I'd definitely be checking out. I like that. I'd like to have the 46-star flag. It's a good thing I'm not able to get there! I'd be loaded up with more than I have space to put it 😬😂 Good luck at the sale!
Hello! I knew you'd like the salt dips, I've always been partial to those too and a lot of collectors are still interested in them. Always approve of bookends as doorstops! I like the wood boxes and about half sold this time, that was nice to see. All went well and it was fun!

Good luck on the sale. I'm not sure if you started today or tomorrow but I hope you clear out a lot. It would be good to feel a little less overwhelmed. Sam likes to remind me that he has to clear it out if I go first. (My craft crap) 😂

@@TheAntiqueNomad Good to hear that! One Bonus in having your stuff inside, is with the exception of your dollar stuff. You don't have to drag it back inside after. And you can sort what's left to maybe take some to your booths and the rest on the road.
I would have loved to purchase those nesting tables, the table that you said would look good in the kitchen and a few of the pictures.
You have good taste, apparently, a bunch of those things sold!

I agree as well. I see several things I'd be trying to snap up before someone else grabs it. Love the small farmhouse table too. Someone could also have a glass top put on it if they were concerned of lead paint.

How many people do u let in at one time? I would think with that much inventory peo would need to move & explore carefully. S lots of fragile items too !
I try to organize it so they can scan it without having to pick up a lot unless they really want it. Surprisingly that little house can hold about 15-20 people at a time
there were two references to Occupied Japan which ended in 1946 when the last occupying US forces left.
Actually, the occupation lasted from 1945-1952, my Uncle Roy served there as part of it

Hey George good job hope you sell a lot I have a hoard like you 35 years collecting it’s a big job I use home as storage and keep a lot of things to enjoy lol. NEED TO SELL I NEED PEOPLE TO HELP SET UP A 3 DAY PICKER/ESTATE/YARD/SALE NEED TO GIVE UP MY HOARD LOL. BIG TROUBLE
I hear you! I have worked with a lot of people in that position, but it's hard if you have to also still live there unless you have a big staging area you can separate on site. Depends also on where you are as to what sells and for how much.

A quilt appraiser and conservator in Paducah told me to use Orvis (spelling?) soap on antique textiles. It's used on horses, you can get it at farm shops. It comes in a big white container with red lettering.

Please check the Community Tab, I do try to post events there in advance but I see what you mean about a longer-term calendar. I do the sale annually during the 4th weekend in June (Highway 41 Sale time).

That 1930's blue mirror reminded me of a childhood friend's living room. They had a blue glass mirrored coffee table and two end tables. I was always mesmerized by them. I never knew they were from the 1930's. I've never seen them again. Every time I would see a jar of Noxzema in a store I thought of those beautiful tables. Great video! So much info! Thank you George! Oh and, what would you sell that blue mirror for plus shipping? I live in Pennsylvania.
I love blue mirrored furniture, had a lot in my Art Deco collecting period. I'm not sure if the blue mirror sold but I'll look again

On Saturday I was at a Salvation Army garage rummage sale at one of their churches. They must have newbies pricing things !
I got 40 pieces of Blue Mountain pottery for between 1.49 and 3.49 each .
Next up Fenton . 55 pieces !! Half of them glow 😊 . Price range on them was 1.99 to 6.49 . Huh ?? I’m still wandering around in a shock state of mind . Apparently, one of their members who was a reseller / collector passed away and left their entire estate , plus house to them .
