**DONT TRY THIS AT HOME** it will probably burn/damage your camera
not even close to hot enough, that said still dont do it
Using a glue gun to clean your camera won't harm it because you're not putting glue on the camera. Instead, you're using the gun to suck away dust and dirt. Just be careful not to get it too hot or too close to the camera.
The heat from hot glue won't harm anything, but there's a chance you can pull the lens off when pulling up the hot glue.
Just use alcohol like a normal person
Literally just use alcohol

Damn it. Guess i’ll do it the old fashioned way
Simply use grey Rodico. It’s an watchmaking rubber/clay that is for cleaning watch parts without leaving smudges.
I would first try compressed air then Isopropyl alcohol. IPA is pretty nice for electronics since it dries off with no residue, it's non-conductive and it's a polar solvent (meaning it dissolves a lot of organic stuff).
@@TUDORMARCU16 it will leave residue on glass and it is chemically harsh on coatings. Eyeglass cleaning solutions are more mild.
@@TUDORMARCU16 Compressed air is an easy way to break a camera. Too many moving parts. Alcohol leaves residue and stains the camera. You're best bet is using something sticky
@@PhoneRepairGuru interesting. I was thinking the moving parts are not exposed.
@@PhoneRepairGuruNot if you use good alcohol lol
As someone who serviced microscopes for a living, the best way to do this is with a 30/70 ethanol water mix (ideally purified water - battery water) and a cotton swab. this is because the ethanol will evaporate without residue!
i tried it outside the home, it didn't work.
Or just use a q tip? I would fear that the heat of the gluegun would destroy the sensor or the chip
Most hot glue guns don’t heat up enough to burn/ break anything.
They are exposed to high temps during the soldering process at the factory.

The safest way to do this is using phone repair adhesives (like the B-7000 or so). Apply it on one end of the cotton swab, let it dry like at 80%, it cleans it perfectly. 0 risk 10/10 results. As long as the dirt didn't stick on the lens really hard.
can second this
Me reading at 1am trying to understand with my limited English knowledge: how do I do it again
@@AhmedAlmukhlish1923Basically, get some glue and put it on a q-tip (cotton swab). Let it dry a little bit. Then lightly press the q-tip onto the camera lens. Leave it there for a second. Then peel the q-tip end off of the lens by rolling the q-tip and lifting up. Hopefully, this removes all the dirt and gunk. He recommended a special glue that was made for phones (you can probably find it on phone repair websites and eBay).
As a phone technician I absolutely agree with this, I personally use the B7000 for many a few things besides fixing screens and back plates in place, it's a cold glue that can remain sufficiently sticky after dried that it won't hurt the focus mechanism and still be able to pick up small particles
Yea, definitely feel like any adhesive that isn’t “hot” glue would be better.
You use that brush on a mini camera… don’t ever forget that.
Micro fiber clothe exists
It's still not the best

If you have a compressed air gun at home or at work it should do the job just fine, even for a dirty charging port.
Not nessessary, first thing I do with devices is putting tape over the cameras.
There's no need to be that paranoid, your face is already on your mom's Facebook and your private information is in 15 different countries unless you use tor for everything.

Don't try this ever, the lenses of the cameras are plastic, they have way less resistance to heat than glass so it might end up with damaged lens. Hot glue is pretty hot.
Flat out untrue, if you did get a phone with a plastic lens you were scammed or buying counterfeit
Nope the internal lens elements are all plastic. Even Apple says it’s a 7P lens, the P stands for plastic. Do you know why? For tiny lens, it’s actually easier to make the advanced curvatures needed with plastic techniques, glass is very difficult to work with and mould when it’s that small. They are called aspherical plastic lens, they actually cost more than glass and deliver better quality. The covering is glass, but the lens is plastic.
@@gladoscc untrue, as stated in the previous comment it is made out of treated material that is made to take that sort of heat from being pointed at the sun, or similar overheating events with the battery and electronics. The lens can actually survive the battery going up because of the insulation provided on iphones
@@itsslothh3908The only glass part in phone camera is the cover lens. Why don't you just take apart your own phone camera if you don't believe that the lenses are plastic? You talk so much yet so wrong.
@@bagasfabianmaulana uhh thats wrong but okay? maybe if youre using some cheap tracfone throwaway trash it has plastic but regulation demands glass to prevent melting during battery/hardware overheating. BTW i take apart phones for a living haha I do it constantly and I can assure you the only plastic present is in wiring and insulators
The lenses on phone cameras are made from plastic who is sensitive to the high temperatures of the glue
they're not made of plastic tho it can damage the ois if present

Isopropyl alcohol
No, it will ruin the filters over the optic, use water with a really soft cloth, like micro-fiber
And use a duster after everything is dry
They literally have a product for this, it’s a red polymer used for cleaning optical lenses in lasers and such. It goes on as a liquid, and dries protecting it for transport if desired, and when taken off removes all contaminants. It is very expensive though so likely not worth it unless you can find a business which has it that’ll do it for you so you don’t have to buy a whole bottle.

How is it that we have sealed phones that are supposedly WATERTIGHT but they aren't dust tight?
Are you under the impression the dust is INSIDE the lense?
The dust was between the camera and the lens on the outside of the phone,
the part of the camera that he put glue on is covered by glass built into the back of the phone
The dust was definitely inside the phone. @billfromnxtdoor5575
When phones get older, their seal is getting worse, which means it could still happen to any phone.

It almost definitely won't.
People really think hot glue guns are that hot? I've had it on my hands....... let it cool then peel off. Doesn't even burn...

tip for those that wants to try this, it only works when the gluestick isn't too hot, so the moment when you plugged in the gluegun, pump it until the gluestick is soft enough to be squized out, because if you try this with a really hot gluegun, the gluestick will get too hot and turns into liquid, and this will bind to your camera, it might even burn your camera as well

So many people say “don’t try this” I feel like I should
Just use those screen cleaning tape which come with temperd glasses set
The exterior lens from the interior side of the phone may be dirty. This may be the cause too.
Electronic cleaner spray: Hold my beer
I would advice against this. Not that it doesn't work, but the lens has a coating, and that can be damaged. Also, there is significant force used to pry the lump of glue off, meaning the lens holder or the lens may pop off or be pulled out of position.
Please use lens cleaner and a Q-tip or clean microfiber cloth to clean lenses. For fatty stains, you can even use alcohol, but try not to. See if normal lens cleaner (for eyeglasses) works first.
If there is a LOT of dust, and you're scared you're gonna scratch the lens, try blowing it away with compressed air before gently cleaning it.
And keep that stupid brush away from the lens! That is NOT what it's for!

Imagine giving your phone to a repairsman and he pulls out a camera and a hot glue gun
All the people crying in the comments that this is dangerous and will destroy the phone have 0 idea how electronics work and are made. You need at minimum 275 degrees to even BEGIN melting electronic solder reliably, and the plastic used on the phones are made to take excessive heat from the battery, and the electronics in the event of an overheat. the glue doesn’t get even remotely hot enough to damage the lens. You will hurt real camera lenses doing that though, because of how arc’d the glass is on some you will insta shatter it spreading that much heat
Isn't solder melting temperature closer to 300 Celsius than 275? I might be wrong or I'm using some weird solder. I am using solder that's over 30 years old. Anyway, is ethanol safe for cleaning camera lenses?
@@propsekgamer im quoting Fahrenheit, and depends on what kind of solder it is, if its the kind they use for power lines and high voltage you probably need much higher
The viscosity didn’t allow the glue to fully conform. A vacuum chamber can help get the glue into full contact with the lens.
