Funny because it backfired big time. He’s extremely intelligent and responded to every question cautiously, concise and without fear. Well spoken gentleman who refuses to compromise his integrity as a human, a man, a father, and as a son. He’s doing it HIS WAY. @@MicahBXXIII It was never a problem with his character. Kyrie has always been a gentleman, and that's why he has so many friends around the league and all his old teammates vouch for him. The problem is that he used to jump on a bunch of random baseless conspiracy theory bandwagons because he is gullible. His brain would just go random places. And that upset the public, because star athletes influence our kids and no one wants their kids believing half-baked stuff (like Flat Earth) just because an athlete spewed it.
Kyrie seemed directionless and willing to believe anything, and I think he made clear in this interview that at the time he was just trying to find himself and didn't have a solid sense of who he was. I guess now he's found Islam and a therapist, and it's giving him some structure/stability so he doesn't have to go around picking up random nutty beliefs.

Beyond fasting for Ramadan and mentioning prayer/being muslim; many people call/label themselves this or that--Kyrie's ACTIONS and EXAMPLE directly aligns with Islamic lifestyle prescribed in the Quran to drive harmony, understanding, unity, respecting all, working together, gratitude, sincerity, BALANCE, leading with empathy, standing with the oppressed. All in his early 30s, which is wild. Truly embraced and living out Islamic habits. Many grown folks simply are not. Kyrie reminds me so much of Hakeem Olajuwon in his early 30s.

Kyrie defense this season and in the playoffs has been flat out “Amazing “. As a lifelong Mavericks fan this is the most impressed I’ve ever been with a players on the court transformation as well as off-the court and it’s great to see him turn the media narrative of him being a lock room cancer in Brooklyn.

He dealt with the media, analysts, fan bases, and teammates bashing him. For the first time throughout his career, he's found a home.
He said it in this postgame conference that this is probably the best fanbase that he's been able to play in front of.
They've embraced him he enjoys the coaching staff and his teammates they love playing with him.
And he's reciprocating those feelings. We are seeing one of the best years of Kyrie Irving as a result.

Luka had some good games "#5" some very low percent games also. Kyrie lets Lukie do him first half. Kyrie cooks the second half. If one gets hot they just switch. They need the whole team to play like we saw tonight. Luka and Kyrie started horrible..

@BreakerEsportsI really love your statement. But you see, he's only doing that now cz it's the playoffs and the pressure is different.
My point is, if Luka had been doing this a long time ago, Mavs would be scarier.
But mostimes during regulars, you see Luka force a shot or do something crazy when a man's open, get his 60+points and leave other guys completely wide and open.
Now we in the playoffs, even his guys may think in their head, "is he gonna pass it", that alone puts you off rhythm as opposed to, " he's gonna pass it"!!!
Offensively, Mavs has always been more than this and a great team if they add this upgraded defence

@@uchify Didn't Kyrie miss 1/3 of the regular season and they had to retool their entire team at the trade deadline, cmon now luka was also second in assists

Of course he will, especially right now when his injured knee is giving him so many problems.
A healthy Kyrie is a godsend for Luka & taking so much pressure off of him.

Happy to see the best version of kyrie in a situation where the organisation and his teammates love him . As opposed to being in situations where he has been tolerated
