As a Wirral guy, this is the side I see and photograph regularly so it has been how I've monitored the development other than by watching your videos Nick. Great to see one of your vids concentrating on it 👍
It is interesting how they pace the job. You could have two diggers and more lorries to take away the sand away for example or more flaggers to do the flagging any ideas?
Will they be putting hand rails on the outside of the west stand - could be tricky for people to walk up and down without having some sort of assistance? Neat video again Nick.
Hi Nick, I have a question. It was said that the flat roof under the barrel roof was to be painted black, a small but very spectacular detail. Obviously to people at ground level it means little but to drone pilots it would look amazing. Thanks mate COYB
Nick great update. Do we know how LoR will seal the river bed ? As it stands if you start to fill the river now surely it will just sink into the sand base and flow under the stadium? Maybe one for Dunc the blue or Dave Badcock if you don’t mind gents.
The water channel was a dock full of water just over 3 years ago, so the water channel will already be sealed. LoR have already sealed the new eastern wall of the water channel with concrete (next to the west plaza terrace), and this included a concrete section of the channel bed connecting to the wall
Immediately to the south (left) of the players’ tunnel is the vomitory for the Tunnel Club fans. The access tunnel further to the south (left) on the other side of the home dugout is for wheelchair users
@DuncTheBlue1878 cheers mate, another simple comment from you haha but that's great to hear it would be common-sense to put it in and I'm sure Mr Drone should have known that the benches weren't the only things there to stop people from falling down the steps
I don't think the benches are there to prevent fans falling down the steps. If anything they would add to that risk by people walking between the benches and the steps.
Where does the stadium/site boundary extend to on the south west corner, will it be in line with dock to the south. wondering if there will be a river side prom linking up with the city at some point in the future, once the whole area has further developed.
The south west boundary will pretty much be in line with the boundary fence they’ve installed parallel to Nelson Dock near the south stand. The Liverpool Waters development to the south of Bramley Moore Dock has a proposed riverside pathway, which will end at the Hydraulic Tower
Which side will be the home dugout? You'd think it would be the south side one to be nearer to the home end but that reason doesn't apply to Goodison at the moment. Anyone know the history of the choice of dugouts at Goodison and the reasons why?
What will the media centre be used for. I'm presuming the likes of sky presenters and pundits won't be presenting from in there so what will the offices be used for specifically?
Sewen: the DNOC (Distributors Network Operators Compound) has about 80% of the area dedicated to the Electrical Distributors substations and back up generators, as you can see fairly clearly. Inside the bitumen flat-roofed 20%, there are some offices and facilities for a few staff (Operators?) that are manning the centre but a whole lot of control panels and digital connections. When the outside broadcasters' vans are parked up on the car park just to the south of the Compound they will hook up to the connections inside there, which is why there are 2 widish doors situated to the south side of the block. The TV Cameras, Radio equipment and some controls for those are all located in the stadium.
@sewen70 Your presumption is correct, the Sky/TNT/Amazon presenters will broadcast from the studio in the north west corner of the ground (above the vehicle access tunnel) 👍🏻
Nick, I think your South Stand video has gone AWOL and this content is already a little outdated for the really observant. PoI's: 1) The 4 doors that are at the level of the mezzanine have been changed in the plans from being just burst-out doors to being 'standard' double doors for ingress and egress for Hospitality Lounges attendees. 2) This video is exposed as being 'old' due to the fact that the end trapezoid-shaped black panel on the SW corner of the Mezzanine overhang has been seen installed on other videos. 3) The pump is drawing water from the base of the old dock near the southern end and to a degree Nelson Dock to equalise. If you followed the pipes back along the old Dock Walls/West Quay, you'd see the pipe/well structures inserted still in the sand and to Nelson Dock. 4) I'm sure you didn't mean to say that the lower tier patio area, without the 'Executive/Box seats, is for "Directors and Media". It is for Directors and VIP's Box seating, not for Media. The Media are up on the Upper Tier.
David, your knowledge, and understanding of this project, is really remarkable. I mean, there are people that know a little, there are people that know a lot, but you sir, you know absolutely everything. I take my hat off to you.
@@pleasantville4529 😯😊🤔. I'm nowhere near knowing everything, even if more than most as a result of always finding out as much as I can. But thanks for the appreciation for the informational input.
Does anyone know if the open spaces in the corners of the upper tiers below the barrel clading will be utilised for half time areas to stand drink and smoke?
Craig: yes, people do know that the corners of the concrete rooves around the ground are not for public admission and will only be accessed by maintenance staff.
I think the club have missed a massive opportunity to have an outdoor area for the general public under the glass on the south stand. Imagine a few nice bars and restaurants with outdoor tables and a viewing deck looking right over all the docks with the City Skyline in the distance. Would have been the best view/experience at the stadium 👌🏻 I know it will have the same view from behind the glass underneath, but it wouldn't be as good as sitting above outside on a nice day or evening.
@rosse6705 I made this point to Dan Meis particularly the fact that the underside/viewing concourse roof wasn't built flat to enable easier enhancement in future. It would make a great corporate type viewing / entertainment area.
@@rosse6705 I get the romance of a feature that would be nice to have but it would have more financial and engineering consequences than would seem apparent, which is probably why it hasn't been done. It would have meant completely different engineered designs rather than a small tweak. It would have substantial consequences for the sake of a partly-used facility. The South Stand Viewing Gallery is a single-tiered, cantilevered structure: it basically hangs out and off the south stand steels/walls and is not supported by anything immediately below it. Ignoring the fact that it has a fairly steep gradient on the roof, if one was to add much weight and also ruin the layout of the Viewing Gallery hospitality area in order to create access to a whole extra weighted floor above, it would have meant changing the projection to have significant vertical support, like more steels and walls below, effectively taking the footprint of the stand out across The Everton Way towards Nelson Dock. The question for Dan Meis and his team would always be what would be the risk/reward ratio for its benefit, mainly in the off-season, in the light of the different additional costs, opportunity costs and fundamental design compromises, themes and ambience, if simultaneously it diluted the footfall in the other already-costed hospitality offerings.
@@JayEFC1969 I'm chuckling imagining what was going on in Dan Meis's mind when you confronted him and told him he wasn't doing his job properly. Did he flinch? What was his response? When did you meet Dan and at what point in the project was it?

Another great view and detailed video Nick 👌
The pump @ 07:55 is a silt buster, dirty water from the site cannot be discharged into the river so the silt buster is there to 'clean' it.
Great video as always 👍🏻 From a Pompey supporter 💙
great video Nick lad, the wind noise at the start nearly induced a psychotic break though lol

From what I can see in your excellent video will the dugouts be totally exposed to the weather and the inevitable rain?
Not very often because the roof covers them and they’re protected from the prevailing wind

If you mean the steps on the west plaza terrace, then yes
In the original drafts they showed a massive illuminated Everton sign on the roof facing the Mersey , is this still going to happen?
It was facing Nelson Dock and the city centre, not the Mersey. No, that was in the first draft plans and was removed from the final approved design 👍🏻
