As an F1 fan I think the Andretti name would draw more people than Cadillac. Cadillac makes me think of the huge land yachts they used to make not a sleek aerodynamic F1 car. Sure GM made some nice cars in the 70's and still makes one or two but Cadillac? I know there are those who will say what about IMSA or WEC. I do not associate those with the actual Cadillac company since an independent organization creates the cars.
@@FredricoMayonetti how much of the car is actually built by Cadillac and not an outside organization? When did I disqualify all events? Wasn't Cadillac coming in with Andretti? This is just proof that F1 wasn't going to let Andretti in because of some disagreement in the past. I think they have a great car in IMSA/WEC just not a team I root for. Finally, someone not agreeing with me! And calling me names, at least silly goose is a nice way of saying it. Usually I get flamed by multiple sources.
But Micheal ruined that name in the 90’s when he couldn’t compete at the F1 level. So no I wouldn’t welcome Andretti or GM, GM has a history of trying to buy off officials when things don’t go their way or crying. Look at the mess they made with NASCAR and NHRA pro series.
When I think of a name Cadillac, I get a picture of James May “racing” a burgundy 18 feet car on the track, would be interesting to think also of an f1 team
The Federal Government told Liberty Media that if they do not allow an American manufacturer on the grid then the FIA would lose license to participate in American soil - 3 very large races. Anti-Trade/Anti-Trust sited. As to the FBI’s involvement, I think that played a part in the some key changes on both the Andretti and Liberty sides.
First Race for Williams in F1 was 1977, so history is the reason. Haas is a big company, they started 2016 (after another US F1 Team withdraw from joining), for the reason: 3 teams left F1 (Toyota 2009, Caterham 2014 and Manor 2016)
I don’t get why Cadillac would be a more desirable name…that brand is basically dead, or at least on life support. I can’t think of a single car they’ve made in the last 20 years. They’re supposed to be a luxury car brand, but if someone were looking to buy a luxury car it would be something like this: 1. BMW 2. Mercedes 3. Porsche 4. Lexus Etc. I don’t think Cadillac would even be on this list.
F1 has become a “joke” in recent years The drivers aren’t happy, the principals are pissed. Used to go to lots of the euro races and friends that always have vip tickets have stopped going. The politics has ruined it
Interesting how FOM and/or Liberty claims the Andretti name has no marketing benefit. So are they going to force Haas, Red Bull, Williams and RB to change their names to a automotive brand as main sponsors too? What's wrong with the engine sponsor being the second name? Is this why we hear rumors of Hyundai, BMW, and now Toyota coming back? Haven't we learned from years past that most major car manufacturers are only committed if the economy is real good. When things get tuff they act like spoiled kids in our disposable society. If it's not new and shiny they throw it away instead of fixing it or making it better.
Well, the fact is that Andretti cannot guarantee stability, at least not as far as F1 is concerned. Nobody wants to see a team that closes down again after two years because it can't make enough money from the sport. Mr. Andretti is already known as a gambler. Involvement from GM and Cadillac as an American car manufacturer is a somewhat safer investment AND... it enhances the international character of F1.
If two more cars are added to the grid then there needs to be talks on how their lined up on the grid. I think F1 needs to widen the starting grid on all tracks to accommodate three rows of staggered positions. Making for a better chance of positions changing but also not making the back of the grid with little to no chance of advancing.
Why don’t they have 11-20 teams, and all practice and try to qualify for the 20 traditional spots, if you don’t make the show you don’t get paid. If you don’t become competitive and get in races or you will be forced to fall out of the sport. Won’t cost F1 any more money and there would be a lot more competition at the bottom end.
You weren’t around in the pre-qualifying days when they actually did this, were you? Do these extra teams just set up an awning in the parking lot as their pits? (Back then…yes).
Well this is going to be another laugh.. much like Stroll. He was hopeless as a driver, is trying to muscle his way in again as a term. Even if they do eventually buy their way in, they're not going anywhere!
Andretti name doesn't bring anything to F1?... Are you kidding me? K... You know... only one of the biggest names in motorsports here in the US... F1 wants more US eyes on the sport, well thats exactly how you get it. Too many billionaires with more money than sence. Them going out of their way to keep andretti out has already alienated many US fans. And now once government entities have gotten involved, magically they can enter... 🤔. Funny how that works. F1 just proved to everyone their statement earlier about the reasons why they were rejected in the first place was complete and utter horse sh🤬t. Oh but you gotta drop the andretti name from the team... Nice... Good job F1, good job... 🙄👍. All of this went down like this because some suit has a vendetta against andretti... Get the f🤬ck over yourself lol.
Your thumbnail is quite irritating... wasn't the Andretti in that picture removed as owner of Andretti Global in the wake of a criminal investigation by the Federales?
I would appreciate some one telling me why F1 is so adverse to the Andretti name and Michael Andretti specifically. To me, seeing Cadillac on a F1 car looks ridiculous. I suppose there is precedent in motor sports for Cadillac involvement, but they are a luxury brand more than a high performance one. No provenance so far as I can tell. But then again, I still think Haas is a Russian team. (Joke-kind of)
Well, Mercedes isn't known for making tractors either and is still in F1. And the thing with Haas, sure, they had a Russian oligarch as a sponsor (with his son as a driver), but that's over. Or do we want to dig a little deeper and check which F1 team is NOT owned by a prince from the Middle East? (not only look at the team sponsor but also at the shares in the engine manufacturing companies).
@@waltervonoer9190 I appreciate the response. Do you have an answer to my original question? The rest was in jest and and hyperbole. Oh, I live in North Carolina. I know about Haas. Just they really pissed me off.
how?? ......... every f1 track only has 10 pitboxes that houses 2 drivers --------------> so now every track thats on f1`s calendar has to build another pitbox big enough to house two drivers ??
every track is required to support up to 26 cars for years. there may be a few that have been granted an exception but it's been in the rule books for years.
In case anyone forgot, GM is the top of umbrella for various American car companies like Chevy which makes the Corvette and Camaro. Also, Cadillac has some bad ass cars/suvs... Don't sleep on this engine, it will be as good as any after a couple years in my opinion.
I’d wager that the justice department inquiry was the main impetus for the change !!!

Exactly
Cadillac F1 will most likely operate similar to Cadillac IMSA/WEC
Hahaha dude disqualifies all events where Cadillac is racing and says “why don’t they build race cars” 😂😂😂 you’re a silly goose.

Eddie Jordan guaranteed it would happen and it has happened.
Eddie is always right.
I hope you're right. Though I'd prefer Andretti as I would NEVER buy any Cadillac, but knowing Michael is there,I'd be happy for them.
It's about time! Here we go! Congratulations to the Andretti's
Ok i literally just started the video but would like to make somthing clear ITS NOT OFFICIAL IS IT so why put it on your thumbnail
So why Williams? Why HAAS?

We need 24 cars on the grid. Anything less is anaemic.
As soon as I heard the Ticketmaster component it became clear to me at least that the DOJ has Liberty by the nuts.

Go back to him parading around with a piece of paper begging for signatures. That is not how a billon dollar global sport wants to be represented.
When Netflix eventually pulls the plug on DTS, F1 will quickly be forgotten in the US.
