      He comes from a rough place aswell he knows his own abilities he probably looked at Tyson fights and realise Mike wasnt a great infighter something that happend to be one his main strenghts. Plus Buster knocked Iron Mike out and he made short work off him

      Easy Grin buster Douglas fight was Tyson not taking Douglas seriously, but you are right Tyson was at his best on the midrange/ striker. In my opinion mike Tyson is the best midrange/ Stryker of all time. His inside game was a B- at best. Evander was an all around fighter but two things stood out from Evander was that he was an A+ Counter puncher, A+ inside fighter.

      I just watched Chasing Tyson, and Tyson commented on it.he says he was in fantastic shape and ready for the fight, but Holyfield was a great boxer. I think what we are missing is the great footwork of Holyfield, doesn't get credited enough. I really saw him as standing his ground , its a style that might have heads hit, but he is tough fighter. Tyson himself has been accused of using elbows etc. I think every fighter has his bag of tricks in the game.

      joey spinoza I'm a holyfeild fan but I definitely think evander used his head expertly he knew mike liked to come in and fight on the inside he was a good 2 to 3 inches taller than mike but yet he was crouching everytime mike came in and I'd say the damage he was doing was immense the fact that his head was shaven one clash of head with that would any average guy to sleep truth is he roughed Tyson up I still evander was the better boxer of the two. when Manny steward was training Lennox he demonstrated how holy held his gaurd two hands up with the top of the head out "watch out he leads with the head" Lewis and 6'5 had no problems with that

    • @sclayton6467
      @sclayton6467 8 років тому +3

      Yeah fair point but think it's also fair to say Tyson was not the same fighter against Douglas than in previous fights. Douglas was no where near Tyson as a fighter. Tyson came into the fight un prepared with personal issues and assumed he would ko Douglas early

    • @BiggieBigLnPac
      @BiggieBigLnPac 8 років тому +5

      Stuart Super Saints If anyone had personal issues it was Douglas, his mum had just died, his wife had just left him, his baby mother was dying of cancer and douglas himself had contracted a chest infection and was told by his doctors to slow down in training.Douglas had some crazy skills, he just hated training and dieting and was known to quit in fights, but when he was in shape and motivated he was a monster. 23 year old pre-prison Tyson under-prepared or not was a deadly fighter and Douglas totally destroyed him. Knocked him out with an uppercut then hit him with a 3-piece combo b4 he even hit the canvas.

    • @sclayton6467
      @sclayton6467 8 років тому +5

      'Destroyed him'?
      Don't think he did. I remember Douglas having the dodgy count in the early rounds. He was in trouble but Tyson lacked the preparation hence his fitness later.
      Just to confirm, are you putting Douglas above Tyson as an all time great?
      Are you related to James?

    • @BiggieBigLnPac
      @BiggieBigLnPac 8 років тому +3

      Stuart Super Saints Douglas won every single round except the 8th when Tyson knocked him down. by round 10 he had Tyson crawling around on the floor with a gold ball on his eye looking like he just got gang raped, if that's not being destroyed i don't know what is. And of corse you can't put Douglas above Tyson as an all time great because Tyson achieved more in his career. But that doesn't take away the fact that Douglas beat him down. Douglas had a great jab, fast hands, fast feet, he put his combos together beautifully, the combo that put Tyson down was perfect... but like i said the guy was a slob, lacked discipline, but on his A-Game he was a class fighter

      That's easy for any Tyson fan to say because they never fought in 1988. I can tell you what did happen in objective reality. Holyfield dominated Tyson twice. In 1996, when Tyson fought Holyfield, Tyson was still well within his physical prime, and he was winning back his titles. Remember that Mike Tyson was supposed to walk right through Holyfield in that matchup, so don't act like he was even close to being washed up in 1996. He was the betting favorite by a large margin. Holyfield gave Tyson a boxing lesson twice in a row, and he left no doubt who the better boxer was.

      Lucas Maximus No. As he said, Tyson tried to box him, and Holyfield was a more skilled boxer. If Tyson would have used him power and strength like in most fights in the 80's, (during his prime) i would bet on Tyson. The head butting Evander clearly used to his advantage to, since he got away witj it every time.
      Tyson tried to outbox him and therefor lost.
      Would have liked to see a more hungry Tyson against Holyfield (during tje 80s), woulf have been a more interesting fight for sure.

    • @lucasm3879
      @lucasm3879 7 років тому

      Casper Olofsson
      So you think Tyson didn't land any big shots on Holyfield in those 11 rounds? The very first punch he threw in the fight was a big right hand, and it landed - but Holyfield didn't flinch. If it was Bruno, Seldon or whoever else, they would have shit themselves.
      Your money would be on Tyson, so what? Mine would be on Holyfield.
      Also, the headbutt thing is another lame excuse. In the interview in the ring after the first fight, Tyson admitted that he butted just as much as Holyfield did, and that they had nothing to do with him losing.
      In the second fight, he started complaining about it - only because he realised that he couldn't win, so he wanted an excuse to get qualified.
      Tyson had always been a very dirty fighter, right from the start of his career and throughout his prime.

    • @lucasm3879
      @lucasm3879 7 років тому

      Casper Olofsson
      What the fuck are you actually trying to say? It's just demented gibberish. You've still just ignored the original points I made. You said Tyson tried to box Holyfield in the second fight - OK, but he tried to knock him out for 11 rounds in the first fight, he couldn't, and he got knocked out himself. That's the reality, but you're a typical Tyson fanboy who can't handle the facts. You blame headbutts, but Tyson admitted he butted just as much as Holyfield, and lost to the better man.
      He realised he couldn't beat Holyfield in the second fight, so he blamed the butts and got disqualified. I just re typed these facts for you, so maybe you'll be able to understand them this time. Take your time, I understand you have a severely stunted intellect. Maybe you'll be able to grasp it one day. Good luck.

    • @lucasm3879
      @lucasm3879 7 років тому

      Casper Olofsson
      I don't think 80's Tyson was unbeatable, he just hadn't fought anyone good enough to beat him yet. I still would pick Holyfield, he was never intimated by Tyson, and had the skills, bravery, power and chin needed to beat Mike in his prime. I think Tyson in the 80's was excellent, but not the greatest ever by a long way. He could only fight in one style, although that style was obviously very effective.
