This is what I love about speedrun communities - lots of people work together to pick apart a game over the course of years. I don't know if I was the first to embark on this challenge when I did it six years ago, but nobody had done so openly, and certainly nobody had succeeded. The top runner at the time (Coel Udd, prior to SHiFT's rise to fame) was stumped even with me having found the brain clip to beat the final boss. We were at a tantalizing 71 or so spatulas. The "TAS" I put up years later (the first Spongebob-only run to my knowledge, even if not RTA) only had moderate changes, from SHiFT having found a couple obvious things I missed and another runner helping me out, namely with clipping OoB in the Prawn fight. I just knew that whole time that there had to be _some_ last trick we were missing that would make those spatulas in high places collectible. I have no idea how VMS was even discovered, with how convoluted that setup is, but I'm glad to see that the trick I was hoping for existed. Makes me feel kind of dumb that I never had that idea to just reload the game to get the Patrick spatula in Jellyfish Fields, though - guess I just wasn't thinking outside the box enough. Congrats on having the skill and endurance to pull this off, in any case. It took a lot of time and thought from a lot of people to make even a TAS possible, let alone RTA, but the burden on one person to complete it is still enormous. (...and it's "Blox," thank you, not "Blow...")

I thought this was gonna be like Nathaniel Bandy's video on beating Sonic Adventure 2 with only Sonic where you would use hacking to switch to spongebob in sections where it starts you with Patrick or Sandy, but I commend you for doing it without hacking...

Tbh I should do this challenge with Patrick + Sandy. It would be a lot harder due to Spongebob being required for so much (like the hub world), but it might be possible to get 75 Spatulas???
I did the same thing (but I gave myself cruise boost and bubble bowl from the beginning because I wasn't taking it too seriously), and the amount of speedrun tricks i had to use was horrible. edit: If you're planning on doing this, don't. but if you still are going to.. good luck. you'll need it

You can actually get to the lodge spatula with spongebob I did it as a kid. You gotta just stand on gary and then you'll grab the ledge when you double jump. I'm almost positive. I'll edit this if I go and try again.

I beat this game without going into kelp forest, my disk was scratched up but it worked unless i try going into kelp forest
