Rhino attacks in Kaziranga National Park

- Here is a compilation of some interesting sitiuations we encountered with Rhinos while driving through Kaziranga Nationalpark. They happend mainly in remote areas of the park, off the tourist routes. The animals are not so used to cars there. In most situations the rhinos backed off before attacking but sometimes shouting or even a gunshot in the air was needed to avoid damage to both car and animal. Every year several people get killed in India and Nepal by rhinos, elephants or waterbuffalos. Unlike the rhinos which consider the car and the people in it as one big thing, the elephants are more clever and distinguish between vehicle and people. The are able to grab a person in the car with their trunk and are much more dangerous.

Not to forget the large tigers I hear roam the region, those Park staff rangers are very brave for sure.
This is India. There is no such thing as trophy hunting. Forest rangers only hunt poachers.
Don't lecture us about values for we are the people saving these beautiful animals.
Your ancestors brought them to near extinction.
We are spending our money to protect them.
Protection doesn't mean leave them be & no go zone, Because then poachers may visit them instead of Tourists.
Rather I would ask, please visit endangered animals in their habitat.
Not only it would recognise the conservation efforts but also fund it.
It will increase intrest & knowledge of new generation regarding conservation.
It's not a racial thing. We hate poachers. Don't act like nothing illegal happens in your country.

Beautifully shot. Besides getting to admire all the animals, I liked all the background noise of the animal and bird calls in the bush.
How beautifully healthy these rhino are. Well done to indian conservation program.
Thankfully this is something no tourist will likely ever experience .. I've been there and noticed that it doesn't look like any of the routes we took .. read the description and it's written there .. this is deep inside .. off limits for us.

Rhinos cant see well so they rely on their sense of hearing. They go on guard when they hear an engine.
One of the elephants appeared to be in musth.Lucky he didn't charge.

Disgusting, sad, repulsive, drepressing ...to see that poor abused elephant being tortured carrying all those people and being forced to stop so close to that rhino!!! Not to mention extremely unsafe! What kind of idiotic, cruel tourist pays goes for that! Yes, it is rangers on their way through the park. There are outposts in areas which are offlimits to tourists. We where allowed to join.

It's illegal and I'm pretty sure that they don't want to kill them. They just carry gunshots around to scare the animals, not actually kill them, after all they are in a natural reserve.

I would never go on a tourist safari tour like this. Obviously this is highly disturbing to the animals. It should be forbidden. This is not helping nature. This is catering to the hormones and adrenaline of tourists with money.

Are you nuts. Shooting a Rhino will land you at least 10 years in jail. The person shooting the rifle is not a passenger but a forest guard who accompany these vehicles in the rhino sanctuary. They shoot rifle not to kill but to scare away the rhino.

Nah, exactly the opposite, wild Indian rhinos (the ones in the forest) are super aggressive and often charge on sight,. If anything, they are far more aggressive than their African cousins. These days some Indian rhinos live on the outskirts of cities & towns (as human population is exploding), those rhinos are relatively better. And one more thing - Indian rhinos don't gore with their horns like their African cousins. They use their teeth as weapons, instead of their horns. Attacks on unarmed men are almost always fatal.

@@ramdeokumar6657 Hard to know which is more aggressive as it depends on the individuals and the areas they live in. But it has been confirmed by park authorities at Kaziranga, that many rangers have been killed by these Indian rhinos while on foot patrols. These rhinos have also been known to kill poachers and villagers also.
@@yuck4u African rhinos are more dangerous than indian rhinos because they simply bigger and stronger and way more aggressive due to thier natural environment and the animals they live with like lions, hyenas, crocodiles, hippos, giraffes, elephants. There are about 448 records of african rhinos killing people in africa.
