Yes! It is a slow burn and takes a while, but I am satisfied. I was getting annoyed at how long it was taking for her to get away from his family, but I do like that they gave us plenty of time at the end to see how her ex's family destroys themselves and she goes on to live a better life. After her mothers 2 seconds of hesitation, her parents were totally behind her leaving her husband, and the prince is SOOO SWEET! I know there are a lot of people saying the prince kept saving her, and he did save her, but she's not weak! She took over and improved her fathers business, and she was already working on getting herself away from her husband when she met the prince again. I think I'm gonna have to save this one ❤
Yeah people are so weird in ancient times no matter how strong a woman is she was always lockdowned by society those time women were not allowed to do many things unlike modern time and morever it's clearly shown the drama that FL family is kinda low status than Ml family so it take a while for her to get divorce ❤❤
One of the most heartbreaking plots. FL taking care of an ungrateful house. ML bring back wife and kids😩. Some versions the ML swears to never marry a concubine or have a family outside in secret. First time seeing the story told after the divorce, it was awesome. With a happy and retribution ending...on to the next!!!

I love how the FL had such a great support system. Her parents, the prince, the princess, and her ex BIL. Even her faithful maid was supportive. Her inlaw family was just horrible. She was treated as a mobile ATM. The Marquis kept adding new family members but didn't have the funds to support them. Even the addt'l concubine was nice, but she was pregnant along with the co wife. I don't know how they could humiliate and abuse the FL if she was holding the pursestrings. The Marquis never had any type of relations with the wife nor any communication, but he saddled her with his border wife and 2 almost 3 kids and told her to be reasonable and deal with it all. No post-it memo, courier, or smoke signal. He disrespected her and her family. They are a rich merchant family with friendly ties with the royal family. Curry favor with them should have been law #1. It's amazing how the royal family didn't look down on the FL and her family, but the poor general's family derided them. Every version of this drama gets better with meaner karma inflicted on the Hou Mansion clan. To know that the FL coupled up with a Prince way after divorcing her lowly, ungrateful general is definitely leveling up. That's true karma!
@trawetseener I've seen a few versions. In every version she divorces the cheating hubby but my fave is this version. She marries the 2nd ML/prince. The full drama is great and the karma is on point. The other versions are good but this one is complete. He truly regrets his bad decisions but I think it's for financial reasons not as much for feelings. The prince was always supporting her and his sister too helped. Since the hubby never touched his wife the prince got a virgin for a bride. Yeah!
I just love how her scumbag husband gets all uppity and jealous over her being saved by her childhood friend when HE himself was the reason she got into danger in the first place! He was responsible for her safety and chose to neglect it!
Very typical plot, with some nice twists. I really liked her maternal family and maid, the second concubine was smart and cute which was a nice contrast to the villains. She wasn't scheming against the FL, she just tried to live following the customs (a woman's innocence is extremely important and she has to marry a good family and give birth), she even pointed out how the FL was strong and knowledgeable. At the end, you can see her ambition and that's not a bad thing. She didn't cross any bottom lines, didn't anger the main couple and being smart enough to protect yourself as a woman in a ancient china is hard enough. I thought the ML pretenting to become a monk so the FL would marry him and put pressure on his family to allow it was funny. Overall, not bad. FL was strong and didn't tolerate people disrespect once her husband returned with a new woman.
FL was SO OUTSTANDING I actually felt sorry for the dopey ML who didn’t appreciate her and let her get away. The king was the world’s greatest green tea EVER and got everyone to let him marry FL as his only wife! She’s as rich as a nation! Ha ha ha! 🤗🤩🤣😝😜👏❤️😘😍🤭😚
This is the best version of this story, in my opinion. ML is so dedicated. He and his sister are a good team. I also found some parts funny, like the interaction of the ML and the doctor. The doctors comment I about putting out fires LOL. He had the nerve to say this to the prince 😂😂. Normally you see doctors being threatened if they can't heal etc it was refreshing to see. And the FL is strong but interesting. Not stiff like other versions.
Very well-cast. The writers managed to imbue a lot of characters with distinct and memorable personalities, despite the vert drama plot limitations. They made us infer scenes to save time, which really helped develop the characterization. For example--'this is my mother's lotus cake, have some' which implies ML mother knows and approves of FL, and also sets up the suspicion that the princess AND the consort were tag teaming when they were persuading the emperor to issue an edict of marriage. Loooooved the ending. Xu, the gentle and also vicious last woman standing in the Marquis' mansion, comforting the Marquis as he wails in drunken regret, then standing for her revenge and conquest little monologue. Delicious!!!
This is probably the best version of this drama as it has great acting a complete story line with no missing scenes or parts it is very well done plus very positive...life may not be perfect but when you look to find good, even in the ¨bad,¨ then life gets better, and better,...this show exemplifies that message and that to take care and value yourself & those who love respect & support you makes life worth living & filled with joy...great message...very well done drama, worth watching more than once.

This seems draggy and slow-paced in the 1st half but this is actually good. Interesting story! Plot was great, actors did an amazing job, ML was handsome and heroic, FL was beautiful, regal and righteous in her principles. Gotta love a supportive BFF and caring parents. This drama wasn’t too over the top (excessive slapping, and choking) which is what made it more believable. Ex husband wasn’t physically abusive just morally corrupt and without any remorse until it was too late. You don’t appreciate what you had until you see someone else appreciating it. 🫶 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The male lead faking to want to become a monk only because the female lead was hesitant to accept his marriage proposal.😂 And the princess helping her brother with all his crazy ideas.😂😂😂
