I just got a Merlin for Christmas in mint condition. I had one growing up. I completely forgot how to play. And I did not want to read the instruction manual to try to figure it out. So thank you so much for making this video! ❤❤❤
Thank you guys:) I still have my Merlin and Simon, my Dad had to drive to the next state to get Merlin in time for Christmas and Simon came from my Aunt. Cool to see them again and I had no clue anymore on how Merlin even worked.
What a cool game!!! I might've seen one at the Antique Mall, but I didn't know what it was. But that does kinda remind me of Simon a lot!!! But who knows, Merlin could make a comeback one day!!!
Holy ITC Avant Garde font, 80s perfection! That thing has a better manual than most electronics I've bought in the last 20 years. My friend had one of those, before any of us had real computers or video games. I swear I thought it had more games than that, but time has a way of playing tricks.
We had Simon! Wow - memories. I am not totally sure if we had Merlin, but I think my brother(s) had it. I remember the little buttons in the circle shapes. And I totally remember there was a Merlin electronic game(s).
Ah! My brother had one,and to hear those sound effects, hollee moleee I haven’t heard those since 1980! Nicely done,Keith and Abby! I shall now proceed to your previous video, featuring your friend’s candles, and purchase orange julius ones!
x What a find, and for $3! Looks fun! x 8:29 At the bottom of the list is the song London Bridge, which is on a part of Army Of Darkness AND the Weird History video 12 Things We Learned About The Middle Ages. (just released 8 days ago)
That's hilarious! It really does look like an old-school (futuristic for the time) cell phone, which of course didn't even exist back then. I guess Merlin really was ahead of its time!
Me da gusto que conserven a Merlin todavia, yo lo jugaba mucho de niña, me divertia mucho, pero se extravió😢 me gustaría tener uno de nuevo😊. Gracias por compartir.
I had one of those (most likely a hand-me-down from my aunt)! The idea of Blackjack 13 is kinda weird though...can that actually be done as a cards/Vegas game?
@@Our80sLife Well according to the rules, the dealer hits on 9 and everything below and stays on 10 and everything above. Perhaps both players start with one card (first dealer card is face down; turned up on ly when player is finished and it's dealer's turn) with an ace counted as one except if it's your first card then it's a "blackjack"/"natural"?
Quick question (from a totally unrelated topic), what do you think are great traditional Thanksgiving tv specials and films? I already have the Garfield and Peanuts specials, and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (it's not traditional but fits the spirit of Thanksgiving well).
@@Our80sLife That was actually the only longtime Thanksgiving special shown in a image for the Weird History video "Why Do We Eat Turkey On Thanksgiving?" that was released today.

It is really cool! Even better than Simon because it has a nice variety of different games... and music!
The precursor to video games

Still got 80s concets. Posters. Tickets. Shrits. Tour books. Made. 80s room.

It's really quite an impressive little electronic game for the time period. We were absolutely thrilled to discover it still works perfectly!!
As a kid, I wrote like 15 cover songs on this thing.😅
You. Guys. Are the. Best. Was class of. 1980

Merlin!! I always used it as a play pretend phone as a kid too! Lol

Si! muchas gracias lo buscaré.
This was fun. I heard about Merlin but never played with one. Did it have a silent option? If not I’ll bet parents loved that! ❤😂
Thanks Melanie! I don't think it has a silent option, lol! Kinda makes me wonder what ever happened to mine... maybe I should ask my mom, ha ha!

Hmm… I don’t know about that 🤷♀️
