- Welcome to our new channel and our first ever UA-cam video! We're excited to be able to share our adventures with you as we take our off-grid, off-road caravan around Australia.
We're complete caravan newbies and complete video newbies, but we're learning quickly!
After touring Australia for years on short trips, we've sold up pretty much everything we own and hitting the road with our family. We're looking forward to taking the path a little less travelled wherever possible and pushing the limits of caravan travel.
In this episode, we'll take you through a bit of how we got here, what caravan we've chosen and why, and our first week in our new home.

Watched a few of your videos and just subscribed. Heading out solo in 2023, Ford Ranger and a hard floor off road camper. Travelled the outback last in 1989.

Hey guys. I enjoyed your first vlog. Couldn't wait to see what van you chose. I too are very keen on Zone it's my first choice, & sunland also has a lot that I like. Strength & weight & tow vehicle all big things to consider. We will be doing very much the same as you guys in a few years so the homework has begun. Hope you guys have a great trip & look forward to seeing all your experiences.

Awesome video. Felt your excitement of picking up the van. We’re doing a factory tour this week and the Zone is on the top of our list. Looking forward you sharing your adventures with us. Just one observation. Please invest in some decent bush walking shoes for the whole family. Thongs are only good for beach, pub and caravan park. Take care and safe travels. 😀

A very good video for your first on UA-cam, I appreciate the effort put into setting up all the shots, tripods, flying the drone, (that is effective), and drive-bys.
Do a section on the videography and cameras, gear, EXIF sometimes... Film yourselves with a phone of the real camera work and setup, in an interesting spot. You will soon be as good as 4xOverland by Andrew... cheers and good luck!

Hi Liz. Heard you mention something about 'art' supplies. Curious what you are doing and how that works out traveling, since I'm going to travel soon and try to figure out what I need/can take with me and still have a good experience.
I mainly do encaustic wax and pencil artworks. You'll be able see some of my art displayed in the walk through episode coming this Sunday 10am. I like pencils over paint as it's quicker set-up and pack up and lightweight

My wife and I have something similar and have been setting ourselves up all year in Melbourne for Touring Oz and getting close to hitting the road soon hopefully - safe travels & see you on the roads for a Beer or 10 - cheers

Hi. Old vid for a comment I know. But I was wondering what your shortlist of vans were. I also hate poor design and seems a fair bit of it compared to van/troopy/trailer builds.
Totally agree. It's a bit of a minefield shopping for caravans. I wouldn't say we really had a short list. We hadn't found anything that ticked enough boxes for us to be tempted.
Great vid and my wife and I are following your trip. You have done your research really well as I reckon that Zone are the best vans made in Australia. Could I ask a big favour, I am hearing impaired and the background music is too loud and to be honest you don't need it. It interferes with your dialogue. Also, you will more than likely want to put Clearview mirrors on your doors or similar as the add on mirrors move too much. Looking forward to the next vid. Good Luck Ray and Ann Mann

Thanks, Mark. That's a really tough questions as we really didn't consider any vans that weren't a family configuration. Lightwieght, off-road capable and dust-proof were our main considerations. Have you watched our video about towing weights? That might give you some insight. 🍺
What adjustments and fixes at the first service?
Some adjustments to the awning, the internal table needed tightening and a check of the suspension. 👍

Very nice video, looking forward to more. Would like to know what extras you put on your Zone and Why? Solar panels vs battery's etc.. while I am looking forward to seeing the outdoors would like you to give the van 20min at some point :)

You have the best van out there but mate those towing mirrors are crap i had a set they shake everywhere.

#ZB167 I to have a Ranger picking our van up in Nov an interested in your adventure plus what you have done to the vehicle suspension wise if any for GVM & GCM and all the other weights
get mine in 2022 :)
No upgrades to the Ranger, but we'll be doing a video on the Ranger and Van soon and talk all about weights, stay tuned! 👍

Bit slack to take this long to comment aren't I? In my defense I've been trying my hand at this (step) parenting thing and it turns out kids are EXHAUSTING. What the hell are you thinking taking two of them in a caravan!
Great work guys. We have a little wait for our Zone #ZB226 so really interested to see how you go. We also need our tow vehicle so interested in your episode about weights you mentioned and keen to see how the Ranger stacks up. Any mods (gvm or gcm upgrades) etc. keep up the good work and look forward to following your travels.
