Yes, you are correct. This isn’t a cease and desist situation. Albert wants to get back to his roots and make a AtariAge a original homebrew site. Obviously staying out of trouble could be part of the decision. Getting the current ports printed elsewhere may be difficult, but I think it may happen. Thanks for sharing!!!
Yeah its a shame as its really cool that old systems get to have games that they never had in the past... but trying to get the rights to these games can end up being very expensive! This is a big reason why they do small runs of the games that fall under the radar. I did a video talking about this too on the main reasons we make these games... its part because people what to see their favorite games on their favorite systems, and it is a lot more work to come up with a whole new game that in the end people will not recognize!
Ordered gorf arcade and 7800 galaxian when I heard the announcement. Very interested in what companies like champ games might do, if they find a way to make cartridges
Whatever they end up doing, it's doubtful to be as prevalent as what AtariAge was for them. I wish them absolutely nothing but the beat though, some great versions of great games are losing their home.
Gorf Arcade is good. I got that and Ruby Q a couple of months ago finally and enjoying them. I would get maybe 2 games a year the past 4 years so it was fun while it lasted. Wish I had the money to order a bunch before the deadline but real life and bills are a lot these days.
I used to buy a lot of 2600 homebrews from Atariage, but it feels like the novelty is gone now, as I haven't bought the new games released the last 2-3 years ago. The new games are impressive, but they lack the charm of the original games from the late 70:s-early 80:s.
Some of them really do, others not so much. I think there's a lot of new stuff out there that's fantastic. That said, I did just place a large order of ones that are going away! Lol
Hard for me to buy into the Lic bit! If this was the case then the games would have been pulled immediately! Also notice no Atari titles are on the list! There is more to it than what is being told!
Most definitely more than meets the eye. I have seen in other situations though where a license holder, or someone who is about to acquire a license, gives the other party an advanced heads up. Especially if they want to potentially work together in the future.
@@mikesgaminggala But if it was atari ( which is not even the same company it was then ) then all atari games would be included! I think Its a Fire sale or he has sold out for green!
Well, some rumours I've heard that unfortunately I can't share yet would indicate that this very much has to do with Atari and all the licenses they've been acquiring recently.
It's a shame But totally understandable, I just think a lot of these ips are very niche And the rights holders are not making fortunes from many of them these days, They should let people continue to produce great home brews Of these older I p's And just take the cut, That's just my opinion
Many of them do, but things may be changing. Thanks for your comment! I'm posting another video after some more thought and I've included your point in there. :)
I don't think this affects anything posted in the forums, but to the beat of my knowledge the store only sells physical games. Many of these games are available elsewhere as ROM purchases such as Champ Games though.

Homebrew has always walked a fine line when it comes to this stuff. I suppose time will tell! I did pick up Pac Man 4K though. 😉
Good idea
@@mikesgaminggala I like pacman 8k almost no flicker (4k has some) but 8k is 🤯
Nice video man, important for those not in the know so to speak.🕹👍

I'll check your video out! Would be interested to hear from more of a programmer side.

Champ Games is the whole reason I got back into Atari 2600 even though it would take 27 years for Albert to make a cartridge and ship out

Nice Video ! Sub & Big Like ! And love retro games !
Thank you and welcome! 😁
Ahah this should have a connection with Atari (the company) recently buying Atari Age now!
Yep! This is an old video, I've done a few since then! 🙂

@@mikesgaminggala That's great mate I look forward to watching it
Good video and opinion on what's going on with AtariAge! I just heard about this yesterday! I will have to order a few titles before they are gone!
Absolutely! I placed a large order today for stuff I had my eye on!
will homebrews be allowed as download on the site or is this just physical-related

Ack! You guys better jump on the trackball series, reactor, missile command, and Star Wars are a must…
Ya, sad news, but It'll be okay. I'm certain that most of these games will still be available in some way shape or form.
