I live in ranch country in southern sask and all the brandings are about half of the calves of three years ago. The part that caught me off gaurd was thant only a few are trying to rebuild the rest are breaking land and going farming.

With the advance age of the American cattleman herd expansion will be limited. You will never see a return to high beef cow numbers.
