Ethiopian Federalism is not ethnic based. There are 80+ different nations inside 10 states united as one union. If states were drawn purely on ethnic boundaries, shouldn't there be more than 80+ states? States were drawn according to commonalities in language, settlement patterns and consent of the people in each nation during a 4 year long negotiation from 1991-1995. It's unpatriotic to disparage any country's constitution let alone your own. Look up Article 46 of the 🇪🇹 FDRE constitution. More sensible than just ethnic boundaries. My message to Amharas is - when do we stop and ask for independent investigation? When do we hold the actual criminals accountable? Do we wait until another 500,000 people are dead? The 1995 constitution is wrongly labelled as Ethnic, which raises the question what is not Ethnic in Ethiopian context. just simply dividing the political spectrum as Ethnic vs Unionist is a semantics imperialism that emboldens the rhetoric of the the hegemonic true Ethicists. Ethiopia is the result of occupation of indigious african tribal lands by the othordox church which affiliates with its western allies in the catholic church ( france, germany, italia & most catholics in the EU) in order to subjugate, colonise and christianize a majority muslim land and using ethnicity to hold the country together. So the other way is to dismantle the whole venture and let the big ethnic groups unbolt and created their own countries, Oromia for the oromos, Amhara for the amharas, Tigres should join fellow tigres in Eretria, Somalis should join their mother land somalia and the rest in western ethiopia which is mostly nilotic can join their brothers in south sudan. At various junctures of Ethiopias history dating back to Axum and the Adal empires, there has been expansions and war where the Adulites wiped out their Christian counterparts and vice versa where the Axumites expanded their territories and kingdoms. Through it all the various ethnic groups have coexisted, and the majority of Ethiopians by in large are Christian and Muslim, literally half. There are also verified historical accounts that had it not been for the Oromo expansion to the north and west of the nation there may have been an Adulite dominance back in the 16th century. The ottoman influence, to expand religious based expansion, and British and other European (namely Italian) influence into the culture and political ideologies that predated the 20th century can be recognized as factors that brought about political division by ethnic/tribal affiliation. And since the period of Zemene mesafint after the fall of Axum Ethiopians while not equal under the feudal system we’re not unequal based on ethnicity, but by the nobility and common folks like else where in the world during these eras. It is not unique to Ethiopia and it is baseless to push total responsibility on the Orthodox Church or Christian expansion. If religious oppression existed why is half of the Ethiopian population muslim? The real change in political structures came after the Marxist, Leninist socialization of Ethiopian youth in the 60s and 70s as part of the greater work of dividing the country for conquest and the conflicts that ensued from the late 70s thru the 90s can also be largely attributed to fall outs from the Cold War when the world was fighting an ideological battle. So no ethnic federalism was not created to preserve Ethiopia, it is the very ingredient to the demise of many and application of false narratives that vilify certain people against others. We must acknowledge that this interference and the political influence of indoctrinated elites from various groups but more specifically the 3 dominant (Amhara, Oromo and Tigrayans) are still the ones most discussed. The others in the over 80 ethnic communities are small in number and this their plight against, one, some or all of the dominant cultures is rarely even discussed. The TPLF who were the victors of the socialist liberation movements completely switched gears and embedded into their communist structures an ethno-linguistic system that virtually calls out the Amharas as the enemy of their ethnic group. This political group created and institutionalized its doctrine into the fabric of the politics over 3 decades and took full advantage of the power structure by applying the same western born colonial process of divide and conquer due to the fact that they (Tigrayans) were a smaller (6%) of the population. That said it neither stayed true to its cause of liberating Tigryans or providing social justice, as it converted into a capitalist autocracy that created a vast economic imbalance, rewarded corruption, empowered division by enthroning one group and dethroning another, creating minority populations that natively lived in lands and territories now designated as belonging to one ethnic group and communities in these newly created ethnical federal regions of all ethnic groups were systematically oppressed, displaced and or killed. Amharas suffered greatly during TPLF specifically in places like Welkait which was annexed into Tigray and followed a process of ethnic cleansing that spanned decades, disallowed use of native language and wiped out males specifically as your ethnic identity is classified by fathers identity. Entire generations were wiped out in these areas leaving behind only those who lived through these changes to tell the stories of what was done to the people. The OLA-OnegShene-OLF are all linked to the Oromo Prosperity party and have been linked to multiple atrocities committed against ethnic Amharas. The OLA has also publicly declared its alliegiance with the TPLF, who as stated also had an agenda for wiping out Amharas as their main enemies. It is the very constitution that was inspired by these doctrines that has been maintained after the “change”. While the leaders names and faces have changed, the system of oppression has been preserved, the federal government is applying the same TPLF like suppression of voices, mass arrests, human rights violations etc in the name of order. The TPLF has caused massive destruction and propaganda to vilify Amharas, falsify their plight to that of the Tigrayan people who were also largely forgotten and also oppressed by the same fascist system then ethnically charged by waging a war and calling it defense, attacking Afars and Amharas while playing victim and all the while bringing pain and suffering to the people of Tigray who never deserved any of the wrath brought on by the TPLF and their associates. The OLA allegiance with TPLF is a fact, both groups have been the attackers of Amharas in various regions and the GoE’s inability to secure and protect ethnic Amharas but moreover it’s lack of recognition or empathy to the pain and suffering of these constituents is what has made Ethiopians lose faith in its intent. On hand hand it has not insistently addressed the ethnic apartheid system, it has been silent on many incidents against Amharas and been vocal about unity and sidelining of “extremists” and “tribalism” while it’s the very tribal ideology that it is now taking advantage of for political power grabs. Systemic change, justice for the wrongs committed at the highest level and candid discussions and negotiations of future policies and processes to implement would be the start. Of bringing about real change, not the few chapter brought in 2018 that reads much like the old chapter of EPRDF.

With all due respects, I object to the statistical misinformation about the size of Amhara population. No citation has even been given. Until the census done by the notorious Amhara hating regime of Meles Zenawi, Amharas have been the largest ethnic population in Ethiopia. Both genicidal regimes worked hard to change the demography inside Ethiopia to misrepresent Amharas as second in population.

It resulted in approximately 500,000 deaths and incalculable property damage. With the Tigray war subsiding, another 200 or so Amharas are killed and this time, it is being used to wage war against the OLA. My message to Amharas is - when do we stop and ask for independent investigation? When do we hold the actual criminals accountable? Do we wait until another 500,000 people are dead? The investigation will happen! If you have not noticed - the UN has approved and investigative team to investigate the Tigray war crimes. I am confident this one too, will be investigated. It will not help any of the dead or the ones that are going to die as a result of the war, if we investigate after the fact. Please stand with all the groups that are asking for independent investigation. Reserve your judgements till after that.

Amhara regional government was also waging war in Benishangul Gumz Region, still has presence there, with Tigray region and still has presence there, some incidents of irregular forces entering into the region of Oromia and doing some operations. The Oromia state was in war with its own Oromo constituencies that were deemed to have differences with the vision of change that the current regime is trying to sell ........

Ethiopia is the result of occupation of indigious african tribal lands by the othordox church which affiliates with its western allies in the catholic church ( france, germany, italia & most catholics in the EU) in order to subjugate, colonise and christianize a majority muslim land and using ethnicity to hold the country together. This ethnic glue is a very weak binding agent and really an exercise in futility. So the other way is to dismantle the whole venture and let the big ethnic groups unbolt and created their own countries, Oromia for the oromos, Amhara for the amharas, Tigres should join fellow tigres in Eretria, Somalis should join their mother land somalia and the rest in western ethiopia which is mostly nilotic can join their brothers in south sudan. At various junctures of Ethiopias history dating back to Axum and the Adal empires, there has been expansions and war where the Adulites wiped out their Christian counterparts and vice versa where the Axumites expanded their territories and kingdoms. Through it all the various ethnic groups have coexisted, and the majority of Ethiopians by in large are Christian and Muslim, literally half. There are also verified historical accounts that had it not been for the Oromo expansion to the north and west of the nation there may have been an Adulite dominance back in the 16th century. The ottoman influence, to expand religious based expansion, and British and other European (namely Italian) influence into the culture and political ideologies that predated the 20th century can be recognized as factors that brought about political division by ethnic/tribal affiliation. And since the period of Zemene mesafint after the fall of Axum Ethiopians while not equal under the feudal system we’re not unequal based on ethnicity, but by the nobility and common folks like else where in the world during these eras. It is not unique to Ethiopia and it is baseless to push total responsibility on the Orthodox Church or Christian expansion. If religious oppression existed why is half of the Ethiopian population muslim? The real change in political structures came after the Marxist, Leninist socialization of Ethiopian youth in the 60s and 70s as part of the greater work of dividing the country for conquest and the conflicts that ensued from the late 70s thru the 90s can also be largely attributed to fall outs from the Cold War when the world was fighting an ideological battle. So no ethnic federalism was not created to preserve Ethiopia, it is the very ingredient to the demise of many and application of false narratives that vilify certain people against others. We must acknowledge that this interference and the political influence of indoctrinated elites from various groups but more specifically the 3 dominant (Amhara, Oromo and Tigrayans) are still the ones most discussed. The others in the over 80 ethnic communities are small in number and this their plight against, one, some or all of the dominant cultures is rarely even discussed. The TPLF who were the victors of the socialist liberation movements completely switched gears and embedded into their communist structures an ethno-linguistic system that virtually calls out the Amharas as the enemy of their ethnic group. This political group created and institutionalized its doctrine into the fabric of the politics over 3 decades and took full advantage of the power structure by applying the same western born colonial process of divide and conquer due to the fact that they (Tigrayans) were a smaller (6%) of the population. That said it neither stayed true to its cause of liberating Tigryans or providing social justice, as it converted into a capitalist autocracy that created a vast economic imbalance, rewarded corruption, empowered division by enthroning one group and dethroning another, creating minority populations that natively lived in lands and territories now designated as belonging to one ethnic group and communities in these newly created ethnical federal regions of all ethnic groups were systematically oppressed, displaced and or killed. Amharas suffered greatly during TPLF specifically in places like Welkait which was annexed into Tigray and followed a process of ethnic cleansing that spanned decades, disallowed use of native language and wiped out males specifically as your ethnic identity is classified by fathers identity. Entire generations were wiped out in these areas leaving behind only those who lived through these changes to tell the stories of what was done to the people. The OLA-OnegShene-OLF are all linked to the Oromo Prosperity party and have been linked to multiple atrocities committed against ethnic Amharas. The OLA has also publicly declared its alliegiance with the TPLF, who as stated also had an agenda for wiping out Amharas as their main enemies. It is the very constitution that was inspired by these doctrines that has been maintained after the “change”. While the leaders names and faces have changed, the system of oppression has been preserved, the federal government is applying the same TPLF like suppression of voices, mass arrests, human rights violations etc in the name of order. The TPLF has caused massive destruction and propaganda to vilify Amharas, falsify their plight to that of the Tigrayan people who were also largely forgotten and also oppressed by the same fascist system then ethnically charged by waging a war and calling it defense, attacking Afars and Amharas while playing victim and all the while bringing pain and suffering to the people of Tigray who never deserved any of the wrath brought on by the TPLF and their associates. The OLA allegiance with TPLF is a fact, both groups have been the attackers of Amharas in various regions and the GoE’s inability to secure and protect ethnic Amharas but moreover it’s lack of recognition or empathy to the pain and suffering of these constituents is what has made Ethiopians lose faith in its intent. On hand hand it has not insistently addressed the ethnic apartheid system, it has been silent on many incidents against Amharas and been vocal about unity and sidelining of “extremists” and “tribalism” while it’s the very tribal ideology that it is now taking advantage of for political power grabs. Systemic change, justice for the wrongs committed at the highest level and candid discussions and negotiations of future policies and processes to implement would be the start. Of bringing about real change, not the few chapter brought in 2018 that reads much like the old chapter of EPRDF.

Until the census done by the notorious Amhara hating regime of Meles Zenawi, Amharas have been the largest ethnic population in Ethiopia.
