    Well. What can you say? (Like and Subscribe maybe 👍🔔)
    Some bright spots in this one 🌟 and probably one that shines brighter than the others ✨ but this was a good game to analyze for positives. Hope you enjoyed the game 🏒, it was a good game of hockey you have to admit - some mistakes here and there ❌ but solid 💪.
    Hope you're having a good night 🌙 and don't forget to check out the poll tomorrow! 📊

    As predicted a wrist shot goal, the guy has the best pass I've ever seen on a Habs teams, and I've been watching since 1987. Amazing pass = amazing wrist shot use it.

    Felt so good to see Hutson get his first one . He is very talented but he also shows a lot of heart and works his butt off as well . No wonder the fans love him .
    I get when people get in their feelings when they see Michkov producing but having a shortage of right handed d-men is a major part of the problems the habs are having this year . Lets at least wait to see what Reinbacher can do before passing judgment on that draft choice . If he pans out i think him and Hutson could become a crazy good duo .
    Didn’t mind the loss , they could have gotten a W or at least gotten to overtime with a bit more luck.
    As for offday topics how bout ranking the best hockey related movies/shows ?

    • @whiskeylung
      @whiskeylung  День тому +1

      Agreed!
      Man I hope Reinbacher can rise to the occasion. Who was the right handed D that recently got a trade? Not Trouba obviously…
      Jiricek! I thought they should have figured out a way to get him. Justin Barron is really getting the opportunity to rise to the occasion but he’s making some mistakes - maybe it’ll take him getting some solid time and finding his game to demonstrate he’s capable.

    • @pmonty420
      @pmonty420 День тому

      @ I’m not sure about Baron , he makes a lot of bad decisions but some young d-men do take more time to develop and reach their full potential . Maybe they should of kept Kovacevic ?
      Hopefuly , if Mailloux and Reinbacher are able to live up to expectations we will have a pretty solid d-squad for years to come . ( Guhle , Xhekaj , Mailloux , Rheinbacher , Hutson ) .
      Jiricek would have been another Baron youngster project type player , he doesn’t have much NHL experience .

      What in the heck! Read two Jets fans comments basically back to back. I guess UA-cam is pushing my video out to Jets fans now 😂.
      Laine has been fun! In a way I wish he had worked out in Winnipeg, I was really rooting for him in the rookie race. I think he still carries the flame for the team but I hope the Montreal market suits him.

    i love your videos) what makes me laugh is that we actually play well when we play with the leaders. so, a few words about the game, i sincerely liked it. i hoped that we could win, but no matter how many times this season we pulled the goalie to score, it never worked out, i'm waiting for us to do it. so, from the good:
    - hutson's goal, we've been waiting for this for a long time
    - finally the first line is what it should be. and they looked insanely good, i don't even have any questions about slaf's game, he was good, but can better
    - i always say this, but anderson is on fire, oh my god
    - xhekaj gets better with every game, i really like him in the latest games
    - they didn't give up, and fought to the end, which is what they lack in every other game, and this, i think, is worthy of praise
    from the minuses:
    - mathison
    - dach
    - referees
    i think that evans should be put on 2с, because dach doesn't win faceoffs and doesn't create a single attack
    that's all for me.

    • @oldhab7890
      @oldhab7890 День тому

      I too am mystified why Evans is not promoted to the second line. While I don't think Dach will ever be the player he was projected to be, if you want to give him more time, centering the third line would allow him to play with veterans that have some scoring potential.

    • @kkkkkkkkkkIllllllll
      @kkkkkkkkkkIllllllll День тому

      @ I am neutral towards dach, I understand everything perfectly, a serious injury, it is very hard for him, yes, but he objectively ruins the whole game. He is the center - he should lead the line, but he is zero. They put him in the first line to raise his confidence - it did not help, they lowered him to the 4th line - it did not help, I do not know what will help him anymore. And I am puzzled by why evans is on the 4th line, it is unfair, he is the most underrated player, and also one of the most reliable.

    • @whiskeylung
      @whiskeylung  День тому +1

      Evans is still killing it, he puts it all on the line so often and rarely is punished for it.

    Despite the loss I really thought we played a great game. The Hutson goal was sweet and I’m continually impressed with the deadly accuracy of Laine’s shot. Rarely does he seemed to let fly on a one-timer that misses the net and goes around the backboard to our end of the ice. I love the mental games with Hellebuyck. I feel like they all were enjoying the good natured ribbing.

    Doesn't matter which top team or whichever superstar netminder they're facing, not scoring at 5 on 3 with your supposedly best PP players on the ice is still pretty shameful. It's even more frustrating when you know how improved the PP overall is from last season. But well, shows there's still some length of work remaining to be tweaked.
    Anyway very happy for Lane, I'm sure it's only the 1st of many. It's so cool his first came at 5 on 5 against such a strong team and such a masterful goalie. Michkov better keep scoring, the Lane Hutson Calder Train has now disengaged all brakes.

    Great video, Whiskeylung, you are fast becoming one of my favorite Habs-related channels! I only have one disagreement, and it's a minor one. Talking about the greatest goalie of all time, and showing Price? Price is up there, for sure, but I think you are a bit mistaken. Right team, wrong player. The GOAT for goalies is definitely a Hab, but it's not Price, it's Dryden. Dryden played less than a decade (admittedly on the best team hockey has ever put out, those seventies Habs, no matter what the Bruins say, who got the record for most points in a season in a league with no ties and two more games played every year!). He won six cups, a Calder, a Smythe, and five Vezinas, and that was with sitting out the 73-74 season in a contract dispute with the Habs. The only guy who could have challenged him was Tretialk, the Soviet goalie, but he only played against NHL talent a few times in his career, so we will never know how good he would have been. If goalie runner Kreider hadn't destroyed his knees, I'm sure Price would have had at least one cup by now, but no one in the league can touch Dryden!

    I don't know but I completely disagre. It wasn't so bad as against pens, but still horrible game. Too many penalties. Inefectivity in PPs even 5on3. If Monty wouldn't performed like he did, the score could have been much worse. 1st line don't have their old grit. They need time to find chemistry again. Second line is useless cuz Patty is there alone. Dach still plays underwhelmingly, Newhook is definitely not top 6 player, he has such a low impact on the game. Evans played great again, he wins so many 1on1 battles, but nobody noticing. He should play second centre. I know Marty likes 3rd,4th line as is, but is it worth it when you have bad second line? Evans could create much more chances for Patty than Dach or Newhook. Even dvorak would fit in better with him than Dach who should play 3/4 line wing with his current form. Savard played great, Xhekaj was good, Ghule too, Hutson great, Matheson mid/ok. Marty shouldn't be a head coach, maybe assistant. Im becoming alergic to MTL management and leadership. They're doing so many mistakes (like Slafs future salary) and one or two trades won't fix it. This season is screwed and the next won't be much better.

    Losing is losing whether by 1 or 10, saying the Habs had a good game but lost is just wrong. Losing teaches you how to lose. Especially this year when a playoff spot in the Atlantic is there for the taking, the Canadiens not being able to put together any momentum is frustrating.
    As the season progresses, I hope Hughes fixes the holes in our centre position and finds a backup goaltender. I don't think it is fair for Montembeault and Primeau to be in the positions they are in.
    Great to see Hutson get a goal. He will attract a lot more Calder attention if he starts potting a few more and keeps up his assist pace.

I'm not sure who it was, maybe Legorocks, another great hockey UA-camr, a couple of months ago talked about Colorado's rebuild, specifically after they got MacKinnion. It was ten years between when they drafted MacKinnion to when they won the Cup, and then stunk for a good portion of that decade. Montreal is getting there. Look at what we already have. Hutson is way wiser than his years, 20 points before the half way mark of the season for a rookie? And not just a rookie, a rookie defenseman? Slaf is progressing well, Suzuki is fast becoming one of the best captains in the league, Caufield is always an offensive threat, Dach and Anderson seem to be coming to life, and across the pond, Demidov is still blowing everyone away. The Habs will get there. This rebuild is not even five years old.

      Relax dude, they are miles away from being good. Losing = getting better players and hopefully win. Unlike Buffalo.

    #2 I would like to be able to pause and unpause time as my superpower
    #3 I see you have a guitar in the background, do you play any?
    #4 you should ask hockey junkie to promote your channel

      1. I know… let’s keep trying to be patient. 😔
      2. That sounds like another superpower we might need to keep our eye on. 😂
      3. Love playing guitar, played in a few bands but we never “made it”, furthest I’ve ever gotten is to the East coast music awards playing in the rock band showcase. 🎸
      4. I wouldn’t want to impose something like that on him, he’s been such a big help to me that he’s already done more than I could ever ask from him. He’s a great guy for helping out a smaller channel just out of no where and if he ever feels like he wants to shout me out - that’s amazing, otherwise, he’s already done more than anyone could ask for as a community leader in this space.

    1) Jake Evans should have had his head up! this is what happens when you are looking at the puck, not the play. it's hockey 101!! Literally the first thing taught (even before learning to skate)
    2) you conveniently left out the footage of Savard hooking, tripping and then punching Sheifele in the back of the head... you left in partial footage of the punch. (this is why Sheifele was on the ice, getting up to retaliate, not instigate. Jets should not have had the only penalty in that play. cheap AF!
    3) Montreal didn't pay the refs enough to win this one
