I love "Hubris of Humanity"... Before you, I didn't think of those human-shape bullets as being very useful for interesting danmaku, but you make them paint such cheeky and evocative pictures in a way that Hecatia and others would totally do. And that final spell is just awesomely perfect.
DAMNNNNNN That Terra Sign "Hubris of Humanity" is like instant favorite spellcard for me! It's the most epic spellcard ever! "The Worlds that Hang in the Balance" is also very terrifying. Getting smashed by Wrecking Worlds don't sound like a good idea.
+smileeme34 As my friend pointed out, the spell sorta paints a narrative. Notice that the Moon is the first to open fire after the humans "colonize" the lunar surface. The Earth simply retaliates with missiles, and the war escalates until the Lunarians just blow up the Earth entirely. While it does highlight humanity's "hubris" to want to extend their reach to the stars (and the Moon), the Moon Shot First :V
+TooEliteForYou It's one of my favorite new themes from LoLK, just below Pure Furies. And while Raiko's theme isn't bad, I felt it lacked power (something which arrangements provided in spades). But Pandemonic Planet just has so much energy and feeling to it--it feels reminiscent of an older-style ZUN song.
+TooEliteForYou I guess it's because there's not a lot of instruments used in the earlier parts of her theme, and it sounds pretty empty in comparison to Junko's very dense music throughout. And the lack of trumpets in those parts maybe irk some ZUNpets enthusiasts, I dunno. I actually like the direction ZUN is taking his music with, which is a sentiment not shared by most. Raiko's theme may sound empty as well seeing it doesn't have a strong second voice to accompany the main melody, and instead relying on percussions to fill that role. I personally like that theme too though, since I love percussion heavy music in general.
+AJS Huh, funnily enough it's the reverse for me. I find Raiko's theme much more tense, while Hecatia's sounds more like a stage 3-4 boss theme except for that part near the last.
+zerobreaker000 Me myself, I feel like Raiko's theme is a bit too empty. The only thing I really enjoyed, ironically, were the drums. With Pandemonic Planet though, it has that powerful yet playful tone about it that most Extra themes seem to have. It's definitely a favorite right behind Hartmann's Youkai Girl.
Very, very creative, especially the one on the moon surface. The thumbnail made me think there was going to be a spell where she turned giant and all you could see was her giant face, though. Kind of still want it.
Oh my god. I have to say, I'm a sucker for Hecatia stuff. Her attacks may be simple and/or predictable at times, but people come up with crazy good ideas for her. Keep up the good work as always, AJS!
If you take requests, I have one for a remake of Sakuya's fight! Knife speeds - Green (slowest), Blue (Medium), Red (Fast) 1st cooldown - Sakuya throws two streams of red knives at your sides, and throws small bunches of blue knives in-between, in short bursts. Time Sign "Silverbound" - Sakuya charges up, then fires a very thick ring of blue knives. Then she freezes time, switches out some blues for green knives aimed in your position, and unfreezes time. 2nd cooldown - Throws a sweep of green knives upward (think Rumia's "Night Bird", but upside-down), which bounce off the edge of the screen twice and change colors (1st bounce - G-B, 2nd bounce - B-R) before leaving after turning red or going to the bottom. Illusion Sign "Bounce No-Bounce" - Same as Silverbound, but with green knives instead of blue, and freezing time makes her swap out some greens for red knives aimed the opposite direction. 3rd cooldown - Fires a stream of random-color knives aimed either at you, or "Eternal Meek"-style. (AKA everywhere) Clock Sign "Luna Dial" - Charges up, then summons special _clock projectiles_ that slow you down to 1/4 as long as your character sprite touches it. Also fires three rings of blue knives, which will also get slowed down by the clocks. 4th cooldown - Does a revamped version of her first attack as the EoSD St5 boss (you do what you want here) Silver Sign "Mad Dummy" - Throws a _purple knife_ at you (even faster than red!) that bounces around the screen over seven times, leaving a blue-knife ring after each bounce. Every few seconds, Sakuya tosses another purple knife at you. Illusionary "Killing Doll" - Starts moving around and summons two spell runes that orbit her and leave blue knives that stay in place for a moment, before turning red and flying at the player. Sakuya also occasionally fires red-knife rings.
Someone (or maybe ZUN) should make an Ikaruga-like Bullet Hell shooter with Hecatia, where you have to to change body to absorb projectiles in order to power up or use bomb.
Do you think you could make some tutorials on how to make these scripts? I have no idea how these scripts work at all. They just look like jargon hither and thither. .w.
+BusiedGem Official There are actually quite a few tutorials out there by scripters who have a lot more technical knowledge than I do. I recommend Helepolis's video tutorials (ua-cam.com/video/ZdDc-SkBFWI/v-deo.html) and SparenOfIria's more in-depth guides and tutorials (sparen.github.io/ph3tutorials/ph3tutorials.html). Good luck! It seems a lot more intimidating than it actually is, but if you keep at it, it gets easier and easier.
AJS Alrighty, thank you. I was thinking about making an actual Touhou fangame, along with some other random scripts for joke/testing purposes, like random bossfights and such, but when I get that nailed, I'll actually get to work on an actual fangame. owo
I had just recently decided to try out my own fanmakufu skill, so I did the Sparen quide. The patterns made by spirals look really nice, but are hard to program (for me at least).
Start with simple spirals and then mess around and experiment from there. Think of a basic spiral as just a bunch of circles being fired repeatedly, with each circle being shifted a little bit clockwise/counterclockwise. Then from there you can start to toy with how different spiral speeds affect the pattern, introduce gaps, and even throw in a "sin" or "cos" to make your very own BoWaP ;P
That third spell card. THOSE TRIANGLES, that made me no doubt about Trinitarian Rhapsody's triangles, and made me die of laughter by the way. And you could put a SURVIVAL warning before the fourth spell. The ending was quite funny, but looks like Hecatia betrayed Junko and made you see who's the boss. You could also make Hecatia say "You piece of JUNKo !" before she kicks her, but seems it's a pretty bad joke so you didn't put it I believe. And annotations pls. =) So, that makes her four spells and three non spells, you could at least put health stars. My opinion on Junko is just that only her theme is good, and maybe her character, but her patterns made her battle look like a bit... empty.
+AJS I want to see Junko. I bet you can make her more awesome. I also would like to see Junko teamed up with Hecatia vs Yukari like the Celestial battle that you created long time ago.
+Poomipat Plienkham I typically work on scripts in order of whichever one I have the most motivation for at the time, and usually end up changing them or cutting stuff out as I go. This script, for instance, was originally going to be MUCH sillier and involve several completely-joke-y Clownpiece spells, but I decided to cut them out. I actually do have a couple of Junko things in mind, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to those ideas. But then again, another boss "duel" script would be pretty cool...
Well when you're closer to the moon, the Earth is gonna look a lot smaller, right? The Spellcard is probably from the viewpoint of the Lunarians, watching the humans invade.
Please give Junko a chance to shine :( Please make some creative danmaku patterns for her...I'm not saying that her danmaku is bad, it's just way too simple (Because it's "Pure.") I'm begging you...do it...
+FrosTEA I heard about a script contest where characters had their opposite abilities all of a sudden. Like, for example, Cirno would use fire attacks or something like that. i think Junko would fit in like a glove to that, since she would thus have the ability to dirty anything, and thus you could use the flashiest attacks possible.
Oh hey! You finally got to do the original script you wanted back then with Eirin (it was Hubris of Humanity I think?) I kinda remember you saying that you wanted something with Eirin on the moon and people shooting lasers or something? Glad to see that idea implemented here! //also I love that moonwalk spell card oh gosh it looks so fun and cool and I can really see it in an official game! I mean, of course anything with amazing gimmick, funny as heck scripts, or both is definitely AJS but damn you just officially earn that title with the Illuminati spell card
The ending was priceless...
