When she first started teaching in the 1940s, there were fifty kids per class, so the school had half days.
As of this recording in June 2024, Mrs. Hunt is 101 years old, just shy of her 102nd birthday in July.
When she says, "my mother told me the right way to live," she is referencing her practice of praying and thanking God for the food before sending the first graders to lunch. (I very clearly remember her praying, and it has had a HUGE impact on my life these fifty years.)
