    Must be an unusual amount of snow from the way you were talking. For the season we're down at only 111 inches and 30 minutes north they are way down from last year at ONLY 198 inches for the season. Glad you seem to have had fun with your lil tractor. Something that I used when I used a snowblower was Pam cooking spray however when it's sticky snow not much will stop the sticking.

      We’ve had more snow this February and early March than we’ve ever had. The entire month of February never got above freezing. The snow isn’t too bad it’s the cold and dry air that really gets to me. As I type this I’m sitting on the sundeck of a cruise ship headed towards the Bahamas. My wife picked a good winter to get out of Minnesota.
      Definitely needed the break. 👍😁
      Keep on tractoring and God bless

      @@ritterjon Minnesota? Yup it was cold there. When it left you folks it headed east into upstate NY (located north of Syracuse NY), I think this week is the first week with more than a day or two in a row above freezing since January. Enjoy the boat ride, and heat, as you've earned it. And I still want a set up like yours :)

    God has blessed you with a beautiful family, I love your daughters kitty cat hat. Just think about how much fun they are having playing in the snow they would miss that if you moved somewhere warm, I remember some of my best memories are of playing in the snow, my father would take me and my two sisters over to my aunt's house she had a hill in her backyard that was great for sledding, here in NJ we have been snow deprived this winter, a couple of 1 to 3 inch snowfalls that's it, but we've had a lot of rain this winter, thanks for sharing.

    • @ritterjon
      @ritterjon  5 років тому

      Thanks so much Peter, I am a lucky man, there's no doubt about it. I can't wait for it to warm again so we can take the girls to the big sledding hill in town. We certainly have plenty of snow to last us half way into April at least. Lots of time to play in the snow yet. It just need to warm up a bit. Today it was -18 when we work up. Suppose to warm up to -4. I think we'll stay inside today. :-) Some of my fondest memories are also going to the local sledding hill with my dad, building jumps and having fun.
      Thanks for the kind comment and God bless.

    Hey Jon,
    Your neighbors to the south are getting buried as well. I went up to plow my 94 year old Dad out and found him lying on the floor after suffering a fall earlier that morning. When I found him, he had been there for 7 1/2 hours. He has been hospitalized/ assisted living for 25 days. He passed away yesterday morning. Although I will miss him greatly, at 94 he had an incredible run.
    All the snow that is piled every where and piled deep, is making it tough to find enough room to park everybody. February is my least favorite month of the year and this year is certainly no exception.
    As always Jon, sure do enjoy your videos. Keep 'em comin'.
    Gary from Iowa

    Hi Jon! 30 inches of snow? I can’t even imagine it. Come to think of it, I don’t want to imagine it! I might try that silicone spray on my tilting utility trailer. Maybe I can actually dump loads with that on there. Always heartwarming to see you playing with your family! Stay warm and keep ‘em coming!

      Enough snow to last us awhile. I'm going to do a video soon of just driving around our two so you can really see how ridiculous it is. That silicone spray might work well on your trailer. I've actually used PAM cooking spring on my dump trailer and it worked pretty well. I might have to try it on the snowblower as well.

    Good morning Jon. LOL. I think your daughter was waiting for you to use the tractor to pull her car out of the snow. :)) Looks like you are finally getting some good snowfalls there and hey , getting a day off work to spend some time on the tractor and with the family is never a bad thing. I also heard that spraying the equipment with silicon spray would reduce the stick factor and I haven't tried it yet, but not sure it did much, from what I could see, but appreciate you testing it out a little more and I will be interested to see how it fairs after a few more uses. Thanks again and enjoy the unexpected holiday with the family!

      They weren't getting far in their little plastic fisher price car. I can't believe that snow amounts we are getting and more is forecasted to come. I think the silicon spray worked great on my blade but the snowblower didn't look like it made much difference however that was after 3 hours of blowing snow so it wore off. I'll keep testing.
      Keep on tractoring and God bless.

      Pretty soon we’re going to start getting that heavy wet snow so I figure it’s about time I come up with a solution. Many subs have commented that Fluid Film works good as well. That is a good amount of snow! So cool when kids does not have school AND you don't have to go to work AND you can take care of your family AND have some tractor seat time! Life is nice! I think one other comment below mention about the silicone has to be dry to be effective. Also, pay attention the paint is perfectly dry before applying. There could be a slight condensation. Anyways, your snow blower is effective enough, you don't seem to need that much silicone. Thanks for sharing Jon!

    • @ritterjon
      @ritterjon  5 років тому

      I was wondering about drying time, I'm sure it's in the directions on the can but who really takes their time to read those. Thanks for the advise. As a school teacher snow clearing works out well for me. Heavy snowfall days usually result in a day off or at least a 2 hour delay start. We've had 5 snow days this year which has never happened in my career. We'll be making up a few of those days in June.

    Amsoil Marine grade silicone grease.
    This grease is used on the outside Hull of sea going ships to prevent severe rusting.
    It's not a spray though and you have to use a shop rag to apply it.(like waxing a car another words)
    This stuff WILL NOT wash off once applied.Use it inside your snow discharge chute too.

    The back plow is a perfect accessory to go with a snow blower. Able to pull the snow away from the garage doors in the house and then blow it to Kingdom Come. So many of the snow blowers leave quite a pile right in front of the garage door cuz that's as close as they can get. Some but not many are able to run sideways next to the garage doors and that works pretty good but in general that's not how things go.

    Hey Jon, one idea to look at is lube made for bike chains-- I recently started using the stuff on my mountain bike, as it says it sticks to the metal and prevents "slinging". Perhaps it would stay longer on your tractor bits? Here is what I have: www.liquidwrench.com/product/chain-cable-lube/
    Thanks for the video, see ya round!

      I think Harbor Freight has that stuff as well. The silicone spray I used is that Liquid Wrench brand as well. Thanks for the link and the info. I might have to give it a try.
      Keep on tractoring and God bless.

    that back blade is a stupid way to plow snow. after you plow you are running over the snow you just plowed and risk getting stuck or compacting the snow into the ground. a really stupid concept if you ask me

      A RITTER BIT WILL DO no kidding. I'm waiting for him to post a video that's better! I grew up with using back blade and rear mount snow blower. as long as you have traction your good to go with a rear blade and can move lots of snow!
      in fact back in 07/08 the neighbors came over with their 4040 John Deere and a large back blade! I think bush hog brand. he opened up my driveway that was 1/4 mile long. our tractor was out of service. I believe it was close to 2 foot high of snow!
