For perspective this would be the expat lifestyle. Nice restaurants, cold storage for groceries etc. Kudos for taking public transport - private hire cars (Uber) would have added significantly to the daily spend. For locals the amount that was spent in a day is usually what my household spends in a week.
Try eating Singapore style food in US and it would be expensive as well. Having said that, the price coverage based on western diet is good for expats thinking of relocating to Singapore but continuing the western diet. For expats wishing to enjoy the lower cost of living in Singapore, you need to eat local, shop local, cook local. The same pretty much applies to anyone in any other country.
Very nice video. It is indeed a lot, but I guess its because of the eating out + groceries. We just moved 2 months ago, and we dont go out every day, but once or twice per week, usually on the weekends. And I could easily spend S$55 one day in groceries but it would be for a 2 days meal. Public transportation is sooo cheap which is great to keep you busy discovering the country and planning activities that are just not around the corner.
Amazing video! Thank you for giving me a peek into how different life is in Singapore. I sure hope to visit, study or even move there someday. Best regards from Denmark :)
Great stuff Jenn. For international viewers, it'll be cool if you could highlight what's the cost of stuff in the US? (in Singapore this costs X, but in the US it would be Y).
Great video, Happy Hapa. Looking forward to seeing your next upload from you. I smashed the thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the amazing work! Your breakdown of daily expenses in Singapore was really insightful. Given the high cost of living, how do you manage to find affordable dining options while still enjoying a variety of cuisines?
Thank you so much for your support! 🤗 I balance cooking at home with eating out and I find many restaurants have good deals for lunch (like the one I featured in this video!)
If this is really what you spend in a typical day, it seems like a lot. But I assume that you are not buying groceries or eating in a relatively expensive restaurant every day, so your average daily spend is probably lower. Going to a nice restaurant in Singapore has become quite expensive, so I typically only do this when I am travelling to Thailand or Bali, where it is a lot more affordable. For groceries, I have found that buying fruits and vegetables at NTUC Fairprice is much more affordable than buying these products in Cold Storage
What surprised you about how much I spent in a day? 💸

This is so helpful, I am actually flying into Singapore near that yoga studio and will take a class upon arrival!!

Thank you! I hope you get to visit at the very least. I also would love to go to Denmark one day!

That's a great suggestion :)
Prices would be very different based on where in the US you are comparing to.
