As a kid, I remember a procession of camper vans full of hippies coming down the lane, going 'shrooming ' in the fields behind our house. It was an annual event for them returning to the same fields. I remember it being Autumn time, but later than this - Oct/ Nov as I recall. As a child I used to see it as yet another cycle that played out each year; hazelnuts, acorns, conkers, shroomers....

We used to dry them out on top of LP covers. I have a Jethro tull album with the imprints of shrooms on it from back in the mid 80's. 'Got all nostalgic when I found it 10 or 11 years ago.

“Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up. This is the trick. This is what all these teachers and philosophers who really counted, who really touched the alchemical gold, this is what they understood. This is the shamanic dance in the waterfall. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering it's a feather bed.”

I'd recommend anyone who has never tried them to take a stroll up a west facing hill or mountainside in west wales and pick yourself 50. Give them a spell in the airing cupboard on some newspaper until they are crisp, grind them and put them in with your coffee grounds, put your feet up, with some music on and gently become one with all the atoms of the universe. Just make sure the dome of the mushroom has a small 'nipple' on the top, not a rounded dome.

We have a good field close to our house. If you flick the head of the mushroom a couple of times it releases any spores back into the ground. Also try to pick them without pulling the whole root out. This helps them to regenerate for the next time. Happy picking 😊😊😊

I use a food dehydrator on a low setting to dry out my mushies. I then use an old magic bullet food processor to powder them. Normally, I'll leave a teaspoon of mushie powder in a glass of lime juice overnight, this break down the psilocybin into psilocin. I then use a tea strainer to filter out the powder and drink the lime juice. I love the effects of psilocin, it's definitely a lot more visual and trippy.

We used to call it mushroom eye (walk around for ages not finding one, but when you did they were everywhere),usually you to get them late September through October until the first frost on unkept or unmown fields, we didn't use to pull the stems out instead cutting off the stem (leaving the roots)by pinching it between finger nails (if it's right the stem should go purple by the cut ----- helps as a check it's psilocybin), take them home, lay them out on paper to dry (and let the little larvae come out of them) will store then for a long period, then you can either eat them (tastes like a mouthful of dirt but it's not actually unpleasant or in food) or my favourite mushroom tea (100 shrooms in a small pot of tea --- Yorkshire tea n shrooms gives a very nice result).

Loved mushrooms back in the day once you’ve got over the dodgy stomach worse thing you can do is eat them as your picking them as you tend to forget how many you’ve taken HAPPY TIMES

you should be snipping the stem with your fingers, when you just pick them from the ground like that, they no longer grow/spawn hence the decline in where they can be found!

we used to get a huge pile , chuck em in a big pot with maybe some passionflower or something, pretty strong, lol the acid we used to get was fairly average generally so we used to overcompensate by throwing too many mushies in just to make sure we were all tripping properly, ...never fails ...lol ...ive seen a few people worry that they have had too much , but you can usually reasure them until it improves, lol fabulous memories.

Seriously: my old mate killed himself on mushsies, he jumped off a railway bridge into / onto an oncoming train. For myself, I found them unpleasant, preferred weed. They don't suit everyone, even in small does, we are all different with different brains, even more so these days I think.

When I was a teenager over here in N.Ireland tripping on magic mushrooms was a rite of passage. We were to young to buy hash (13-14). I was actually charged and convicted of possession of Psilocybin mushrooms. It was because they were dried and considered in a 'prepared state' . It was a big laugh for my mates, not so much me though. 'Had some great times on 'shrooms'.

    • @blahblahoink

I was picking in a field and along came a cop car. Copper walked over and said 'Ok where have you hid them?' I replied 'what these?' and pulled out the bag which gave him a shock right off. 'What are you going to do with them then?" he asked. "Go home and make tea with them" I said. And that was that. I knew they had to be 'prepared' like you mentioned to be illegal. Off he trundled and all was good in the land of Shroom. That was a good few years ago now though.
