A big thing that has always bothered me about star wars lore is that the battle droids aren't fireproof. Why wouldn't you fireproof your battle droids? Similar to why would you program them with a self preservation instinct and a fear response? I mean, you can write off blunders like the republic not using EMPs and the separatists not using biological warfare as Palpatine deliberately keeping both sides from exploiting each other's major weaknesses to drag the war out long enough to destroy the Jedi, but it's not like he designed it programmed the battle droids. Those are just poorly designed machines.
They have that very basic AI because after the battle of naboo they realised that having all their droids connected to a single command ship was a huge weakness but they also needed to keep them cheap and easy to mass produce, also in lore they are fireproof this is just for gameplay.
@@1.-ulysses334 But they're not. In RotS R2 takes out two B2 droids near the start by setting the oil slick they're standing in on fire, and throughout the Clone Wars series droids fall to fire constantly. I think the game is also considered canon, anyway.

And the game IS cannon but not everything that happens in the gameplay sections is lore accurate and some things are changed for a better gameplay like how you don't kill everything in 1 hit or how blaster enemies also don't kill you in 1 hit.
Much of this can have very simple explanations based on economics and the balance of protection versus weight, cost-efficacy, and resource needs. B1s are the ultimate in a threat built on numerical superiority; they are designed purely to be a threat in a strategic sense, just dangerous enough to force the enemy to have to deploy valuable, large-scale forces to hold them off. They're not MEANT to be highly versatile, and are designed by a faction with immense industrial and economic capacity but limited manpower; they are grunt forces able to use an infantry small-arm with tolerable skill in large numbers, a deadly threat when the other side effectively had NO large scale forces to match that. Something that's poor quality but present is better to have than absolutely nothing at all. Who cares if the B1s are particularly resilient when your enemy has, at most, lightly armed police/anti-piracy security forces with no solutions for armored battle tanks, proper naval warships in numbers, and hundreds of infantry? The B1s were a simply brilliant concept when considering the foe they'd be dealing with for at least a year or so before any kind of organized Republic Army was formed. Next; making things 'fire-proof' is a VERY subjective, situational issue; how much fire-resistant material do you put in? What kinds of temperatures are you dealing with? How long must it resist the fire, and at what temperatures? Could the inclusion of fire-retardant chemicals or structures be easily defeated by, say, a quick spray of water, or is it rendered useless in vacuum conditions or in certain atmospheres? Extra armoring against nearly any threat has a constantly rising issue of weight/bulk against mobility/fitness for its job. B1s are relatively resistant to zero-g/vacuum, which is a HUGE advantage over biological/human troops, and have physical strength relatively on-par with humans. Most situations that would kill a human outright will likely kill any comparable robot as well, or damage it enough to render it inoperative regardless of survival, so who cares at that point? Fire-retardant chemicals/systems might very well introduce their own weaknesses to the system that would need to be compensated for, at greater expense and with greater production time requirements while possibly reducing the number of factories that could effectively and efficiently produce more impressively engineered mass-combat grunt droids. EMPs weren't used because they're not 'beam guns' of disruption; the use of EMPs and Ion weaponry would be equally dangerous to Republic and CIS formations, as they'd certainly disrupt electronics used by both sides, easily resulting in your normal infantry weapons being shut off as they literally have integrated circuits/computers to regulate and even use the plasma/laser weaponry that is THE standard of infantry combat in the setting. Tanks and aircraft would be shut off/severely damaged, and the act of using an EMP is difficult, requiring major expenditures of power in very specific ways. Sufficiently powerful EMPs can also be unpleasant to and even outright lethal to humans, disrupting our nervous systems in temporary or even permanent, lethal ways that cannot be armored against without making a kind of protective system that would be prohibitively expensive/be vulnerable to more conventional weapons, so likely the CIS figured that the Republic would never use such systems extensively. Ion weapons, of course, were a solid answer against Droids, but Ion Weaponry is mostly disruptive, ineffective against normal biological troops, and at the time was VERY uncommon and difficult to use at the infantry level. Even by later Expanded Universe timelines Ion Weapons were the province of highly specialized units facing VERY specific threats, and when a heavy repeating blaster or anti-tank man-portable blaster cannon could achieve most of the same results in MAKING THE BIG METAL THING DIE, there just wasn't much of a demand for such systems given that blaster rifles were more versatile, effective, and useful against ALL threats. Thus, I argue that B1s from a true war perspective were actually quite brilliant; you didn't NEED them to be particularly good, just reliable enough and numerous enough to threaten planets and take ground, which they did reasonably well given only basic combat orders. They were sub-par but cheap, easy to maintain, able to handle basic squad tactics without higher guidance, and able to threaten a galactic power with cost-efficient results. When you're dealing with war on such a massive scale, who honestly cares about their individual performance beyond considering how to improve them in small, easily adapted and economically sustainable ways from that point forward? This is, of course, ignoring how the Emperor deliberately set up the CIS to fail.
@@jakzine540b1 is essentially anti-police/civilian droid. While it is certainly not dangerous enough for the regular clone army, it is insanely dangerous for regular unarmed humans and worked perfectly as a cheap, expendable and very effective holding unit on many undefended planets.

This is not really fair, since those grenades gamble the fight. Just by one of them, could decide who of both wins. And I’m sure if you try doing the same combat 10 times, all of them would be different.
Only special grenadier droids seemed to be able to use grenades. Even so, either the B1s are too strong or the Imperial Stormtroopers are too weak in this game.
They recycled the imperial enemies from the first game, the stormtroopers there were basically a filler enemy, 1hp and very little damage made to make the Game more cinematic, IMO they should have been buffed or entirely replaced by the stormtrooper commander given how they perform worse than the B1 Who are supossed to be a lot worse than them

I'm always bothered by the effective range of flame throwers in games. IRL, you can toast anything at 75 meters.
really shows the quality of soldiers that the clones were, those b1 droids are SUPPOSED to be obsolete: yet even in a partial state of disrepair they give most of the imperial forces a very hard time. good for those lil guys~
@1:47 and that there kids is why you don't bring a knife to a gun fight
Nice!
How do you think droidekas will hold up?
Troll 100
В нормальной, реалистичной симуляции, не зацикленной на балансе игровых сил, дроидов отстреливали бы на изи. Они очень плохо целятся, не могут швырять гранаты, и в отличии от штурмовиков не имеют вообще никакой брони.
What's the name of the music you used? Great Video! Love me some B1s!
It is Starship troopers extermination soundtrack
@@asteroid3062 Thank you! Again love the vid!
Just when I thought stormtroopers couldn't get any more useless.
This is not really fair, since those grenades gamble the fight. Just by one of them, could decide who of both wins. And I’m sure if you try doing the same combat 10 times, all of them would be different.
Same thing happens in the stupid holotactics minigame you can play as well. Most of the time the outcome is down to grenade luck
Boom baby.
heavy assault trooper gatling gun vs all droids?
B2! B2! B2!
The empires stormtroopers is worse than the mass produced, cheaper, and outdated b1 battle droids. RIP.
Only special grenadier droids seemed to be able to use grenades. Even so, either the B1s are too strong or the Imperial Stormtroopers are too weak in this game.
They recycled the imperial enemies from the first game, the stormtroopers there were basically a filler enemy, 1hp and very little damage made to make the Game more cinematic, IMO they should have been buffed or entirely replaced by the stormtrooper commander given how they perform worse than the B1 Who are supossed to be a lot worse than them
How do you make them fight eachother? Like what mod do you use or is there a in game option I haven’t found
It is a pay mod on patreon
