    TRP, Around 3:42-3:46 you show a close up and states this " Taper towards the compression nut " Problem for me is that I can't tell the difference between either end of the olive because both ends are tapered ?

      @@JoshuaHartmann-k2nhahah I remember scratching my head here before. Im pretty sure the mechanic is just stating what you always do when installing an olive on all brakes. The tapered side goes towards the nut, not the lever. Some olives only have one tapered side.
      Im putting my dhrs back on my levo and always resort to this video.

    I bought TRP DHR-EVO. Cody was awesome with the few questions I had. Watched this video and had zero issues putting it all together. No brake drag, easiest caliper to rotor adjustment I have ever dealt with, power damn near out of the box is phenomenal (not sure if they really need a bed in process?). Rode over at Gateway Green tonight to test them out! Great job TRP. I am compiling products I won't ride w/o. TRP and DVO are two of my absolute favorites.

      see i dont understand "easiest caliper to rotor adjustment" I've had 3 lots of DH-R evo, Brake rub, all the time, center it, perfect in garage, after 5mins... one side has pushed out heaps and left the pad against rotor...
      These brakes have been stressful - all 3 sets....

      @@MrSupermugen Here is a teick to get you back in the game. Kind of start over if you will to get the best out of those DHR-EVO. Push each piston out one at a time, clean with a bit of TRP mineral oil, repeat process a couple of times. When you go to push them back in, leave them a little proud instead of pushing each one back flush -or- as far as they will push back into the housing. From there I ground a bleed block a little thinner. Excercise the pistons a few times back and forth. A couple times in you will see them all moving and retracting in time. Put your wheel back in, center the caliper and ypu shouldnbe good to go. My last comment was a year ago w/ a pair of DHR-EVO and a set of T4 Slate on a hardtail and they still perfrom perfectly. Once in a while I surface or replace pads and clean the caliper/pistons/rotors just because I feel that preventative maintenance keeps away from trail catastrophies.

      @bruce berry but i dont understand why its happend to all 3 from new... its ridiculous... ive never had issues with brake setup except for these darn things.
      I had a ride the other day for 30mins where they actually performed awesome but by the end of ride the lever was feeling iffy as it had become one sided again.
      Ive worked and lubed the hell out of these things Over an over...
      3 darn sets.. i also had a set this time last year and it did the same but after some fiddling back then i just sold them and the guy i sold them to whinged about them aswell.
      It frustrates me as im pretty good with bike stuff and understanding but these things are making me wamt to go back to shimano xts and just live with the easy life of them

    Cleanest install I've seen with using basic commen sense and explaining the highest point in detail, it really makes people like me notice simple steps that I may not of thought of. I am not a mechanic I work with Money and computers. So This basic stuff is all new to me. I used to ride a Motorcycle but a bad turn in myhealth made me sell. I bought an EMTB and found a new sport I love. But I needed some quality brakes finally installing the new TRP DH-R EVO tomorrow, but I do have some concerns, mostly the 40mm Postmount for my front fork to put a 220 rotor on, is missing the rubber/plastic spacer, Which seems odd. But that's all. Also I hope I have the right Bleed Block as it says I need two pieces but every video they use one and its yellow bleed and mine is black. I ordered directly from TRP.

    What fitting was used to bleed the lever on these Slates? Your TRP funnel says that is fits everything but the Slates and that you offer a "Slate Bleed fitting adapter" but for the life of me I can not find it anywhere.... better luck finding a leprechaun riding a unicorn. Can you please tell me the thread pitch of the Slate EVO lever's bleed port??

    Can the lever purge be done with a bleed cup or does it have to be a hose.

    • @TRPcomponents
      @TRPcomponents  4 місяці тому

      It can be done with either, the hose just helps you see the air bubbles a little easier.

    I'm looking to upgrade my SRAM DB8's would I be able to use the existing rear hose vs. re-routing a new hose through the frame? It's a full suspension ebike and on my model it will likely mean a full disassembly pulling the motor and battery (Orbea Wild)

    • @TRPcomponents
      @TRPcomponents  2 місяці тому +1

      You'll need to use our hose with the brake for the best performance. SRAM also has different fitting sizes that are not compatible.

    Great video. How will I know if I will need to do the lever purge or not?

    • @TRPcomponents
      @TRPcomponents  4 роки тому +1

      If you feel some slight sponginess or a tougher pull on the lever, then it is likely a lever purge will sort it. Honestly, there is never a bad time for a lever purge as it ensures your brakes are working perfectly every time you pull that lever.

    I am gettin dh-r evo, xan i use a shimano mineral oil and cup?

    • @TRPcomponents
      @TRPcomponents  3 роки тому

      Shimano will have a different thread size on their lever bleed ports so unfortunately you cannot use their bleed cup. We do offer a bleed cup of our own which can be found here: trpcycling.com/product/trp-bleed-funnel/ We also do not recommend using Shimano mineral oil as it can clog our timing ports and make the brakes feel quite unresponsive. We suggest using only Tektro and TRP Mineral oil.
