Cooking Tips -- How to Boil Chicken

  • Watch as Better Homes and Gardens shows you how to boil chicken! To start boiling chicken, place chicken pieces in a large saucepan. Choose what cooking liquid you want to use. You can use water, broth, wine, juice, or any combination of the four. You can also add herbs, vegetable slices, or citrus to amp up the flavor. Pour your liquid over the chicken. Bring liquid to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and cover. Let the chicken simmer until it is no longer pink and reaches 170 degrees. Remove chicken from the saucepan.     Just got back from the vet and the dog needs boiled chicken.
    I never boiled chicken before.

      I know that this comment was a year ago. I'm having to do the same thing for my old foxy Chihuahua dog. One thing is you must know don't put anything in but water for dogs not even salt or an especially nothing with onion. Some dogs can take herbs but I'd be very careful about which herbs to put in. It's definitely not the same as doing it for human.

    *Drano works better then water for this! it has a lower boiling point then water and it improves the texture and natural flavour.

      Keep a separate cutting board for raw meats. I also keep glass Pyrex and label them for raw or cooked meats. I don't have a dishwasher, so I use bleach/water to wash out raw meat pans, boards, and other implements. If you're making salad, cut all the veg first and put the salad away in the fridge before bringing out the raw meats.

      It depends on what doneness youre going for , i usually leave my meats cooking for hours if i want them to fall appart , if u want them a bit tougther then cook until it reaches 165 f

      It was boiled in apple cider and chicken broth along with herbs. Chicken broth has a good amount of sodium in it, but you could always season to taste afterwards as well.

    I boil my chicken with water and add alot of seasoning but it still smell like a fresh dead chicken but I'm gonna try boiling it with juice liquids maybe that will work
