I agree that it´s a good pick up in case you already have a bunch of coal ships or if you need a good captain trainer. That is something you can´t do in the Petro. Plus the HE on the Moskva is better that on the Petro.
I just always play moskva with range mod and set myself up on the flank. You take a small hit to your dpm over leg mod, but it's hard to root out a moskva that's 22km away with either full island cover or plenty of open water to maneuver in. The shell velocity is great for that kind of playstyle where the enemy team either has to deal with you or give you a near 300k game from how much you just pester them with constant fires and punish broadsides with AP. Moskva can still cit some heavy cruisers from near max range, so it's just a nightmare to deal with when you're launching support salvos from the other end of the map.
@@davidpotts7116 yep, a nightmare to deal with in ranked. Prefer to have a petro on the enemy team any day of the week instead of a Moskva. It was a very hard ship for me to learn, my first t10. I have a ton of t10s now and this is still one of my favorite. She’s hard to play but I can say that she’s extremely reliable and you can have serious battle impact. That AP has some insane pen and the accuracy is just so good. That radar is super powerful, that combined with laser beam guns and good reload lets you dumpster DDs. Moskva can be a powerful ship and most importantly the guns will never troll you
Moskva definitely seems like it thrives in clan battles/ranked where it can put its strong radar to use and reduce the number of angles it needs to worry about. That being said, seeing 3 of these things stare you down as a DD player in a clan battle is not a good time.
Moskva used to be a tech tree tier 10, succeeding Dmitry donskoi before cruiser line split to Nevsky and Petro....still loving that ship as I helm her like classic BB gameplay. Had her way before the split happened.
Moskva has tremendous utility in Clan Battles. It has better DPM than the Petro and has a better Legmod. Moskva can fire at 20+ KM accurately. Petro has better AP, but Moskva has much better HE and better DPM. Moskva has the 30 second 12km radar. Moskva is still in the Clan Battles meta. Our clan ran a Petro and Moskva most of the clan season.
i just got moskva today... then, i get the notification from youtube regarding this video. but it's ok, i mainly got it because i had the Aurora perma camo waiting for it :) and i don't do much pvp anyway. so far i love it in asym.
The Moskva is basically a giant anti-materiel rifle. It can snipe targets with extremely reliable precision, can relocate quickly, but is *very* fragile (like a sniper) if anything catches your broadsides and can be spotted from the moon if you start shooting. She is extremely difficult to master compared to the brainless way to play Petro (at least pre-nerf, where you just bow in to everything) but if you can get her to work, she can pull off some amazing games.
Moskva is great, but difficult to use. Its has several downsides, and they just happen to fit each other in one nasty combo - huge citadel, shit concealment, GARGANTUAN turning radius and radar. First three wouldnt be a problem if Moskva kept distance and played kiting at a distance, but presence of radar dictates her to be up close to objective, which just makes it a hit or miss, depending on your teammates. You can have a great game where you delete their dd at cap, tank some damage and push on with your team. Or you die in flames while being focused, as your teammates bail the f out of flank, and you cant because your are too big and clumsy to do so without getting deleted. Very obvious advantages and disadvantages, a well balanced ship, imo.
Moskva has a great anti DD radar; 4 salvos with 12km range. She has good range and good arcs. Play her like Bourgogne; flanking ship and DD hunter in the last part of game. See results.
Moskva is not that bad, it’s a tank. Find an island to protect your citadel and you can eat a lot of damage in the bow. Impossible to citadel in the bow( not for Yamy and Shiki).Later in the game when there is no chance to get hit broadside, you can bow in on BBs and laugh at them. By the time they realise they can’t kill you is too late, with 10 sec reload you kill them. Difficult to get in a good position early in the game, they can see you from the moon, but once you get there you are fine. Park between 2 caps and help your DDs with loooong radar. Later in the game you can be very aggressive. Very easy te get a Dreadnought, too bad there is no reward for achievements anymore. My Salem with its super heal feels like a cheap toy compared to my Moskva. I like it and I will keep playing it.
Not denying my preference for Petro, but I'm taking issue with the UU equipped with Moskva, especially compared to Yoshi. IMO Long radar, faster reload rate, thicker deck armor and better fire chance make this a really solid choice. In comp, it's better that Yoshi or Stalin.
Moskva thrives in small competitive scenarios (like clan battles, ofc) but it's really great in T10 ranked as well, for the same reasons it's good in cbs. it's annoying to get out if it's stuck in a good spot or kiting, the guns are hilariously good, and the radar is the best soviet radar at t10. as much as 'petro is better' moskva still has it's place in the game.
I've almost got Petro ! cant wait. I got the Napoli for my last coal ship and I love it ! If Moskva got one buff i think it could use a better concealment buff and possible the Cit a little lower in the water.
I don't see the comparison with Petro at all, at least not with leg mod Moskva. Moskva wants to play at range, she has the AP to make that work (although no improved pen angles) and great HE. Petro sucks at ranges over 12km or so, unless you also take leg mod, which takes away a heal and more, and you still have horrible vertical dispersion at range. Moskva is an insane sniper, very accurate and superfast shells, and can do damage to broadside BB's at range with her AP. So to me, they don't compare well. I do love Petro as well, they're just very different ships.

Saw the title of the vid, & I thought to myself: "But I have the Petro..."
Watches video
That said, it's actually more an indictment on how unbalanced Petro is & the state of WoW 2024. There is a reason why Petro is banned in competitive
hi i am your fan
Only Fan!
I thought Petro had really bad HE?
This ship should get a buff to its detectability. The best detect of 14.1 sucks ass.
Full AP Zao, the Assassin, the Ninja, the Nightmare of any broadside must be shown!
Not even BBs are save, if you are close enough.
the damn zao always lights me on fire
@@bradleecaldor6567Trust me better than showing your Broadside to it , only when 15km+ you wont eat that pen or cit dmg.
No Carrier No Cry.
Hello 👋
Yes
The guns are much more accurate - big difference. I much prefer Moskva. They have very different playstyles.
moskva is fantastic ... if you cant make it work -> skill issue ... comparing it to petro makes no sense when moskva shares the tasks with nevsky
St Vincent secondary
👏👏👏
I will never play a Russian ship!! German however.. its been enough time right?
for the average joe playing wows that doesnt play Clan wars dont get a Moskva. Just get a Petro
the most thing i hate on this ship is meeting the high calibers, always get citadel from the bowl
I get Moskva for free when was not coal ship 😂 🎉
im a player, that prefers to play a worse ship, as it's challenge, unlike most of these streamers who just wanna play broken sh1t.
day 5 of asking PQ to play San Diego in Ranked
Day 35 waiting for Patrie secondary build.
no french BB are worth it, the acurracy is terrible right
@@bradleecaldor6567and also pen is atrocious
And the pen @@bradleecaldor6567
@@bradleecaldor6567with a 1 second reload you don’t need accuracy, I’ve regularly gotten over 1,000 secondary hits with Patrie, and over 100k damage out of them with IFHE so they all pen superstructure
@@bradleecaldor6567 its about the fun factor B)
Is this even a question?
Day 2 asking for de grease he only
Moskva should be in a poorly maintained state in game like her real life modern namesake. (Don't hate me for a dark joke.)
It's not a fair comparison in Blitz as the roles are reversed. Petro is trash in blitz and Moskva is best cruiser in the game.
Day 14 of asking PQ to play on Helena
The worst Soviet cruisers are still better than most nation's best cruisers.
Day 15 of asking to take another look at Paolo Emilio.
Day 47 of asking for agincourt
Day 20 of asking for some Amagi greatness ;(

I think you need to re narrate this and pretend What if petro didnt exist... every other word is petro...
