I just purchased this Autumn copy a few days ago. I've done one so far & funny I made Mouse grey like you on the mushroom picture, when I normally do him brown. Matchstick Mouse is definitely one of my absolute favourite series of books to colour in. Every picture is a joy.

Great going finishing and with limited palettes! :) I believe the "harmonica" is Matchstick Mouse's matchbook/box for striking the matches (?) Thanks for the clue about the really green page with conkers - I was stumped could not see the wood for the trees ;)

I use a lot of brown as well. The shade I'm always wishing for is a true neutral beige or tan. The lighter version of a color like Bistre from Poly. Even Prisma which has several colors that seem like they would work, they are all either very yellow or very pink.
I have tried a Holbein Cork and it is a little closer to what I want.
@@RachelHendersonColouring I'll dig through my pasteltint and macarons, they are both dupes for the holbien pastels.
You did a lovely job, congrats on finishing the book. These are my favorite books I own at the moment.. and I have a bunch of the most popular books ever printed so that is saying a lot for Mr. O'Brian. I like the size, the format, and how versatile they are.. everything works nicely, the paper is great. I do one or two then go do something else to kind of make them last longer, because I could easily just blow through the entire book in a week or two. My only wish is that there was a teeny bit less mouse.. which seems counterproductive since it's her book series but I do get a bit worn out coloring her over and over. Maybe it's just that she's so large in so many of the pages. I really like the ones where she's wearing a different outfit or doing something like riding in a boat or peeking out around a tree.

I just watched this again while following along with my pages. Looking at my colored pages and my, I've gotten into a rut!!! It's an Autumn book but, I didn't use many fall colors. Sigh
