Hi, I saw in your last video that you are planning to go back to China next month? I would love to see a video explaining your process of applying for the exemption and the visa, thank you.
I have loved joining Blondie on these food tour experiences. I can honestly say there are few things that I disliked and so much more I really really enjoyed. I will miss her so much now she is returning to China and already can’t wait until I can travel there to see her.
You don't have to like everything, but it's great that you and Mum are willing to try everything. I cannot wait to see the Blondie Family making videos together in China!
If you go further south, at the countries like Malaysia and Singapore. They actually do like what your dad says, they dip the YouTiao into hot black coffee instead.
Actually there are many different ways to eat youtiao in different parts of China. Dip youtiao into tofu soup,or place the youtiao between rice cakes or pancakes(蒸饭,煎饼,米饭饼),etc. That's just in my city, east of China.
Exactly! Malaysia and Singapore is a good example of melting pot of food between east and west... We dip youtiao into the coffee! Especially the black coffee, our elderly love that!
Amy your dad got it perfectly spot on when he said that congee is equivalent to the chicken soup you get when you're under the weather! A lot of Chinese Indonesian families that I know have congee as the go-to-food for those sick days (of course not only limited to sick days)
Your parents are lovely - so gracious and open minded. I've heard Aussies are good travellers and clearly your family is no exception :). Love that shot of your Dad rubbing his happy stomach! Lol. Would love to see more videos with parents.
Thank you for taking the time to make subs in Chinese. It is really helpful to us who are trying to learn and it also gives a lot more reason to come back to the videos to see and hear how certain words are used in real life scenarios! And of course, your dad is awesome!
While I'm happy you'll soon go to China once again, I'll miss those videos with you and your family. They've become an integral part of your channel. The humorous interactions made those videos a lot of fun.
Your dad surprised me. He’s the first person I know who’s able to connect congee with sick food in his first try and comes up with that brilliant idea to put congee in a coffee cup for take away. He doesn’t talk often but when he does he comments on things precisely and on point, that comes only from people who have a certain level of int with such a open mind... plus he looks good. My suggestion, don’t ever try to dig his past about his popularities when he was young.
He also had the right idea to dip the youtiao in the changfen soy sauce. Theres actually a cantonese dish which is exactly that, a fried youtiao wrapped in the changfen topped off with sweet soy sauce.
I like what your dad said about the congee reminding him of soup his mum made when he was sick! My mum's go to food for me when I was sick was her homemade congee :)
I'm so happy for you that you're going back to China! Your Sydney videos have really given me an appreciation for at least the Chinese food scene in the city. Going to miss those, but looking forward to your China videos.
So the tea eggs are basically you boil the eggs upfront with tap water and crack them up without opening them and then slow cook them with tea leafs, dark soy sauce, soy sauce, few spicies for like 12 hours...it's really tasty especially with that special fragrance.
Fun fact: It is said that churros was inspired by the chinese Youtiao by sea fairing Portuguese merchants who brought the idea back from Ming dynasty china and it slowly developed in churros in Spain.
In the south, a pineapple bun with hot milk tea or coffee is a popular breakfast. Also there are many fusion foods such as macaroni soup with spam or ham or chicken, or rice vermicelli soup with pork.
So glad to learn about your upcoming trip to China. Wish I could be in China one day! Other than the foods in China, I enjoy the friendship over there more! You have been training your parents well, when they come to visit you in China, they would feel comfortable with their surroundings.
Glad you came to my suburb, Eastwood to sample Chinese cuisine, Amy. Eastwood has changed a lot since I moved in in the early 1990's from a boutique suburb with toy stores, haberdasheries, a camping store, a hardware store, music stores, Maccas & KFC to what is it now; mainly Chinese restaurants one side of the railway line to Korean cuisine on the other side. It's an Asian food mecca, you won't starve in Eastwood..as long as you have money. LOL Your enthusiasm for Chinese cuisine is infectious and thanks showing off Eastwood. :) Keep the videos coming and avagoodday!

This family is clearly comfortable eating different kinds of foods and gain experiences that it's hard if they don't like it. They have this diplomatic heir about them. Hi Blondie, how do you get your visa to China? I have an Australian passport and have been trying to go to China since last year! It will be great if you can tell me WHAT VISA YOU APPLIED FOR and WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF GETTING IT?
I totally agree. I grew up eating chang fen in Guangzhou, so I prefer the haphazard street version, which seems to be more tasty, than the restaurant more orderly but thicker skin version. Somehow Cantonese rice porridge is cooked for a longer time, so it’s easier to digestion, whereas the northern version of xi fan 稀饭, is more like a watery rice version. Congee is for people who are sick and need easier digestion as it’s very thoroughly cooked. Thanks for so positively introducing the Chinese culture to the world.
Omg I’m obsessed with your food adventures. I’m Chinese and love the way you explain Chinese food and culture. Wish I can go back to try all these tummy food. Hope more people will start to try different Chinese food because they are freaking delicious!!!!!

Good to see you spending quality times with your parents, stay safe n healthy always..
Dad is like me. Soya sauce enhances food with umami flavour.
You and your family are very adventurous and open minded ....always ready to try everything new....
Aint a good idea to watch this at 2am... it makes me damn hungry🤨
Me too,
I totally agree.
没有比这更好的消息了~恭喜!
Such a lovely family, open minded and positive!
When Amy said "I'm not really a big egg girl", and I'm listening to her speaking Mandarin be like ... >_>

Hello from Melbourne! Omg I just stumbled upon your channel and I’m in such awe!! I wish I learned more Chinese growing up (I’m from Malaysia but english was my first language at home) and I’ve suddenly had inspiration from all the Chinese tv shows I’ve been watching since COVID to try and practice more and you’ve also inspired me!! Do you have a video about how you got into learning Chinese? I’d love to know what’s inspired you. 🙌🏻

You also can dip the You Tiao with chinese black coffee (that already added with sugar) too and with all kind of porridges. The You Tiao over here is straigh not twiced. Chinese also Yam Cha with Dim Sum but only once while or during weekend. Normally eat noodles... But majority modern chinese family eat bread, oats, with milk or chocolate drinks for breakfast.
