    Really well done Luke! That's fantastic. You've covered all the important points in this build, with really good tips along the way. As a mechanical engineer who has had lots of trials and errors making my own foil, I give you a gold star! Now, when are you going to show us how you made that nice board? Enjoy your time there. I'm a bit envious of that warm lagoon. - Paul in Ontario.

      Thanks Paul! I appreciate the comments mate and yeah, so good to be back in the summer! We where in BC for the start of Dec so a welcomed change!
      And yeah mate for sure! I am planning on making a series for how to build the foil board. Likely when it warms up in Canada. :)

    I just want to let you know that I watched all fifteen of your videos and I was extremely motivated. I've been windsurfing for sometime and have looked at purchasing a foil set up but they are so expensive. I checked your website out and watched all your videos and I built my own.. I think you did an exceptional job explaining everything. As you spoke in a few of your videos to build for what you're looking to do. I built mine larger so I can downwind or do lightwind windsurfing in my area. I can't wait to try it out. Thanks for all your information. I look forward to more hydrofoil DIY builds. I've built all my windsurf boards myself. I'm currently building a downwind, windsurf/ foilboard that can do all of it. Again awesome content keep it up.

    Great series Luke. Just finished building two sets of wings. One set per your design and the second set I added 20% area to the front wing and 10% to the rear wing. Simply scaled the plans up by those percentages. Next is to build the aluminum fuselage. Hope you get stock in soon for the mast and base. Then to build a board…. Gotta get ready for some boat trials this summer 2023.

      Hey Mark! Amazing! Happy to hear it and thanks for letting us know :) Keep us updated on the build! Email me some pictures of it when you have a chance! I'd be stoked to see it. Also I see you purchased a mast too so that's great, i'll get it in the post for you ASAP.

    That looks awesome! Thank you for the detailed plans. Gotta try to build one myself. I have been thinking about trying hydrofoil for quite some time now. What was stopping me - the full set is quite expensive.

    Hi, excellent video tutorials, I have watched them all. I am interested in making my own surf-foil but I have some doubts. I have seen that most of them have the front wing down with respect to the stabilizer that is normally above, I would like to know if this is really important since the one you make is inverted and for my discipline is very important the pumping. You could help me a lot by answering

      Glad you like them! Yes you can change the orientation of how they attach, however it just takes some extra shaping to get a flat side of side of the Fuse to attach to the curve of the wing. it doesn't make much difference to me, but there ay be some benefits that im not sure about., i know some of the local guys prefer the stabliser on the top as it helps protect the wing form hitting the bottom, as the fuse takes some of the impact, but other than that i really dont know how much of a difference it makes,. far more important would be wing size and shape, and fuse length. Hope that helps and let me know how the build goes!

    I would love to show you pictures of what I built. I also used your 1in by 1in aluminum idea. I agree with it being a little more stiffer since I'm a rather heavy guy, 110kg.

    Hello Luke I was wondering if I were to scale everything 25 percent would I also need to scale the fuselage?

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  Місяць тому

      Hey! If you use the 25x25 the alloy will be strong enough but the weak point is the screw connections. the bigger the wing the more lateral load will be applied to the screws and may bend them. So you could think about how to strengthen that area :)

    Hi Luke. Is it possible use this foil with a wing Sail board? There are any diference? Needs be larger?

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  2 місяці тому

      Hey yeah exactly, you can just size the wing based on your needs. with this design there are some limitations with the connection point on the fuse being a weak point if you go too big with the front wing... but you could do 1.5X fine, or reinforce those connection points. :)
