It was written for her by Brandon Stone, a great composer (and singer and keyboard player) who had seen performances by her on Russian TV and been amazed by her. They have worked together very closely and hugely productively ever since. He wrote for her the joyously celebratory song "Side by Side" that I mentioned before, and they perform it together in duet. I'm happy that I live with her at the same time in this crazy world Over my 70 years, I have heard a lot of singers, soloists and musical groups, I have never heard anything like this. I always loved music; the melodies, rhythms, structure of the songs, build ups - drop downs, etc.. (lyrics never bothered me as i understood nothing of english songs). However, i have never been a fanboy of any band or singer. But! This beautiful soul young lady stole my heart. Her higher register effects on me the way i never experienced, i never even knew it's possible at all. We talk about voice and emotions, yet, it seem like there is physical connection between them, because her certain voice literally takes the control over my emotions. All the time. Anytime, anywhere i hear it, im just helpless against it. + her storyteller/acting abilities... even though i understand nothing of the russian lyrics, even though I know she acts, yet, i believe/feel/mirror all her expression and i'm just lost in the moment. It's an over 300 year old folk song about a Cossack warrior who dreams of his death in an imminent battle. On Diana's face you see sadness, anxiety and pain of the soul of the Cossack warrior. One would swear she borrowed that soul to perform the song. I'm not sure how many people appreciate the emotional gasps she produces here that absolutely melt me.

One of my favorites by her is from the "Show Mask Go On" entitled "Oh' It's Not Yet Evening" ua-cam.com/video/cfTiQkJrLi0/v-deo.html. It's an over 300 year old folk song about a Cossack warrior who dreams of his death in an imminent battle. On Diana's face you see sadness, anxiety and pain of the soul of the Cossack warrior. One would swear she borrowed that soul to perform the song.
I'm not sure how many people appreciate the emotional gasps she produces here that absolutely melt me.
I have done it. It was spectacular. Unfortunately, UA-cam blocked it. I have it saved in my files.🙌

It's so funny that you see the song as her talking about "what is the motherland." She recently released a video by that same name. It includes her adoptive family. I have come to believe that when she sings of her Motherland, which she has done with several songs, she is motivated by her family and interaction with the land itself, even when it brings remembrance of war and those who fought for it, as did her adoptive Grandfather. One of her prettiest videos is of sand painter Alexandra Yerpylyova doing Diana's tough background and the love she found through her new Mother:
