To you, perhaps, “undoubtedly.” Not to me, not to everyone, *JUST TO YOU!* I get so tired-right to my bones-of people making such grandiose announcements when they’re being _entirely subjective!_ Pollini was a *great pianist,* of that there’s no doubt whatsoever, but just because _he is YOUR favorite pianist, _*_it does not therefore automatically follow that he is THE BEST at interpreting Beethoven!!_* It is not at all as axiomatic as you think it is, this belief, and yet so many are happy to believe it! And I think it is such a weird way to listen to great artists play great music, because it presupposes that when one has such a favorite, that one listens to others only to find flaws instead of appreciating their immense achievements….when pianists reach such a pinnacle, I feel nothing but joy to hear the culmination of their arduous personal journey to hone their skills to such a degree-and others listen and think, “Well, it’s good, but it is not [add name here]”!! Such reductive feeling is beyond me. And nobody has the right to pronounce for everybody….that is why the words, “in my opinion,” have developed in every single language on earth.
@@voraciousreader3341 Pour enfoncer les "portes ouvertes" vous êtes vraiment très fort...To break open doors you seem very strong...In addition I have never said that Pollini is my favorite pianist !!
Mamma mia.
THANK YOU for uploading all these wonderful live recitals by Maestro Pollini. Greatly appreciated by those of us who love the late Meastro. I have all his studio recordings - and I've come to the conclusion that he was even better live than he was in the DG studio.
Op90: at 1:15:00. He employs a passionate accelerando with some short series of rubati that is certainly original and at least here, refutes the view Pollini is boring or uninteresting or lacks passion. The last 10 seconds IMO, he handles the accelerando, and sudden return to the main tempo much more convincing than I think any other version I've heard. He seems to have this little masterpiece all to himself.
Thank you so so much. It is unbelievably beautiful and moving to have these recordings of Pollini live and at his best - combining sovereign technique, noble directness of style, and an almost frightening intensity of feeling and thought.
I am continually amazed by the greatness of the maestro Pollini every day. Thank you!

Can I ask you where did you get the thumbnail picture? I’d like to use it as well 😊
To be honnest, I don't remember
All I can do is to use it as main image in an other upload, so you can make a screenshot
@@JohannesB100 yes, I’d be very happy about that, because it’s a beautiful one🙂
