Thank you. Memories, memories, of happy childhood days ... Best wishes from George. PS: Some of these songs I used to sing to myself while riding a bike. People must have thought I was mad. I was simply singing along to the record playing in my head, which is something I learned to do very young. Once I taught myself to read symphonic scores, I would read and fully imagine whole Schubert, Haydn or Beethoven Symphonies without the imperfections of replay! Oddly I would read and internally hear the music faster than it could be played. Say half an hour for the Great C Major Symphony, and I really was in another world, but it never seemed scrambled while imagining a performance from a score. Sorry to ramble. I did miss my vocation in life, but music, in its many styles, is still the reason for me to keep right on to the end of the road. Thanks.
Wrote in memory of his son, killed in the Battle of the Somme 1916 Ev'ry road thro' life is a long, long road, Fill'd with joys and sorrows too, As you journey on how your heart will yearn For the things most dear to you. With wealth and love 'tis so, But onward we must go. Keep right on to the end of the road, Keep right on to the end, Tho' the way be long, let your heart be strong, Keep right on round the bend. Tho' you're tired and weary still journey on, Till you come to your happy abode, Where all the love you've been dreaming of Will be there at the end of the road. With a big stout heart to a long steep hill, We may get there with a smile, With a good kind thought and an end in view, We may cut short many a mile. So let courage ev'ry day Be your guiding star alway. Keep right on to the end of the road, Keep right on to the end, Tho' the way be long, let your heart be strong, Keep right on round the bend. Tho' you're tired and weary still journey on, Till you come to your happy abode, Where all the love you've been dreaming of Will be there at the end of the road.
@@georgemacdonald3087 Thanks. I found the lyrics on another site & copied them for people on this one. Clearly I did not check them, but the error is not catastrophic, so I have left it unchanged for the moment. I note it is correct for the 4th verse.
