Good shooting stroke, good moves and footwork in the post, good passer, rolls well towards the hoop, presents himself well for post passes and lobs, etc. Very deceptive defensively and can be a good disrupter. More and more I am convinced that the only thing truly holding him back is his strength, which is workable anyway and he doesn't shy away from contact. His frame would support 10 to 20 more lbs. Dont be surprised if he is playing in the G-League and/or only NBA garbage minutes in the beginning
Kai has played in a switch all defense with Phil National team and was tasked to defend the perimeter. He was great against one of the fastest NTs in SoKor. You could check his BWB lateral drills. Kai has deceptive speed. He could turn it on in a snap but mostly pace himself. He needs improvement in his defensive positioning and his reads on the pick and roll.
@@joshmirr7366 nope, to be drafted in the NBA one must meet the unspoken rule: 1. aside of having a potential to be a star, the player must be half Murican/European. 2. if not half Murican/European, must be an exceptional Black Athlete or have exceptional skills Like Yao Ming & Jeremy Lin. If you meet any of these 2, you have the "chance" to get drafted, if you don't have these 2, just go try Euro League. lol

Very good points there.. that's why I also wanted him to be in GSW where players we think can only play offense somehow became good at defense and now excellent 2 way players. But being young and could commit mistakes I'd like him in the active tutelage of players like Lebron and AD and possibly Atlanta too because of Trae young and their system. Or if Rookies comes with a territory then he'd be also good with a young and developing team like OKC or even Orlando

Great breakdown, Sim. I was waiting for this. I know Kai has the skills for the NBA but like you said, my main concern is will it translate considering he needs to build his strength and speed to keep up with the pace of the NBA game.
@@NothinButKnicks Agreed. But Knicks don't need Kai right now, and Thibs is gonna bury Kai on the bench, just like he did Deuce. Pls. watch Kai’s NBL games especially his game where he was defending against Delavedova and see his lateral movements & how he can defend against smaller men! Thanks ffor the great vlog & analysis!
Salute! Best way to train to shoot. People teach a few different shooting styles today because this player or that player does something. But when its all said and done, itll always come back to the basics.
I believed you are right. He is missing quick lateral movements when switched. Hopefully he understands it as one of his weakness so he can improve and make adjustment down the stretch. Anything else, the kid got potential & basic fundamentals but need some more work laterally & defensively. Definite 2nd round pick and I also agree with you that a team might grab him before 42. Very well said analysis and thanks for making a video for him. I wish Kai Sotto the best of luck during the '22 NBA draft day.
That was an excellent analysis. His NBL stint was a small sample size. I've always said that the nowitzki style suits him. His outside shooting should be consistent. His perimeter defense is suspect. Hopefully he develops in that area.
A superb analysis. Awesome. He's real deal, he has the skills set..not Now but sooner or later. The future is bright for kai.. He'll be a 20 10 player..

I hope Knicks will take into consideration of his potential to help the team and make everyone who love the game dream come true --- NBA championship!
Unbiased assessment of Kai's game. Fundamentals are solid. Remember another player with solid fundamentals in Tim Duncan? He is very coachable and puts in the work. I think Pop is gonna try to get him in San Antonio. He likes international players and in the second round, Kai is a steal.
Fair break down. I would say late first round, cause that's guaranteed money, but its also guaranteed tickets considering the hype, please note that this kid is doing the grind, far away from home just to achieve his goal, would that be a factor to go up the draft.
Gamble to trade to late first round but hell! He's good Return of Investment. He might be not a franchise player but imagine the merchandise of knicks and tickets that will return to the team. And also no one highlighted and compare the basketball level of NBL and US Collegiate basketball. He might also dominate the game if he take the Collegeiate offers.
What a great assessment/ analysis. Thank you! May most of these aspiring young players watch this video, am sure it will gonna help them achieving their dreams
He's KP 2.0. I definitely feel the Knicks should get him but the more and more that I see him play the more I feel that he will not make it to the 2nd round. More than likely a late first round pick!
@@rodbingcang6412 He would definitely be a good fit with the Knicks. He's already 240 pounds and with his frame structure he could pack on another 10 to 15 pounds of muscle. Remember when KP came into the league he was between 215 and 220 pounds and had trouble gaining weight and putting on muscle due to his anemia which also hampered his overall stamina. The one thing that KP has an advantage over Soto is that KP had better defensive instincts as a rookie but Soto does show flashes of defensive traits that can be nurtured into something more potent. All in all I truly believe that Soto has the requisite tools to be a potential Unicorn 2.0 light. Fingers crossed 🤞

Wow awesome analysis and its very crystal clear of off all. He's very young, future of a team as a legit stretch 5 modern bigman and possibly bcome a star in the NBA. #KaiKnicks 💪
What I like about Kai is he's a very healthy 7 footer. So many 7 footers in the league come in either fast, agile, but frail (KP, Bol); or too heavy and slow (Tacko Fall, Boban), and one thing common out all of them, they are always injured every season. Those who stay healthy somehow, are instant solid role players (Poeltl, Dedmon, Lopez), and of course the star centers we now have, like Jokic, Embid, and Gobert - but they are more of outliers, because injured or not, they are too talented regardless. Kai is already 240lb but still bouncy and light with his movements, with no nagging injuries or whatsoever. That health and availability alone as a 7 footer, I give him a solid role player as his floor already, and that's well worth the 2nd round. Now the upside - that's the tricky part, and it's up to the NBA team's development coaches to identify and capitalize on.

Man.. Kai is an ambidextrous and he has been a good post up player (low or high) since high school and he will continue to improved as long as he keep grinding! But what y’all don’t know that Kai has really high basketball iq and the way assess the situation in every game. In 2-3 yrs y’all gonna see his full potential and a he’ll be a solid player!

OMG! With this kind of post, Kai draft stock will increase. He is becoming more of a first round steal. Kai is not perfect but the millions of fans cannot be wrong that he is fun to watch & a great potential in the near future.
Outstanding Breakdown Analysis👏. Mention this video to the Knicks coaching staff, management and exec. They have to see this to breakdown their judgement as well. Investing a million of dollars to a real deal prospect is worth a risk.

@@joshmirr7366 nope, to be drafted in the NBA one must meet the unspoken rule:
1. aside of having a potential to be a star, the player must be half Murican/European.
2. if not half Murican/European, must be an exceptional Black Athlete or have exceptional skills Like Yao Ming & Jeremy Lin.

Fantastic breakdown bro..
Take aways for Kai
- Offensively good. Can shoot
- can put the ball on the floor
- height
- can block shot
Cons
- speed
- perimeter defense
- strength
With continues training he will be a great center for any team.
Those cons are usually for young bigs. He can improve it.
Basketball IQ too, that's important like Jokic who is not althletically gifted.😊
Have you seen his defense against dellavedova

Very good points there.. that's why I also wanted him to be in GSW where players we think can only play offense somehow became good at defense and now excellent 2 way players. But being young and could commit mistakes I'd like him in the active tutelage of players like Lebron and AD and possibly Atlanta too because of Trae young and their system. Or if Rookies comes with a territory then he'd be also good with a young and developing team like OKC or even Orlando

@@NothinButKnicks Agreed. But Knicks don't need Kai right now, and Thibs is gonna bury Kai on the bench, just like he did Deuce. Nice one bro i love your analysis
He going in the 1st round. But you have a damn good point. I always wanted to know why Bol don't play
