@@j.w.r3730 You must have been quite young, a good experience watching with your dad. I was about 24-25 at the time. I have been lucky enough to have watched several movies at the cinema that are now considered classics - Star Wars, alien and terminator etc. One particular memory I have is of my parents taking me to see the Movie version of Doctor Who and the Daleks.
My dad showed me this back when I was 5 or 6. It permanently had me obsessed with the film. Today I'm 18 and it's still in my opinion one of the best films to ever depict UFOs in such a unique way. You can tell how simple it is, yet how passionate they really were about it. Steven Spielberg is perfect when it comes to alien movies.
The great thing is, it is partially based on UFO reports and the expertise of some of the leading UFOlogists such as Dr. Jaques Valle, who was hired as the technical consultant for the film.
I too saw this film, then got hooked on space sciences and went on to work on the Shuttle program as a 27 year old. I met an astronaut... I wish they had continued the Shuttle program.
I saw this at the drive in movies. Everyone was glue to the movie it was different than any other movies we ever seen it was breath taking especially the technology of the special effect.
This is history. We will never again have movies with stories as imaginative as this.
One!❤❤❤
Indeed. Spielberg is a visionary god in cinema history.
It was one of the most magical moments in cinema for me... the night, the sound...and the ship !!
I saw this in the cinema back in the day and watched it several times on DVD, a terrific movie
😊cool
Same here,my dad took me.
Became my most favorite movie of all time.
Still to this day a fantastic movie.
Quality has no age.

The arrival of the mother ship was truly SPECTACULAR brilliant.

I was 12 seeing this in a theatre. The sound was absolutely incredible.

Thank Mr.Spielburg.
日本での特別編を数回見に行ったが実によくできてるし音楽の良さにほれぼれ。
We don't talk enough about how Lance Henriksen was In a lot of important movies.
I thought that was him!
Just like Terminator and Aliens.
I can see it now--if this were to happen today: every single worker there...pausing to take selfies w/the mothership in the background...
Aren't selphies a "See ME" drag?
😂❤
5:20 Guy with the flat camera. Closest thing we had then.
Its been a long time sence i saw that movie.
Not a cell phone in sight
And Dad said my music degree would never be worth shit.
❤😊😊great movie
Isn’t that the mom from A Christmas Story? I wish Ralphie would show up with his red rider carbine-action range model air rifle.
You are correct. Melinda Dillon.
Melinda just passed this year and yes. So did Terri Garr.
Does anyone know what they were actually saying in that musical code
It is because you were somehow contacted or abducted at some point in your life.
Remember, this really happened
So you know.
That was the year,too.
This is a perfect movie. I will fight you all.
SFメカニック
Its the rapture of the chosen ones 😂.
That maybe true.
Abigale Rapid
Klattu bereda nikto
Where are the smartphones recording it?
I presume you are joking, in case you are not mobile phones did not exist at the time this movie was made.
@@nigelmorse3909 isn’t scenes are more beautiful (even more in real life) without anyone recording things in smartphones
Someone did have a 110 camera.
How would you communicate??!!😂😂
With Love, Brother.
Carefully.
the majority of these actors or now dead

First!
One would think.....Being first, you just might have something intelligent to say!
Stupidest scene. Communicating with musical tones? Totally nuts.

Why a nasa probe is carrying a record entitled the sounds of Earth
@@melina001a I didn't know there was music on that record. Even still, the record isn't communicating in a 2-way conversation. It's meerly a display.

Music is accepted as the international language; why not interstellar?
